    I LOVE your videos! They are so helpful and I just received my first doll kit a couple days ago. I have been watching so many tutorials and then i found you and i love that your dolls aren't super red or orange. they're very lifelike and their skin is so much more realistic. Thank you for posting!!

    You are amazing! I am an artist who has just discovered reborns and was convinced it was out of my budget to ever make my own baby. You have given me hope. I can not get over Clover's hair, it is soooo realistic. Also, ignore your husband her eyebrows are perfect! Lol. I'm so glad I found your channel you are an inspiration.

    I haven't tried reborning a doll yet, but hope to find time to start some practice pieces in the next couple of months or so. I hope to have finished as many as I plan on completing by the end of spring. I'm thinking if the arthritis in my hands will alow, I might get three to five dolls complete by mid to late spring. Thank you so much for the video. It was very informative. My art background should help pretty well with my hue and tonal balance awareness. Can't wait to get started.

    • @lifewithsharonb5138
      @lifewithsharonb5138  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, layering is very important. After flesh tone, you can add a little bit of red/purple to the flesh to give it more life; if too red, add some yellows; if too peach or yellow add some purples or blues. It's important to look at each layer and compare with your own skin tone, too. Different ethnic groups have different tones - I'm sure you already know that! I prefer blue/purple undertones to peach undertones myself. Good luck and let me know how your first doll turns out!

    It's very relaxing and informative. Basically you go with very "subtle" layers (very diluted colors), starting with a skin color that you keep perfecting with the neutrilizing/warming laser and in beetwin you add details as veins "mottling" (spell correct?? ) frackles..i am in love with the yellow on the nose.

    • @lifewithsharonb5138
      @lifewithsharonb5138  4 роки тому +3

      Exactly. I add blue (subtly) at the bridge of the nose and on the sides of the lower nose also on the inside ankle bone area and in the center of the bottom of the foot. Blue needs to be added very carefully because it is difficult to correct if it's too dark. I add purple (thin, watery layer) where baby's skin is thinner like the crease on the inside of the knee. I mix blue with purple and put it on the bulb of the thumb on the underside. I sometimes dab a little bit of this color above the eyebrows too. I will add a hint of yellow on the upper forehead just under the hairline in the front, too.

My camera is broken, waiting for another, so thus no videos for quite a while. My sister passed away on Easter. She was suffering with brain cancer and a host of other complications. She hung in there for weeks, until they put her in hospice on Thursday. We are going to be ok, but my poor brother-in-law and my sister were together for 59 years - married for 54 and dating for 5. She left behind 3 lovely ladies (my nieces) and 6 grand children. They were a very close family. I was sad that I couldn't fly up to NJ from FL, but I stayed in constant touch on the phone. Just wanted someone to know. Thanks for your prayers. Sharon

    Hello Sharon I am practising air dry painting and am having a go at painting hair as well . What do you use if you make a mistake and you want to remove some to re-do it? I thought it was water but that wouldn't work so wondered if you used something different ? Thanks Sharon from Julie 🥰👍Your videos helped me make my mind up to use air dry paints so you have already been very helpful and Clover is gorgeous 🧡💜💛❤️💚💙

      @lifewithsharonb5138  5 років тому +1

      Hi Julie. Try using rubbing alcohol mixed with water. If that doesn't work, try just rubbing alcohol, but it will remove a LOT! If you want to start conservatively, just use a little Dawn dishwashing liquid mixed with hot water. Then add some rubbing alcohol with water and take it from there. If you want to remove everything down to the bare vinyl, then you will need paint remover, which has a horrid smell, or nail polish remover, which also has a horrid smell. Hope this helps a little. Good luck! Sharon

    I didn't know you could use just thinned out acrylic paint to make a baby. It still looks amazing. All this time i thought you had to have the specialty paints but nope

      Thank you. I have slowed down tremendously with making reborns, but I will try. I will certainly do a video if I do an ethnic baby or a Black baby. God bless

    Could you please give us a demonstration of how you paint the baby's hair with your rake brush lol?

      I actually use a different brush these days - I use a thin script liner which allows me to do the fine baby hairs on the sides. The rake brush is good for starting the general pattern. Hope this helps. Thank you! Sharon

    What a beautiful baby you have created! Thank you so much for sharing your process. You are very talented and the obvious pleasure that you have from what you do comes out in your videos. :) I have a doll that has a shiny look to her skin instead of the flat matt that I'd like her to have. Especially on her face. Do you have any suggestions as to how I could take the shine away?

      I use Genesis Thinning Medium applied with a mop brush on a cosmetic wedge that has the top ripped off to create texture. I bake in my nu-wave oven at power level 6 for 10 minutes, wait for the vinyl to cool and re-bake. You can use Plaid Folk Art Glass & Tile Medium applied and pounced with a cosmetic wedge as well (if you don't want to bake). This take some practice and requires a few coats. This product is available at Joann's fabrics, or ebay, or directly from plaid folk art's website.

      Thank you very much for your quick reply! I already have some of the Glass & Tile Medium on it's way to me in the mail right now! So I guess that's what I'll try first. :) Can the Genesis Thinning Medium be used after having applied the Glass & Tile Medium if it doesn't "matt it down" enough? Also, I don't have a nu-wave oven. Just a regular one in my kitchen. Can I use that and what heat would you suggest?

      When you use the glass & tile medium, you need to stir it really well with a wooden craft stick, because the thick part rests at the bottom, and that's the part you really want. Yes, you can use the thinning medium on top of the glass & tile medium. I would not use an oven in my home, as the fumes will go throughout your house and they are not safe. I only bake in my portable oven either outside when the weather cooperates or in my garage. You can google what temp to bake your kit. I actually don't remember. I put my nu-wave oven on power level 6 for 10 minutes. Wait for the vinyl to cool, and re-bake.
