- We will look at the Wood-Mizer LT40 vs. the LT35 with the double vs single mast system. A question on this subject and was presented and I thought I would give an overview of them both while I still had them both on my possession.

Over 1300 hours on two LT40s, never had an issue with less than smooth forward movement. I lube all rails every 8 hours with ATF on an old sock.
That’s great!! I lubricant with ATF frequently. I have had no issues with forward or reverse movements along the rail. Only slightly sticky/jumpy down operation.
Congratulations again on the new mill. Yea the saw dust build up under the mask can be a pain.
I’ve been looking for a good ideal to cure the problem , but just had the time to mess with it yet.
Take care and run that mill.. and keep them videos rolling …
Thanks, I thought about just cutting the perforated section out. But haven’t looked at it closely enough to know if that would work.
Interesting comparison -- on the sawdust, it's just there ;) I worry about it on band changes and if something gets bound up (like a chunk in the drive motor/chain gears). The mast I lube in the AM with ATF and a paint brush and lube in the PM as well. Might seem weird but it works ;) Never have an issue with smooth operation (it's always smooth).
I’m thinking doing something with that battery box. I lubricant about every 4 hours on the mast. I’ve been using a sponge.
My new mill was supposed to be an LT35. I even ordered one. About 2 weeks before delivery (delivery was a ridiculous 9-10 weeks back then) WM called and said they had an LT40 that the customer changed their mind on and would I want it. YUP!
I've never regretted it.
Dave
I love my 35. It has been a perfect mill. I just got tired of turning logs by hand.
Forgot too mention, I'm still 15mo out! So please keep the videos coming!!
Good job
Thanks
Hello Dusty Ranch! I really enjoyed this video, very informative. I recently ordered a lt40 super myself. It will be my first mill ever,so I have alot of learning to do! I really appreciate all the videos that you and all the other guys put out, great job! I noticed you didn't get a debarker, nor did I. If I may ask,why did you choose to not get one?
Thanks Jimmy and congrats !! Hopefully it will be delivered sooner than the projected date. Honestly it was a price thing. I’ve never had one on my lt35. talking to other guys who have debarker it didn’t seem like they were getting many more BF per blade.
Two 3x3 heavy wall tubes turned V out and tied together at 28in centers are signifantly stronger and more rack resistant than a single 3x6 tube. Anything w/ 2 contact points over a larger span will be more susceptible to binding compared to a single contact point system. I personally prefer 4 post mills and circle mills but to each their own.
Indeed.
Wow that is definitely some totally different pros and cons for sure, i can imagine you'll try and come up with something too knock out that dust piling up. Great insight video between the two 👍
Yeah I’m going to have to figure that out.
@@DustyRanch i been looking at i may have a few ideas
Good job. 👍
Thanks Jerry!
I run an old 96 Lt40SH with Lamberdine engine. I have 1935 hours on the Engine. Ive heard they go out at around 2000hrs. Scary. May have to upgrade engines.
@@jerrylittle8922 may want to check the availability. The way things have been back ordered, it may pay to get one on order.
New to you I’m also a Woodmizer Man
Awesome!! What model are you running?
I have a 40. Never been around a 35 but it looks weak to me.
It’s been a great unit for me. Held up remarkably well and sawed a bunch of lumber.
Dusty ranch has sawed a ton for me with the LT35 and it's a work horse 💪
I started with the Lt 35 manual, & I loved it.
Great comparison video, keep them coming buddy 👍🧡🧡
