Hi Aaron, I listen to you regularly and I am a bit surprised. The way you described Lou's looks in the beginning did not sit well me personally. Yes I get that she looks similar to Tom on the photo, but basically mocking her, calling her unattractive and man-like-looking seems a bit different from your usual thoughtful standard in speaking about women. Which I really appreciate. No offense to you, just my personal opinion about this part of the video.

The more I watch and learn about this cult, the more confused I become as to how this is possible in the USA. How is it possible for SM to be unaccounted for in this day and age. It sounds like an evil king in the 1500s, not actual people who live in our country today. I just don’t get it.

Interesting isn't it, that an abuse of power is not this if it is called a rule in the CoS. DM is like an authoritarian parent, these rules appear to be made because the last thing he wants is another mouth to feed, children cost the church for years huh, he only wants working age members.
Dave won't divorce Shelly as long as the "marriage" prevents her from testifying against him. Once she dies, she no longer can testify, of course.
She can testify if she wants to. Being a spouse only prohibits you from being subpoenaed. But if you want to testify against your spouse, there is nothing to stop you.

Why would it be so much of a stretch for DM to have 'done away with' Shelly? We've heard that he is violent with people behind the scenes, we know he has a hair-trigger temper, is it possible he lost it and things got out of hand or during even a minor scuffle she hit her head or something? That would certainly explain all the weirdness about it but i don't know him, never been in Scientology, so what do I know? He seems to have all the markers of a psychopath.
This is absolutely what I think happened. I think they would have Weekend at Shelly's her if they even could remotely do that and if her body was in any sort of shape to force her to parade around in public. I think he had a rage fit, oops happened, and they've been doing this stuff ever since.
Maybe I've watched too much true crime, but I can't help thinking the same thing. Any other rich guy whose wife disappeared would have cops crawling all over them, looking for her, looking for clues. Look at Barry Morphew, for instance.

Love this full interview. I disagree with your logic (very unusual), COB doesn’t want to follow rules that everyone else has to. He would appreciate the power of not following the rules and guidelines…ie not divorcing and intentionally not hiding Lou. I think it's possible he did some legal shenanigans behind the scenes. But for the same reason he won't show Shelly alive could be the same reason he won't divorce. BUT Aaron, I'd think you'd reach out to the former COB Office staff who are out, and who've even done media, like the other women who worked in COB's Office or in RTC and witnessed those years when there were special COB Communicators of various types. Tanya Lewis is out, she did TV shows on her escape even. Others who were in RTC and saw that team of I think four total communicators and then Shelly was COB Asst. There were the 1980s when that full team all worked together..
Even in 1991, I was in INCOMM, and the INCOMM computer room with the servers was directly adjacent to COB's (Miscavige's) office space, meaning HIS desk, and then Carol's desk, and then another desk, the desks for Shelly, for Carol, for Tanya and then for the other one or two COB Communicators, all were within direct office space or adjacent room, to Miscavige's desk. This was for admin paperwork setup so he had the paperwork he demanded to be brought to him for approval.
The paperwork upkeep around Miscavige, over the decades, would be important to list out, by the ex's of RTC who witnessed that paperwork, all the banker's boxes of submissions that came to him, that whole paperwork approval lines was policed and managed and the Secretaries and the Communicators and then Shelly, all had various parts to play in that final upkeep of stuff that HE wanted to follow him, trail him around the US when he went off to events, to DC during that time of the IRS settlement, etc.
His paperwork he demanded to be kept up to date on, over the decades, and WHO in the COB Office were the paperwork gatekeepers and handlers so that he got ALL of the submissions' sub parts all brought to him for "approval" etc, all the RTC staffers on those lines, will know of the physical interactions.
Also at RTC parties, up to the time s those last were held, all the RTC private gatherings, musters, awards, over the years, will be people who saw Misavige's daily interactions between Lou and Miscavige over the years.
Meaning ask Tanya about whether she thinks Lou even was an "item" in Miscavige's mind. Shelly at least told someone, near the end before she got banished, she suspected something between Miscavige and Lou.
But Miscavige's narcissism and those traits, mixed with what the RTC staff saw over the years, pretty much will be it. And what the people like Vallery Haney, the "service" people on Miscavige's lines, who saw how Lou got treatment her being around Miscavige all the time.
But, it's all kind of much ado about nothing, in the bigger scheme of this Scientology outfit.
Scientology is a crackpot pseudo-therapy and exorcism quackery subject. Miscavige is just a nasty paperpusher "strategic" "the buck stops here" at his narcissistic asshole role that he lives out, just due to Hubbard's crappy Sea Org and Hubbard's own personal flaws about how to "run" this Scientolog crackpot pseudo-therapy/exorcism practice.
There are truly monumental undercutting issues about this whole nutball Scientology subject, which are the beliefs in the benefits of doing the Hubbard crackpot past lives soul memories alleviating pseudo-therapy and exorcism.
Scientology when you wash away all the Hubbard ordered nasty dodging counter-attacking framework cult bureaucracy paperpushers with "strategic" authoriy which is shackled by Hubbard's own nasty framework and regulations, even if you set all this Miscavige era narcissism and his stuck in Hubbard's regulations, Scientology is still crackpottery at bottom.
The soul theories of Scientology are at bottom what to me, that is why I was there. Are these soul theories conceivably true, do us humans have a soul that we are, at bottom, and through doing all the Hubbard stepladder of "auditing" (auditing is the crackpot pseudo-therapy supposedly aiming us to delve into our soul memories and alleviate ourselves of our past lives and all the "implanting" we've received in past lives, etc, etc) and then Scientology's "secret" (no longer, leaked and explained on the internet) "upper levels" of the OT 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 exorcism of the R6 implanted "body-thetans" (invisible and messed up souls without bodies that infest all humans today) and only the Scientology super secret exorcism steps of OT 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 can even remove, supposedly, these surplus invisible souls off our human bodies, THAT all is what Scientology is.
A person could just read up on the internet, ALL of the spread out materials leaked to the internet, of the past lives pseudo-therapy "commands' used when Scientologist do their pseudo-therapy on one another; and one could read up on the exorcism procedures and "commands' used when the Scientologists supposedly strip off all the "body-thetans" which supposedly attach to their human bodies, a person could cut through all the regulations and Miscavige enforcing of the Hubbard horrible regulations and control of the members, and just read up on the quackery soul pseudo-therapy/exorcism of Scientology, and conceivable DO the quackery on oneself.
To me, that is the biggest not properly framed and considered issue basic to even getting one's head around scientology.
Scientology is a pseudo-therapy and exorcism practice, bottom underneath all the cult bureaucracy horror show soap opera, and regulations that turns the members inside out into brainwashed followers who can't think straight anymore.
Hubbard built this POS setup, and it takes a narcissist to keep it going.
The fact that splinter Scientology is so tiny, and itself hasn't broken through even some of the Hubbard regulations they are stuck self enforcing on themselves, due to Hubbard's wide writings they even still adhere to, is a big subject to discuss, but not something really anyone is much interested in.

