    May I ask: Does these exercises improve your strength on the skills that you are working towards or is it injury prevention?

      A bit of both, the accessory exercises are mainly to increase strength/size in the muscles used in the skills and the stronger the muscle the better prepared it is to handle the intensity of the skill work and the less likely you are to get injured.
      For example weighted dips target the pecs in a similar way to the cross so by getting stronger in dips I have greater potential in the cross.
      Specifically I've found that squats and deadlifts have helped with high impact tumbling such as double backs, and as I've got stronger on overhead press my planche has gotten better.
