This is why I love mind pump so much, not only does it teach me about nutrition and exercise but it's also basically therapy on how to integrate your whole self, to examine your motivations rather than acting out of self-denial and self-hatred. I really love Sal's message of how we should change our behaviors out of self-love and self-care. Such a healthy message. Thank you guys for all that you do!

Justin saying how burying your issues down erodes you from the inside is the most accurate statement ever made. I am currently dealing with something I’ve buried for the last 13 years. Speaking those buried emotions to another human was the most scary, emotional, and freeing thing I’ve done in my entire life. Taking that first step on the path of healing is very empowering.

I also want to add that I deeply appreciate your non judgment approach to issues such as obesity, self care, and weaknesses that are difficult to correctly identify in the first place and without that clarity seemingly impossible to change, at least in the longterm. This approach is authentic and real vs making it solely a self discipline problem/issue. Thank you!!!!!

OMG Sal, I can relate so much to being hyper independent, being the giver and never expecting or even accepting anything for myself.
My health journey (down 85 pounds in 6 years), was so much more mental work. Changing my mindset about so many things and making the small changes that add up over time to a total lifestyle change and to keep evolving to being a better self.

This is the first time commenting on one of your podcasts. I have enjoyed every show that I've listened to and found value in spending my time this way. ❤️ This particular episode hits me directly in my heart. Everything you've said, both of you is exactly what I needed to hear in this moment! I am in awe of how these seemingly coincidences are becoming the new norm for me. As soon as I ask a question about something that is coming up in my life, the answers (or understanding) appear! You've brought clarity to me today. Identifying the problem, ask questions for clarity and understanding, and the ability to break or change the patterns becomes more of a natural process than a fight for the fittest! Thank you!

Another great show. So many things resonate with me. Finding out that strength training at 61 is giving me far better gains. I'm stronger, not necessarily leaner (yet) have a greater libido and getting the confirmation that eating more protein means less cravings. I also agree taking the UK out of the alcohol consumption usage would greatly change the calculation, much to my frustration, we really let our nation down.

So the other day at my daughter's softball practice I was showing how to properly get out of the way when a ball is about to hit them. Literally all I did was squat ass to grass and stand back up and some other dad from the bleachers said "oh you're gonna feel that in the morning." Like he thought I would be completely wrecked for a single bodyweight squat, absolutely crazy. I'm only 35, and I think this other dad is probably 40, but how out of shape do you have to be where a single bodyweight squat will just wreck you. To flex on him a little I ran sprints with the team after practice.

A cure for Psoriasis is cold showers do for 10-30 seconds a day it will go away, my husband had it in his scalp beard, knees, and elbows, for years we found this out by accident, cold therapy is good for inflammation which is also linked to Psoriasis and other skin conditions. Red-light therapy is amazing for your body boosts the mitochondrion in your cells, I have used it for 5 years it helps with pain in general and muscle soreness from doing weight training, and I have also used it on my dog and cat when they have had injuries, put it in direct contact with the skin, I bought mine from Leanne Venier on UA-cam. 😀

75 HARD is the first step of the Live Hard program, it's not about forcing yourself through a fitness program. It's about developing mental toughness, facing your problems, not bury them like you said, and habits of self-discipline, which helps you be a successful human being overall. It's not about hating yourself and punishing yourself. People are too weak today, and they're being told it's ok to need a safe space and stay in their little comfort bubble while the world should tip toe around their triggers. It's pathetic and why society is crumbling. You sound like what's with the world.

I was really pro legalization of drugs. I think there are pockets in America where it was successful and other countries do it well. But, culturally it was a disaster here, like skid row is not the place to have decriminalized drugs. It’s just insane in Oregon now. We don’t have medical, mental, housing supports that can sustain normal people, let alone addicts and mentally ill to make decriminalizing drugs a success. It’s literally just turned into anarchy.

The gut microbiome is the key to longevity.
Many great philosophers and theologians have all related thoughts to this.
    Socrates :
Worthless people live only to eat and drink; people of worth eat and drink only to live
I had such bad IBS I refrained from going out.
It was almost like as soon as I was putting it in my mouth it was coming out of the other end.
I've mastered strengthening the gut microbiome I do everything!
Not one molecule of any unnatural compound.
Say goodbye to carrageenan gum say goodbye to polysorbate 80
Say goodbye to all preservatives and natural flavors and colorings.
Introduce minimum 35 grams of fiber per day all from fibrous carbohydrates.
Eat minimum 100 g of assorted nuts and seeds chia seeds etc.
Allow no more than 25 grams of sugar per day and all should come from nutritive sweeteners like honey or coconut sugar etc.
During 3 l of wate per day
Of course eat all probiotics prebiotics and postbiotics that you can in right amount.
I mono eat, so I eat the foods one at a time and I allow approximately 10 minutes between foods.
Now my poops are 3 ft long and they're like Italian sausages but the best part is I don't need toilet paper anymore.
    Dry as a bone.
Thanks to people Like Sal, Adam and Doug, Mark Hyman and Dr Li, and many many more I follow about a dozen of them.
I have reversed heart disease and diabetes psoriatic arthritis, severe psoriasis, even Achilles tendinitis that I was suffering from over 30 years!! Was always wearing compression socks ice , cold baths massages very limited time I was able to stand on my feet, now I can walk 15,000 steps I couldn't walk 500 before could barely stand up for more than 15 minutes all day.
As soon as I put my body into optimal nutritional state magic has been happening.
I urge everyone to eat as clean as you can for one year and reply to this comment in a year and thank me.

Can you guys talk about functional training in relation to weight lifting and resistance training as you age? Because I was listening to a podcast where these functional training guys completely dismantled exercises like squat, deadlift, and bench press stating all these are not only bad but increase risk of many injuries. They focus more on like plyometric or body weight exercises ONLY. Despite all the science that states the benefits of building muscle from a weight lifting perspective. I wonder what are you guys thoughts on that? As a trainer I'm always interested in educating myself and clients for long life improvements.
I found there Instagram! These workouts are good for movement but definitely does not replace all out resistance weight training, sprints, etc...
