@@wwemonkey619 ok, so there's a lot to unpack here? I have no memory of this peak of wrestling, and next to no knowledge of US geography either. So I actually assumed Oklahoma was only a city in Texas. Because naming even a parody character after a whole state seems a little on the nose? I'm looking at Charlotte Flair as the example here. But I've done the research, and realised my mistake. Thanks for pointing it out.
That was my dad’s favorite Wrestlemania. He grew up watching wrestling with my grandfather and great grandfather and over the years they would watch Wrestlemania together and WM19 was the first time in over a decade watching it together and got emotional and excited throughout the PPV
your dad has terrific taste. that just goes to show the quality of matches on this card. WM17 or WM3 get all the praise but this one is at the top of my list. I watched it again recently and only found a few minor botches. its like watching your favorite movie a bunch and notice things you didn't the first few times
This is my era of WWE. I loved say 90% of the wrestlers on this card and still do. I honestly feel like the mid 2000's were a special pocket in history where, they just knocked it out the park on the regular.
@@micahjohnsonboxing6409 If Triple H personally made sure anything criticising him was blocked, do you really think he'd allow BZ's entire video dedicated to trashing 2002-05 HHH to still be up?
WWE also claimed EmpLemon's video on Monday Night Raw yesterday, I guess they're on a roll in screwing over people EDIT: The Booker and Triple H feud was great up until H won. Using racism to build heat isn't a bad idea but obviously the hero needs to win. What they were trying to accomplish storyline wise we'll never know, but it was stupid as shit and an example of his pride winning over.
Its called heat. You cant put much more heat on your top heel than this, and with the young guys still not quite ready for the bigtime. I can see hunter thinking long term and having someone cash in on all that heat. You wanna know what. You all bought it. Heel hhh is best hhh
Austin really retired at 38 though...Thats unheard of today. Ric Flair literally wrestled almost 25 more years after he turned 38. We were really deprived of a lot more years out of Stone Cold.
I was wondering where did the original video went? I have watched the original one. Just came here to see if Brian made any changes. I have stopped watching WWE a long time ago but I still keep with the product thanks to you Brian. Your reviews are the best and most humourous. I watch the PPVs only after watching your reviews.🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍
I agree the Miller Lite Catfight brain dead and moronic. Apparently, it was the reason why RVD & Kane v Lance Storm and Chief Morley didn't make it on air. Also, Triple H burying Booker T was a downer. Other than that, stellar PPV. My second favourite WM.
My first ever wrestling show was Monday Night Raw in Mobile, Al on May 19, 1997 (Kane hadn’t debuted quite yet.) The night of Shawn Michaels infamous “Sunny Days” promo.
Say what you want about Vince McMahon but that shot of bloody Vince peering over the ring apron is the most iconic image ever. Only thing that comes close in my mind is a bloody toothless Foley grinning at the camera during the Hell In The Cell match at King Of The Ring 1998
I rewind that shot every time I see it. you can hear the crowd get louder when that pops up on the arenas screen. I was there and everyone marked out when we saw his face. amazing production for that match
Triple H being racist made it even better. I won't deny it was racist, it was and it was all the better for it. But what didn't work was that Booker got buried by Triple H in this match. Booker clearly should have gone over.
It took Austin 16 chair shots to put the Rock away at Wrestlemania 17. The Rock does 3 Rock Bottoms to put Austin away. 3:16...I can't believe I never noticed that before!
I absolutely love the title belt designs from this time, they look interesting and prestigious. The current designs make me feel like they’ve lost some of their prestige.
100% agree. New belt designs look like plastic garbage given out for free at wrestling events. The WWF/WWE big eagle belt will always be the best. The undisputed title (one in this event) is a close 2nd.
Cool, enjoying your reviews very informative and well opinionated. I was watching your WM17 review yesterday and when you said WM19 was your favorite, I didn’t agree right away. But now,l instantly you mentioned sentimental value and I get it. WM17 was in my hometown, I wasn’t there and didn’t see it until some time later but it is still nice to have your city represented both on the card and in the crowd. I enjoy the nostalgic appeal of your reviews because watching wrestling PPVs is very time consuming and it is great that everyone has their favorite events.
