Really enjoying your videos. Brings back memories of 48hrs flying in a 152 around Exeter and SW England in the 80's. Now I'm watching your journeys on phone in my narrowboat on the UK Midlands canals! Keep the videos coming please!
Who else loves bush flying
So much! A dream job, especially somewhere warm and beautiful like this
@@davewestner for sure, just not sure I’ve got the cojones to look at a mountain and say, yeah I can land an airplane on it;)
@@davewestner Warm, that's putting it nicely lol.
Everyone
This is so enjoyable & relaxing thanks 😊
oh Díos mío que milagro del señor y quien lo pilotaba un aplauso y muchos bravos
fue de verdad?
.. such beautiful location where you work. Your job must give you good feelings for serving remote small communities. Wonderful!!! Congratulations!!!!
It's very rewarding
And then you leave your plane and... SNOK! Ah forgot the oxygen 😂
pretty much
which means it is actually a very comfortable system even though it may appear uncomfortable
fresh O2 is always comfortable 😄
I'll never understand why anyone would dislike Ryan's videos I love them and wish I could do what he does
many thanks
Me neither. I mean if it’s not your thing, go find something else to watch. Why bother registering a dislike. I find Ryan's vids thoroughly enjoyable. Also takes me back to flying into Wewak and POM nine years ago in a GIII.
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing! On top of the life of a bush pilot I know the UA-cam demands must be high as well! I know a lot of crop dusters and I’ve only met one i would consider sane, never met a bush pilot I’d consider sane but Ryan seems about as close as they come;)
well thanks. I hope I'm sane
@@MissionaryBushPilot just messin! Crop duster pilots make everyone look sane lol! Seriously though, great content that highlights life in one of the most remote places on earth. Appreciate the effort that goes in. Thanks for the quality content!
I have anxiety really bad. Watching you fly calms me plus I enjoy this. Thanks 😊 appreciate it.
I can't thank you enough for the Bush Pilot livery
Awesome!! Make a 360 video so the viewers can scroll around and look at anything they want!! It would be so cool!
Cool way to say hello a little flyover with a wing wave
I like the extended vocabulary to describe the inclement weather!
Great video as usual, thank you...
Thx
Thank you for demonstrating professionalism and knowledge about your aircraft. I refer to your observation of Va speeds through those ‘convective’ clouds. Always enjoy the videos.
glad you enjoyed the video
Hello Captain Ryan, great to listen to comms NTE - ATC - MUM flying VFR into IMC.
+ love the wing wobble.🦙🇦🇺
What a smooth butter landing again!
The landscape is astonishingly beautiful. A nice ride and journey with you.
I like his vidéos. I was in PNG in 1980 and à few times in 1995,96 as well as Irian Jaya (Indonesia West Papua) for mountain climbing, trekking. I love these countries, the Land, the people, culture.... I wish to come back and fly with you to dive again in the unique atmosphere of Papua New Guinea.
Definitely one of my top aviation UA-camrs! And you're in good company.
Thanks. Glad you enjoy the videos
Great job very relaxing to watch
What a great job!
Awsome flying, I fly a CessnaU206F, in Colombia, weather and scenarios are quite similar, and look at your videos to keep me inline and motivated ...sometimes weather and bad landing strips takes it’s toll on you !
Nice fly by in the mountains.
Turner family and movaci Thank you Im here for the aviation and hes a very pro pilot ✌🏻
Blessings on your journeys Ryan.
Thank you for this upload! Especially with how this night is going.
Your videos always entertain, thank you!
Really good video, thank you Ryan, have a top weekend.
Good description of safety heights. I would never have thought of adding a buffer for tree growth.
I wouldn't have either but Thankfully PNG casa did.
Hey Ryan, that was a really overcast, and bumpy flight. Enjoyable video nonetheless. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Always a challenge flying over there. Thanks for taking us along:):)
Great video! Thanks for sharing. This video reminds me when as as a passenger on a flight with an ATR 42 through thunderstorm clouds and it was a bumpy ride for sure.
thanks for another interesting flight. have a good week.