That's not a winner either, but that's to me square zero the type of "freezone" discussion that I've not even see any "freezone" Scientologists even game to take up. (1) The fact that most high positioned people are trained to not make assumptions about intimate relationships, is in fact a possible case FOR the fact that something in their body language and other social cues HEAVILY suggested that they are an intimate couple.
(2) The assumption that the most powerful person in a sinister unregulated private organisation must uphold an image consistent with the law he enforced is flawed. Power. Allows someone to get away with EVERYTHING. Including hypocrisy. Unchallenged.
IMO DM seems to be a psychopath that is only interested in himself and getting his needs met. And who inside of Scientology will hold him accountable?
Staying married makes him appear more stable to the outside world and more of a leader. Men use women for that all the time, that's why girls are groomed into dreaming about their wedding day from childhood. Having an official wife is a status symbol for men and many confuse it with ownership. He wants a clean image on the outside so that people don't ask questions.
And he doesn't divorce her because then she wouldn't be able to claim marital status at interrogations. She knows enough to bring him down big time.
No one can legally divorce someone who is dead. And you can’t remarry until former spouses are either dead or divorced. And why would anyone issue a death certificate if there is a murder, or accidental death? Murder is messy. But accidental death by definition is never planned? Why is it so hard for anyone to imagine this as a possible scenario given his history of physical violence and out of control rage? Or are you afraid of getting sued by Scientology for defamation?

The spousal testimonial privilege precludes one spouse from testifying against the other spouse in criminal or related proceedings. Divorced couples don’t have this protection anymore.
Here's my two cents. If Dave is getting his happy ending every so often, but it's gotta be secret, maybe that means she's gotta take off right after. In other words, he's got an excuse to not have to wake up next to her, or have lovey-dovey small talk afterwards.

I think it is absoutely possible for Dave to still be married to Shelly and be with Lou. I know there was this absolute rule when A-A-Ron was in COS, but let's think about how every day Dave gets more and more narcissistic and aggressive with his own way and getting it, no matter what. He completely changed what LRH (for the most part) started as COS, so why would he care about what people think about his love life? And he knows no one will question him. They will always allow him to be and do what he wants because they are so brainwashed to think that anything he does is what's best for COS. Even Aaron admits no matter what people would have told him about Dave when he was in, he wouldn't have cared. He would have made it OK in his head because that's what cults and brainwashing do. It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume someone is married in the non cult world. We are not hypersensitive to the rules you were raised with. It isn’t insulting to be said to be married if you aren’t. But it IS awkward to explain that you aren’t married but this isn’t your wife at your side. So he might have chosen to not correct someone.
Lou wasn't involved directly with COB before 2004. I was closely involved with COB for years while Shelly was his right hand man so to speak. She was always right there with him through any time he went anywhere. Lou wasn't there with them. Though she may have been in his office staff. Uwe didn't die until 2007.

I don't mean to kind of state the obvious, but divorce decrees are a matter of public record. It wouldn't be too difficult to find out if Dave and Shelly are divorced. It might be time-consuming because you'd have to figure out the state and county the divorce was filed in, but if they're divorced, there's a public record of it out there somewhere.