What I remember most about this WM was this: 3 Leg Drops take out Vince 3 Rock Bottoms take out Austin 3 F5s take out Angle and only 1 Pedigree takes out Booker T. Booker should've won that match, he was over af and it would've made sense storyline wise to prove HHH wrong about "guys like him." Hollywood Rock (as a heel) applauded Booker on the ramp after he eliminated Rock in that #1 Contenders Battle Royal, that was more to put over Book than anything HHH did that entire feud. HHH even belittled the WCW title and it's significance standing next to Ric Flair himself. It shows the difference of Rock & HHH there as well. Rock put over Hurricane, Brock, Goldberg and they got clean pins on him. HHH beat RVD, Kane, Steiner, Booker and Goldberg (in their first match together at SS). Fans hated that era of HHH lol. What's funny is that Rock brought in Goldberg to put him over, he was successful, he also wanted to do the same with Sting back during WM21 but Sting wasn't a fan of how WWE used the WCW talent during the Invasion because he saw Rock ask who in the blue hell Booker was, so he wanted no part of WWE. (He thought Rock & WWE were burying Book but in truth, Rock asked that question to everyone, he even did that with the newly bald Kurt Angle & Mark Lloyd on SD lol. The Rock/Booker thing wasn't a REAL burial like what Taker did with DDP "Who in the hell is Diamond Dallas Page?" & "You're not famous because you suck!" Book got the better of Rock more than a few times in that feud, more than what the ONE time DDP did on Taker.) Always found it interesting that when Sting finally does decide to debut in WWE, he ends up working with the guy that actually DID bury Booker (HHH) & he also jobs to him lol. That's why I was always perplexed why Punk, Orton, Cena talked about Rock like they did. Rock didn't play politics. Do you think Austin, Cena, HBK, Hogan or HHH would put over The Hurricane, of all people, as cleanly like Rock did? Or have the idea for Brock or Goldberg to beat them cleanly like Rock did? (Austin lost the WWE Title to Kane only to win it back the next night on Raw, Cena beat a returning Brock, Cena ended Umaga's red hot undefeated streak with a roll up. And Austin left because he was supposed to lose to a heel Coach, they replaced him with Batista, who won.) Brock said Rock looked out for him on SD, they're still friends to this day, there's a video with Rock surprising Brock backstage and they hugged. You're not gonna see Brock do that with HHH lol. Says alot about The Rock as a person backstage in WWE and why no one outside of Kliq members or Orton, Punk and Cena had anything bad to say about him backstage.
christ m8..i couldnt even bring meself2read ur whole comment after seeing how long it was..im pretty sure i agree w everything u said here.lol i like ur style, like ur moves😎
The Rock wasn't against putting guys over but he did politic a prime example of that was him ending Billy Gunn's main event push with one promo as for the Triple H stuff I couldn't stand him from 99 on all he did was try and hog the spotlight. Sting should have never jobbed to him and that whole feud itself felt like Triple H was pulling a Hogan bring a guy in for a match (The Ultimate Warrior) only to have him job clean to you for no reason other than to stroke your inflated ego.
Fun fact- Tommy Dreamer was with Talent Relations at the time and he signed Abyss for this Wrestlemania match, but Abyss got cold feet, liked staying with TNA, and backed out, which is why Show and A-Train were put there instead.
Dude, Eddie was a work of art in the ring. Most people dont roll into bed as gracefully as Eddie slingshots into, over, and around opponents. Looks absolutely effortless, and knowing the physical problems he had, just gives that much more perspective. Should be way higher in the in-ring GOAT discussion.
Dumbest decisions in Wrestlemania history: 3) Hulk Hogan getting and winning an instant title shot at WM IX 2) Triple H going over Booker T in "that way" (edges out Hogan because of the race based feud ending wrongly) And 1) making it 7 hrs long so by the time the main event happens, the crowd is tired and doesnt give a shit. Honorable mention: Reigns main eventing 4 manias in a row (we'll see about 5), simply for the transparency of it all.