One of your more interesting ones! Thanks!
That take-off along the valley has got to be one of the nicest looking
God Bless
It's very beautiful out there for sure
Thanks for the video Ryan. The visibility was surely scary for a while . Thank God , you landed safe . May God bless you everyday in the sky .🙏🏾
I appreciate that
Another interesting video watching you fly around the regional weather. Blue skies!
Great edit work on this video. I really got an appreciation for your piloting skills from the right windshield camera on that fly by. You are really good at scanning gages while in a steep turn with mountains that look really big out the window. Nice work Captain!
Thanks
@@MissionaryBushPilot look forward to the 360 degree camera and will watch for the horizon leveling on that camera over your right shoulder. be safe!
Hi Ryan, Just love the videos. I used to live and work in Papua - near Poppondetta to be exact and hope that you would be able to fly into that aerodrome. However , would it be possible to show us a whole day flight operation, from morning star t to end of day, naturally heavily edit ted due toi length. An example would have been when you flew to Cairns Australia and then a second part showing your flight back.
great flying buddy. would love to see a video of your home base behind the scene. be safe
I have some of that kind of content on my patreon page
Flying over those forests of trees and the river in the valley was excellent. I know you've done it previously, it just seemed lower and therefore sharper detail than before. I'm also enjoying you including an establishing drone shot of the field, at the beginning of more recent videos. Appreciate all your efforts!
Yeah I got new cameras so the quality went up a lot
These videos are so cool, it gives me ideas of what to do, because I’m in the PPL right now, I’m looking at option to keep me flying, even considering the circumstances around the world, one option is cargo, but then when I came across this channel, and you flying, it kind of opened my eyes on bush flying, I fly your routes of FS2020 with the C208 and I have to say I enjoy it a lot!
Great flight and beautiful scenery, take care and be safe up there 👍
Thanks, will do!
Been following you for about a month now after discovering you, I have binge watched your videos and they are amazing to watch, learn from and enjoy. Thanks for the awesome content!
Glad you like them!
Nice flight again. thx!
Your videos always impress me... keep up the good work.
I like how you talk through everything....
Again, a well done presentation, thanks.
Many thanks
That low level flight thru that valley was very cool! Rocking your wings...nice. Really enjoy your channel, Ryan. I'm not a pilot nor do I fake it...but the workload is impressive and you handle it easily...well, at least it appears that way. We have boated in a total white-out and depended on the radar. But I'm only in two dimensions. ;-)
Thanks for watching
Good to see you have some fun on the flight. :)
Always!
Enjoyed that, thanks Ryan
Awesome flyby and wave! That is a huge encouragement and booster for the missionaries in the bush! I'm sure it makes them feel special. When we were in the Fore, we had some NTM flyby's, and some were air drops. Do you do any air drops with the Kodiac? We would get medicine, supplies and sometimes special things. If you do any air drops, that would make an excellent video. Thanks Ryan.
I'm having another pilot do an airdrop tomorrow for me for some of our missionaries, but I"m not doing the flight.
Great video
Haha the confirmation of the weather details by MUM was hilarious!
Right?!
Very cool 👍
Another awesome video. I really appreciate how conversational you are. I feel like I’m flying fo.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thx for watching
glad to come along for the flight haha thanks
Glad you enjoyed
another exciting travel with ryan. this is how i end my days... great work agan :)
Glad to hear it
Great episode. In future, if you are going to do a flyby......give you friends a damn camera to film it !!! 😂😂
Nice video as always. Regards from France
Seems like a great plane to fly.. reliable.
It really is
Looks like you could blow the grass roofs off some of those huts, if you were in the right (wrong) spot! Got to be rough getting in/out of those remote home locations! Wow, that ride, deep in the soup!! Why the Oxygen?? Didn't seem that high. I know those 360 cameras are amazing!! You'll love them!! Can't wait for that content!!
