"it takes time to heal, it's not the time that does it" I love that, and reinforces the the fact that we need self-care and to be proactive about our healing.

This song is from the perspective of the ones who lost someone to self deletion not the self deleter. It's about mourning. 8:35

As a comment about religious imagery - you need a bit of a handle on the British educational system - we have a reasonably relentless Church of England influence, so, even if you come out at the end a full on believer, a births, marriages, and deaths Anglican, agnostic, or trenchant atheist. One thing we all get out of having it pushed from age 5 is that we all understand religious metaphor. It's a decent shorthand that works across more of the continent - the two cultural tentpoles of wider European culture are the effects of war, and the influence of the Church. The baseline is, one needn't believe to mutter something about Balm in Gilead or similar.

Paraphrased from Ren himself in the twitch stream after Hi Ren was released…
“While I don’t necessarily consider myself religious…I like humans’ explanations of the divine. I like the stories.”
I think he’s also aware that the religious imagery resonates with a lot of people…it’s a shortcut for communication and meaning.

This is from the perspective of the mourner the Midas touch isn't the dead man's touch, you keep saying the perspective is the dead man's but it's not which completely changes the meaning of the song. Those who remain forget how to be themselves when someone close dies you ignore the mourners for whom the song is made.

it can be hard to hear the stories if you dont listen this is about the mourners a father that loses a son is still a father but is he or does he forget how to be himself? do our saviors die to soon? do our children save us? do our brothers and sisters and friends does their perspective help shape us do we forget how to be ourselves? the eyes of a son might make a father quit the bottle & if that son is lost he may forget to be his sober self forgets how to be the him that was better but now their sins surround them mourners suffocate under the weight of the loss. lower ur shield and listen this is a tool for you to help those who mourn.