Steak & Kidney Pie At WM 9 when you’re supposed to be trying to build a new star? Yes it was a horrible decision. Daniel Bryan at WM 30, losing cleanly to Orton or Dave, and then John Cena cashing in money in the bank and leaving world champion, it’s a bad idea
I was always surprised this WM has such a low buyrate. It had a real strong card Hulk/McMahon, Austin/Rock, Jericho/Michaels, Angle/Lesnar, the 4 way tag match. A real strong card I don't know why so few people bought it.
I tried to buy it, it told me there was an error, for ordering last minute, and it was full and not allowed to order. Maybe, that's why. I was very gutted. I was a big fan of WWE back then. I had to call my dad, and listen to it on the phone, before I had internet, on his free PPV.
@@messykid1234 Okay, but that doesn't really disprove my point. 2002 was a rough year financially due to many factors, one of them being Austin leaving and the Invasion killing interest. If Hogan didn't come back, X8 wouldn't have sold either.
This was my first wrestlemania too. I was in the baseball seats so I was able to see the ring and it was awesome. I’m in the media tour video getting an autograph from edge it was awesome. I’m at 349 in the video if you were wondering
Hearing you wanting to get seen by the camera makes me really appreciate the Raw show I attended for free with a front row seat. I got a really good shot on the camera. I was right behind the ring to the left (from the view of the camera). Edit: If you are wondering how I attended for free? Someone had bought a ticket for another person and that person then backed out of the ticket. So the guy had a ticket that he didn't need and was nice enough to bring me along and give me the ticket. One of the best moments of my life going to that show. It was so neat to actually be at a WWE show. CM Punk came out and John Cena was there. I can't remember what year it was. So neat.
Head was there alongside their temporary replacement for Wes Boreland, Mike Smith. Sadly, a lot of the work that Mike did with Bizkit (Crack Addict included) got scrapped.
Interesting fact: Limp Bizket were the last band to use the twin towers with the Rolling video filmed on Tower B and they actually claimed in 2008 that 9/11 really messed up there musical career.
Wrestlemania 19 is one of the best wrestlemanias there is but given the year it took place in, you can see why it didn't get enough credit it deserves.
totally agree. with WM17 still fresh on everyone's mind as well as Hogan/Rock the year before. They had a nice little 4 year WM run but this card was solid start to finish. as long as you fast forward through pillow fighting
Hey Brian just recently subscribed and wanted to say you make really good videos. Also I’m from Seattle WA and was at this Mania as well 12th row behind the announcers. This was my first Mania live as well and my favorite of all time. The card was so stacked and had so many different era’s and told so many different stories and literally 5 different main events. I had been a wrestling fan for years and watched everything faithfully up until that point but after this show I felt completed like If I never watched wrestling after that show I would be ok because at that point I felt like a saw one of the best if not thee best Wrestlemania I could ever see in my lifetime. I don’t know it was just special I always wanted to go to a Wrestlemania and when this came to my hometown I couldn’t have asked for anything better it was like all the years watching led up to that moment and the Rock vs Austin match meant so much to me as well as hogan vs Vince it was like 2 great chapters properly being closed. Anyhow I just really felt you on the opening and got love for anybody else that was there on that magical night. I was 19 at the time and it was one of the best moments and memories of my life and as a wrestling fan. Keep up the good work 👍
This was my first show ever too! I was flipping pizza at a Pizza Hut in Aberdeen, Washington. My best friend showed up THE DAY OF WRESTLEMANIA with FREE TICKETS FROM HIS COMPANY! We then booked it up to Seattle and started with the final match on Heat. Was an amazing experience...never forget it. And yes, HHH screwed Booker T!
Dude, That ANGLE Shirt you had on in your picture brought back memories of my ANGLE shirt. I had the same one. I got mine at Raw in Dallas at the AA arena. Friend took me bc he got them from his work for free. Even came w/ parking. That same night my brother said he ate at a nearby restaurant by the AA and RVD sat right behind his table. Had some guards with him that were told to keep people away. I was upset w/ my bro. He could have asked for an autograph. RVD could have said NO, them he would have had the privilege of saying RVD said NO to me. Ahhh, the power of a shirt. 🤘🤠
RVD was at that time was one of or if not the most popular wrestler on either roster and was left off the main card??? Not to mention kane and the dudleys....they couldve mix them all in that triple threat tag title match
My only Wrestlemania. Two nights before, I went to the fan festival and did a play-by-play with Tazz on which he tested the tea bag line. Tazz also used the term yambag, which he again used in the Hardy-Misterio match.