Anything over 10000 for more than 30 mins I am required to wear oxygen here in PNG
Can't wait until MSFS 2020 fixes the G1000 so it performs even close to real life...or Reality XP gets on board and makes and add on. Thanks for the great flights and taking us along with you.
6:16 That is cool to watch, even the external view was so cool :)
Glad you enjoyed it
3:52 Brakes applied and slipping? Also, 5:52 ......geez, 60deg bank? Wheee!
The brakes weren't upping but the tires were because it was wet grass.
Bummer, you bailed on the approach ... maybe another flight ... thanks for sharing.
Felt like it was kinda pointless with 10 miles vis
i love my country..
I could watch Missionary Bush Pilot videos all day long. What kind of wildlife is there in the forest below?
Every time i watch you videos i get super excited, im currently sitting on 194 hours, getting ready to sit my CPL with the goal of becoming a missionary pilot.
Got any advice you can share?
Lovely, good job, Ryan :)
Hey, thanks!
Looks like the wet season is starting.
Starting to 😔
Hi Ryan, Andrew from Scotland watching here, and subscribed. Love your videos - I have a non flying query here - in a number of videos there are interested indigenous peoples watching take off or landing, grass strips. A lot of children. I assume there are no ground controllers at grass strips in which case how are they kept clear of random animals, people etc running out just at the wrong moment? Thanks, Regards, A.
just got in from Flying with Steveo From FLA To Nashville Though be it Virtual so now time to fly with Everyones Fav Bush Pilot / Jungle Pilot.
I have no connections to flying, but I just love these vlogs , keep up the great work Ryan, (from the east end of London )👍🏻
Great to hear
Would be great if you could get your friends to film your flypast!
Any chance you'd do a "technical turbine engine operation for dummies" kind of video sometime...? I've found some youtube vid on that theme, but it would be great to hear you with your very clear comm's explaining "what's and why's" on e.g. when you monitor NG, ITT etc. Another area of interest would be to see loading, fueling, pre-flight checks etc. Cheers, Tommy
I would like to shoot more of those types of vlogs. They take a lot more time to put together, but I'll think about it.
Alright, I am thoroughly convinced this pilot enjoys the good life a bit too much...like he was the best Navy pilot they ever had, and then Delta wanted him bad...but the sheeba sheeba be banging' in Papa New Guinea y'all lol
how does the scheduling work? Once I took a roundtrip with Pacific Missionary Aviation from Yap to Ulithi, and their scheduling was along the lines "maybe on Friday, if there is enough pax" :)
the equipment was a queen air, they probably prefer multiple engines due to flying mostly over open water.
We have minimum loading fees. So if the missionarys that booked the flight are the only ones on the flight, they have to pay a min of 530kg regardless of how much weight they have.
Lovely video
Thanks 🤗
Curious on currency if flying the full approach would've been a better choice or no issues with maintaining currency.
Hey man some awesome mountain flying skills you have. I hear you discussing the weather a lot, cloud cover specifically but what about wind? I would guess that anything above 15kts in one of those tight mountain strip would make for some insane approaches.
Because we are close to the equator, we don't experience high winds very often here.
Very nice flight. Saw the turbulence in effect for the first. Just yesterday my family paid to have me go up in a piper pa-24 16 for a half an hour, talk about a beautiful flight, turbulence was very present. But was able to gain
.5 hours, purchased a log book, instructor made note in it of my time. So it is official, will conduct the part 61 approach towards a pilot's license😃😃.
That is super exciting!
@@MissionaryBushPilot Thanks😃, I'm very excited about it.
Pretty crap weather, pretty good video - as always... It strikes me that there could be a market for big bushy fack mustaches to enhance the look of the oxygen equipment.
Lol, maybe!
