Actually the strap that comes on that watch was not made by casa fagliano, nor is it shell cordovan that casa is known for. Rather, it’s made by JLC of calf skin and licensed by casa. You still can order the casa strap directly from casa. It’s handmade, shell cordovan leather, and beautiful. I own both the black and tan ones. Also the grand taille is not the biggest of that version, the large is. The grand taille version is actually the medium version. It’s called the grande taille because at the time it was released, it was considered big.
I purchased a reverso for my wife back in 2016. She loves rectangular watches. Tuesday we went back to the JLC Beverly Hills Boutique looking for an Atmos clock for our apartment. While inside, I tried on the master control perpetual calendar and a duo face tribute. I really loved the idea of the PC but the Reverso was so comfortable and it fit perfectly. My wife also brought up a good point that I don’t have any rectangular watches in my collection. I was sold. I’m completely in love with this brand. The more I research, the more I see what time and effort go into creating such a work of art. A watch collection has no soul without a JLC Reverso.
Lovely presentation. Stunning piece , fortunate to own one as well. Bought as recent as last month. Can’t take my eyes off the black dial part of the watch. Something about this watch , it tugs at your heart. It makes it about you and the the piece and something intimate in between. Unlike a lot of other “mainstream” luxury watches where it also about getting seen with what one thinks would look good . In my collection experience, this watch is now a symbol of my journey of moving to love watches and have them mean something to me and not necessarily own something the world may know or validate.
Thank you for watching - and congratulations on being an owner too! It's truly a stunning piece. It was the first in my collection that helps me hold myself to a different standard, in a sense.
I own one for about 6 months now. What a watch. It is (in my opinion) the best watch you can buy in terms of design, style, quality, flexibility and just general use. And another nice thing about a reverso is that you can just wear this safely on the street which can't be said of brands like Rolex or Cartier, theire too recognizable. The reverse will only be spotted by watch enthusiasts and this often comes paired with a nice conversation about watches as well. The duoface is just amazing.
Hi Florian - I agree! It's incredibly flexible in how it wears, and you make a good point about being able to walk safely on the streets with one of these on.
Also, no matter the company/environment and the watches people have- I never feel the Reverso could be bettered. Whether in the Patek boutique or at. Out for dinner with friends wearing more expensive Rolexes and APs, when I have my Reverso I always have that eye roll and a smile like I’m not in the endless dick measuring competition that they’re all in 🤣
One of the big differences between Cartier and the Reverso is the way the strap meets the case. With the Cartier, there is a gap that you can actually see your skin through, whereas on the Reverso, the strap melds into the case beautifully with no gap at all. It wasn't until my sister pointed this out on my Reverso that i noticed it. "Lovely watch and one of the best watch brands ever made."
An iconic, beautifully designed watch. I'm not ready to pull the trigger on this expensive masterpiece but perhaps some day. Until then, I will enjoy my Rotary Cambridge with Arabic numerals.
A piece like this can definitely be someone's end-game and a great aspirational piece! One day you'll get to own one! In the meantime, ANY watch that makes you smile when you look at it is a great addition to your collection! Thank you for watching!
Loved your presentation on the Reverso and particularly enjoyed the lush visuals. You took your time with it and made it unique amongst Reverso reviews. Keep up the good work. SUBSCRIBED!
Thank YOU for watching! The Reverso will likely stay an unmistaken icon for decades to come, and is a wonderful grail to have - I'm sure you'll get your hands on yours soon! :)
Better get yours soon, I waited close to 10 years to buy mine, only for the price to keep going up and up, thankfully got my Duo last year and that I love the current generation better than the older ones with the pin/side button to change the second timezone.
Having tried on the reverso tribute moon a couple of years ago that is the one I still yearn for, fits perfect on my wrist but as they have discontinued it I will have to hunt out a good example on the 2nd hand market.