Speaking about buys I watched this at Hooters in Boston. Every Hooters in the country was showing it as well as a lot of bars for free which probably hurt buys.
I'm so glad we hosted a WrestleMania in the Pacific northwest been from Yakima WA Seattle only about 180 miles from home so I'm glad Seattle got to experience one of the greatest moments in WrestleMania history
29:40 Piper was one of the people interviewed on Spike TV to talk about the McMahon/Hogan rivalry, so I wasn't super surprised he showed up. Still cool, though.
I only ever had camera seats once. Over the Limit ppv. Forget what year. Punk got his head shaved, Orton broke his wrist pounding the canvas before the RKO and I caught Cena’s bright orange sweaty arm band.
This is a cult classic like WrestleMania. Was surprised to find out that it had less buys then the Royal Rumble(the other 2 times that happened were in '91 and '97) which is crazy because they added SCSA, Rock and Hogan to a card that already had solid performers and the build was great too. Regardless, this still holds up well.
This took place in my hometown and I really wish I was old enough at the time to attend this show (I was 5) because man do I love this show. Easily my favorite WM of all time!
honestly. the triple threat women's championship match is a bit underrated in my opinion cause the match isn't really talked about in the GREATEST WOMENS MATCHES by wwe it may not be the best match but i mean... come on the match is honestly pretty good and i vividly remember victoria's theme and the ambush and a few other moments from watching the show as a kid

June Amarillo okay?
Heyheyhey! I was in that crowd, too! I was touring with the Broadway musical Les Miz and took personal days so I could do Mania weekend. Great crowd. Great show. Being in the live crowd for HBK vs Y2J is a highlight of my wrestling fandom.
Vince's bird flips were always funny. He always retracted his other fingers instead bunching them into a fist like most people.
Victoria was so godlike back at this time. She really carried the Women's division.
Ryusuta Victoria extremely underrated

So I actually assumed Oklahoma was only a city in Texas. Because naming even a parody character after a whole state seems a little on the nose? I'm looking at Charlotte Flair as the example here. It is my 2nd favourite WrestleMania behind WrestleMania 17. Very solid all the way around
That was my dad’s favorite Wrestlemania. He grew up watching wrestling with my grandfather and great grandfather and over the years they would watch Wrestlemania together and WM19 was the first time in over a decade watching it together and got emotional and excited throughout the PPV
That's awesome!
your dad has terrific taste. that just goes to show the quality of matches on this card.
"For those unaware, it got blocked on Wednesday morning for copyright reasons. Made corrections and am putting it back up!"
I heard it was for Nathan Jones reasons
nathan Jones lactated all over the 1st upload?
Zane gives harsh criticism of Triple H Booker T match outcome...Triple H at the top of WWE....WWE blocks video...hmmmm....
I think he's petty enough to have told them to put in a copyright strike.
Tomspiracy!
@@micahjohnsonboxing6409 If Triple H personally made sure anything criticising him was blocked, do you really think he'd allow BZ's entire video dedicated to trashing 2002-05 HHH to still be up?

Robbie Hyde * X-Files Theme *
WWE also claimed EmpLemon's video on Monday Night Raw yesterday, I guess they're on a roll in screwing over people
EDIT: The Booker and Triple H feud was great up until H won. Using racism to build heat isn't a bad idea but obviously the hero needs to win. What they were trying to accomplish storyline wise we'll never know, but it was stupid as shit and an example of his pride winning over.
This is why i don't have respect for triple h, his ego ruined his legacy in my opinion, that and him marrying steph.
This is 100% correct, I think Brian could’ve put it across like this, racism as an angle of course can work, but the racist has to lose in the end!
r0gg_ ESPECIALLY at Wrestlemania
DOWNWARD SPIRAL. DOWNWARD SPIRAL. DOWNWARD SPIRAL. (Also EmpLemon got his video back up.)
Neck injuries really fuck you up.
