    Gorgeous ❤. I'm wondering, with all the wonderful brights, and batiks, do you pre-wash?

    • @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
      @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise  Місяць тому +1

      No I don't prewash, Nancy! I find the fabric easier to work with as it's purchased. There's rarely any problems with colors running. The only time I've had an issue was with a deep red batik next to a white fabric. The steam from ironing caused the color to run. It's wasn't too bad but noticeable closeup. It's a personal call you need to make. Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting,
      Lea Louise

    Lea, thank you for everything you do for the community. I would like to make this block using fat quarters. Anything I should be careful about? I’m not sure how to cut the FQs. Help please

    • @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
      @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise  7 днів тому +1

      Absolutely! Check out the video below which is when I first started this quilt.
      ua-cam.com/video/gpjvQQbCzRI/v-deo.html
      Download this tutorial:
      inspired-quilting-by-lea-louise.ck.page/0ca695c628
      These are the size squares you'll need:
      10” Center square trimmed to 8.5”
      10” Background square trimmed to 9.25”
      10” Star Points square cut into four 5” squares
      10” each of Background and Accent cut into four 5” squares
      Before cutting I divided my fabrics between center squares, star points, and corner squares.
      Begin cutting the largest squares first then cut the smaller pieces.
      Lay your fat quarters out for cutting. You can stack a few if you're comfortable cutting multiple layers.
      Start by cutting an 8.5-inch strip for your center blocks and cross cut into two 8.5-inch squares. You should be able to get four squares per FQ. Alternatively you can just cut one of the above strips and then get four 5-inch squares. I hope these suggestions give you some helpful ideas! Thanks so much for watching. Happy Quilting,
      Lea Louise

    Of course it will twist, you skipped ironing some of your blocks, which you tell us not to do. I like the instructions, but keep to your own rules I also iron the side flying geese pieces before I attempt to put them onto the center blocks, before adding the other pair of flying geese.

    • @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
      @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise  Місяць тому +4

      Pressing all the seams as you go is the best bet, Lynn. While I'm not always able to move around freely when recording, I finger press which helps a great deal. I do explain why I'm not pressing so folks will understand what's going on. Pressing definitely makes assembling the block much easier! Thanks so much for watching. Happy Quilting,