Lots of interesting info I didn't know plus very good macro shots. Great to have such a video from a true enthusiast rather than someone trying to sell something.
weird that ive always felt the black face should be set to home time, and the white dial with a date to current location... i know where i am whther its am or pm... i need the home face to tell me am/pm so i know whether its ok to for example call someone home, also wherever i am i wanna know the date with a first glance, wouldnt wanna switch to home time just to check the current date... especially if its a different timezone and calculate whether or not a day has passed compared to hometime.. or wonder whether the home time is indeed ahead of my travel location... i mean im just blowing my own mind lol
What I find fascinating about us watch collectors in the modern world is that we're still trying to find actual usefulness out of our toys. Everyone can put multiple timezones including am/pm/date as a widget on the lockscreen of their phones. Yet, we see these little machines doing remotely similar things mechanically and we're like "YES". But when I come to think about it, I absolutely hate calendar watches that give me the 'white/blue dot' for leap year aesthetically - as much as I'd hate having an 'am/pm' indicator and the same way I think most winding charge complications are ugly af (although useful)...we're a weird bunch :P
Amazing video well presented, I am on the verge of buying one so watching videos and falling more in love. In terms of scratches does jlc watches scratch easily?
Thank you! I've had mine for about a year now, and having worn it A LOT, it has scratched kinda visibly (since it's an all polished case). However, for what I'm concerned, it only adds to the character of my watch and reminds me of the things I've done with it on my wrist! (And also, they're a light polish away if you really want them removed at some point!) Let me know if you end up getting it, also try all the sizes you can get your hands on - depending on your wrist size. You might be surprised!
@@ThatEm hello thanks for your reply yes I picked one up the other day it’s so unique and the grande fits perfectly. What’s your thoughts on the jlc price projection looking at the future market potential do you think the price will increase?
@@Aj_98 CONGRATULATIONS! It's an absolutely beautiful watch isn't it? As far as prices are concerned, last year there already was a bump upwards in prices on most luxury watch brands, JLC included. A couple of years ago, a Reverso Duoface was about 9k. Now it's 12k. So if you keep projecting this forward, you can imagine in a couple of years, the price might get to 15k, then 17k and so on. So, even if the specific model doesn't get hype itself in the grey market, inflation alone will make sure your watch will at least keep its value as time goes on. Enjoy your new Reverso!
Thank you for watching Guillermo! And I'm glad I made you take another look at it. It's really a wonderful timepiece! (And still the best-winding feeling in my collection!)
I find the black dial to be the more dressy of the two dials since it doesn't have arabic numerals. White dials are usually considered dressier than black on sporty watches, but when it comes to dress watches black dial is the dressiest option.
Thank you! Your wrist is slightly bigger than mine. The large would suit you great especially if you're going to use it also in a more casual setting as the larger size creates a slightly sportier look. If instead you are looking for the petite Reverso look for high-end dresswear only, I would also go try the Medium size. Same watch, yet two different looks based on your needs! Let me know if you try it on and which one works best!
Hey man, great video. I am in a predicament. I want to add this exact watch, but i also feel like the omega speedmaster pro Sapphire sandwhich is also nice and fits well in my collection. I have a GS SBGM221 GMT, Doxa Sub300T Divingstar, Stowa marine originale, Tissot Le Locle, Seiko Turtle save the ocean, Seiko Captain Willard, Tissot le locle, a Swatch big bold jelly. I am confused on what i should add, the speedmaster pro or the JLC reverso duoface classic large. I like them both, i feel the speedy wears amazingly well on wrist, but also love the JLC and the fact it is haute horology. What do you think fits my collection? I am in a predicament haha. Amazing videos man, honestly great content. I feel like i need a sports watch, a black dial one, as my GS covers the dress, but i like the reverso as well.
Hey, thank you for watching and the comment! Well, I think my answer will be split in two paths, which doesn't really help you sadly, as you are already in the same predicament :P However, I would say that you already have both that beautiful GS and the Le Locle (if it's white faced) to cover your dressier side. Considering the rest of your collection I'd probably go for the Speedy, as you seem a more sporty type of person; so you'd perhaps enjoy it more. ...however let me throw you the curveball: I consider this Reverso sportier than dressier. So the same exact reasoning applies! The difference is, the JLC would look even better in a dress environment. The Reverso also gets better nods if you're in a watch-nerd environment. Reading this back myself I'd probably go with the JLC xD Regardless of your choice, they will be both fantastic watches and will serve you well for a lifetime.Let me know which one you pick!
It's bizarre, for me this was a very expensive purchase and like you the scratches haven't bothered me. I've had £300 Seikos that when scratched for the first time broke my heart but not this one. Maybe it's because I purchased it to remain in my collection forever? Strange though. Some interesting facts I'd not heard before. Thanks for sharing the review.