I am confused if have 20 degrees of flaps why do you need to adjust the trim and what does it do
I've come to love your channel. I've done mission work in Kosovo. I've always dreamt of flying. Does RPM automatically change with prop angle? Is the prop angle control feather or just forward/back? Everyone can make fun of my dumb questions
Ryan Hi! Crap weather indeed. A little like UK this last month! You may have been asked this before so sorry. The Take Off and Approach Checklist Box you have on the cockpit coaming. Is that Company standard equipment. Seems perfect for single crew ops. Regards from UK. p.s. We saw the Sun today!
Yeah, all of our planes have it and have been using them since the 90's. They are a great tool for single pilot ops for sure
How often does the plane get washed? It always looks very clean.
Probably once a week
NIce vid!!
@The New NKVD ye i did ??
@The New NKVD silly
Sweet
Ryan! Thanks for another great video. Question: Why didn't you stay on oxygen all the way to the end?
I would completely trust this guy to land smoothly on the beach at Barra.
Hi Ryan. Seeing the weather was a bit marginal, and you were talking about calculating your own MSAs, what distance either side of track do you use?
Also, does the Kodiak have nosewheel steering, or is it just differential braking and rudder?
We use 7 miles on each side and it's just turned by braking and a little bit of rudder
Woww👏
That nasal cannula must be quite comfortable, you flew the pattern with it in your nose... :>)
Yeah, forgot to take it out. That dorky one is a lot more comfortable than just a standard cannula.
I wish they had vids like this before I became a freight dog! Great job!
Freight Dog! Right on! There's 3 types of flying that always appealed to me, and freight is one of em. the other two are ferry pilot and bush flying. Hope you enjoy your gig!
@@davewestner
Ha! That was a lonnng time ago! One of the fellow pilots lived through the war in Serbia and he said it was safer there! Winter, ifr, DUAL suction pump failure! Sliding down an icy runway---sideways. All for 19K/ year and the previous twin-time.
@@fazole I read something that said, "you know you're a freight dog if the most reliable and expensive piece of equipment in your cockpit is your ipod!"
I do believe it would be pretty terrifying flying......ferry pilot sounds good to me instead, cheers!
Hey Ryan! First of all, absolutely in love with the channel, being a pilot has always been my dream, squashed by a lazy eye diagnosis when I was 15... but watching you fly is the next best thing! haha. One question about the AP, when you say 100 kts is the minimum speed, does that mean that the AP literally wont turn on if you're below that speed, or will it turn on with a warning or something like that?
I wish that was the case. It's a dumb autopilot and will fly at whatever speed you turn it on, without any warnings, which is unsafe IMO. It is too slow for the motors to keep up because the control movements are too much at slower airspeed.
@@MissionaryBushPilot Oh, i get it, yeah that sounds sketchy if for some reason you dont notice airspeed getting too low... thanks for answering!
Dear Bush Pilot on your plane are you using gaseous or liquid Oxygen if liquid how much can you hold.. Thanks for the info
You have probably been asked before but what deicing does the Kodiak have?
No deicing, but the only preventative icing is has is pitot tube heaters
Flying VFR or IFR, do you have to tell anyone witch to choose? (As you understand I know almost nothing about the roules), I like your vlogs anyway!
no, if I file an IFR flight plan, then I am free to go in or out of IMC as I choose.
What was your bank angle when you were flying over your friends' place? That looked pretty steep? Is there a minimum speed you have to maintain when flying at that angle to prevent the wing from stalling?
I'm sorry I have so many questions. Your self made IFR routes, which you mentioned that your company uses.....do you share with other bush pilots/companies so they know what your likely route would be?
I wish i could find a source to tell my roughly how many planes are flying around the bush on a given day.
We have shared our stuff with SIL.
@@MissionaryBushPilot I don't know what that is, but glad you're sharing.
Is it the company you fly for that has developed the basic airfield data and topography for all of these little remote air strips?