Flair HAS to wrestle or go broke from all of his alimony payments.
Neck injuries are serious. Edge was also 38 when he first retired
You can ultimately thank Owen hart for that... too soon? Doesn’t matter, it’s true either way.
@ Because he wrestles every match the same, because he's not a mark for himself.
I wonder what did happen to grammar.
@Jackson Five Autocorrect is a curse. And no, it wasn't.
10:31 I bet that train was steamed when it found out A-Train lost.
Bet that booking drive it loco
Micheal Cole and that one train being hyped for A Train still sticks with me to this day
Say what you want about Vince McMahon but that shot of bloody Vince peering over the ring apron is the most iconic image ever.
Or Vince flipping off HBK, on a stretcher.
Yeah i always thought vince hogan and Austin always got color really good in matches specialy Stone Cold
Triple H being racist made it even better. I won't deny it was racist, it was and it was all the better for it.
But what didn't work was that Booker got buried by Triple H in this match. Booker clearly should have gone over.
I know that privilege feeling Brian , I was able to see Kurt Angle and Batista last match this year at mania 35
That daredevil out fit was super dope
35:13 I think Benoit would've been a great replacement for Angle. We could've had one hell of a triple threat afterwards.
Vince had the best facial reaction's
It took Austin 16 chair shots to put the Rock away at Wrestlemania 17. The Rock does 3 Rock Bottoms to put Austin away.
3:16...I can't believe I never noticed that before!
It's always nice to see people enjoy the electricity of Mania, I've been to 6 and 18 in TDot and 30 and 34 in Nola
To me this is the greatest wrestlemania of all time! a 5 star show for sure! CLASSIC!

Anyone remember how crazy Victoria with the T.A.T.U. song and lesbian persona was one of the craziest things at this moment in time? Highly underrated
So underrated, I loved it when I was 9. I thought she just being a tough badass I didn’t know she was doing a lesbian persona at this time
I never knew she was doing a lesbian gimmick because at this time she was with stevie Richards and thought there were a on screen couple.
I like the little reupload intro
Yeah. I think that's what CBS used for its specials in the 1970s.
What I remember most about this WM was this:
3 Leg Drops take out Vince
3 Rock Bottoms take out Austin
3 F5s take out Angle
and only 1 Pedigree takes out Booker T.
TheBraunMachine2011 true
christ m8..i couldnt even bring meself2read ur whole comment after seeing how long it was..im pretty sure i agree w everything u said here.lol i like ur style, like ur moves😎
Matt Hardy/Rey Mysterio aside from horrendous referee spots was and remains a hidden gem.
Fun fact- Tommy Dreamer was with Talent Relations at the time and he signed Abyss for this Wrestlemania match, but Abyss got cold feet, liked staying with TNA, and backed out, which is why Show and A-Train were put there instead.
Undertaker vs Abyss? Holy crap!
With the way Vince’s was booking can’t blame him and I liked abyss when he was in tna
Dumbest decisions in Wrestlemania history:
3) Hulk Hogan getting and winning an instant title shot at WM IX
2) Triple H going over Booker T in "that way" (edges out Hogan because of the race based feud ending wrongly)
And 1) making it 7 hrs long so by the time the main event happens, the crowd is tired and doesnt give a shit.
Honorable mention: Reigns main eventing 4 manias in a row (we'll see about 5), simply for the transparency of it all.
Making a jobber winning MITB 2007 and ending the streak
Hulk Hogan main eventing Mania... dumb decision???....
@@KiddsWorldEntertainment Just realised he meant WM9, thought he was on about 18. My bad, didn't read the comment properly.
Steak & Kidney Pie All good, it happens
You just know that Coach getting pantsed was a direct call from Vince.
It's because the ending of WM17, The Invasion Angle, and Austin leaving were the catalyst for the declining buy rates.
@@vDeadboltnot really, the highest bought mania for a while was 23, 28, and x8 and 20 were very successful
@@messykid1234 Okay, but that doesn't really disprove my point. 2002 was a rough year financially due to many factors, one of them being Austin leaving and the Invasion killing interest. If Hogan didn't come back, X8 wouldn't have sold either.

This is a cult classic like WrestleMania.
