awesome work! before the midi controller video was over I was opening a new tab and googling monologue desktop version hahaha. then once I realised you had built it I came right here. I have the minilogue and love it. think the monologue is next on my list! keep up the good work.
Personally I'm not too into wood for synths, but nice job and nice presentation! I'd love to see someone mod the monologue or the minilogue with an aluminum or stainless case. Just make it a compact brick without any slant to the case, something similar to the form factor of the Elektron synths.
I recently bought a monologue that had been crushed to hell - had to replace all the potentiometers and clean the circuit boards, but I managed to bring it back to life minus the keybed (too lazy to order a replacement board or solder the existing one). As such, I am hoping to reproduce something like what you have done here, although I have very few tools at my disposal. One thing I hope to add is a battery pack inside for a couple of 18650 cells, which will put out close to the required 9 volts you get from six AAs. I also have some aluminium knobs on there since the replacement pots came with their own knobs. Thanks for the inspiration!
Came straight from your main channel video. Loved this one as well. I really really like the music, right up my street. Went to see Minami Deutsch this week and just bought tickets for Wooden Shjips. You'd have fitted right on the bill
It's beautifully done. I'm now thinking of doing mine, but just by taking it apart and chopping off the plastic keys section after disconnecting the keys. I don't have the tools, or ability to do this as well as you have. 👍
When it said 'mod' I was thinking of electronic mods. One of the reasons I like the Monologue is for its portability. It runs on batteries and I can play it anywhere. I can see that although you have made it smaller, which for portability is great, I won't be able to play it. Seriously, it looks great.
Nice. I’m planning on doing something similar to my Sub phatty, but with a metal case so I can have more desktop space as well. Thanks for sharing this.
Korg pay attention. I want one! Like all of us space is at a premium, we already have our favorite keyboard controller. Don't need the keyboard. I hate the" E" to "E" (as opposed to the C to C) but love the guts. Wish I had the talent to make this module. Incredible job.
Very nice!! Been wanting to do this to a few of my synths. Interesting to see there is no shielding inside the Monologue. It would be nice if there were more factory desktop versions rather than just colour variants.
This is so good! it would be great if you could share the laser cut file for the rear side! Think I’m gonna do this to mine too. Cheers and thanks for sharing your process.
Fantastic! You've got another fan for your channel! I'm ready to give my ol' Korg Micro-X a makeover now. It's keyboard is too short as well and i have a controller keyboard to play it if i want to. :-) Looking forward to the desk-makeover video! Thanks for the share, you're an inspiration!
I would like that myself, but you have used very professional tools that ain't something you would find in an ordinary household. I wonder if there would be a similar outcome if you just use simple tools.. hmm. i'd like that challenge, but i don't have a minilogue yet. I returned mine cause the keybed was bothering me. Have no use for keybeds :) If there's a chance i get it to a desktop format like you did i would buy one.
Really really great idea! Thanks for sharing. I wish Korg would do this themselves. I don't need that keyboard on there, and there are many out there who also don't.
clearly some specialized equipment you have here. Drop down drills, laser computer controlled cutters etc. Not something anyone could just do in their garage like you kinda suggest. But well done it does look great (except for that silver edge at the bottom I woulda made that black)
@@RetroPlus oh ok thx for answering id like to do the same but keeping the key board and make is look like a moog subsequent , one question tho , do the keyboard card work without the keys ? i d love to replace them with pads minibrute 2S style
Awesome tuneage and a masterfully modded module! BTW, I own the Monologue and a set of those Behringer Truth speakers too...now I think I need to find a skull.... ;-P Subscribed!!!
I notice right at the beginning the synth seems to have a wooden panel at the back. I'm curious about whether you thought about reattaching it and why you decided against? Is it a space/shape consideration?
At some point in the future I'm going to be upgrading a toy piano with some real hardwood to make it sturdy and, as you've shown here, to make it sexy.
Great work! Had a slight giggle on 2:28 since you use Wipe-On Poly on a monophonic synth :P
Honestly, what dazzles me the most out of this video is such impressive set of tools this guy owns... 😮
That opening track is dope as hell dude. Keep up the great work!
"why I removed the keys of this synthesizer" because you're amazing and it's the grandest gesture.
You are the master if the seven deadly synths.
extraordinary work on the wood making tabletop monologue.
awesome work!

Right on, thanks! I really like the monologue!

Love the finished look of your pieces for these kind og projects! Keep it up!
Thanks!
Another beautiful day with your analog VCOs and your MICRO JIG! MAKERS OF THE GRR-RIPPER!

One keyboard to rule them all !!!!!! Nice work and hi from France
I can see you're a presonus fanboy : ) Great monologue mod : ) Greets from a synth freak from Poland.

I like Wooden Shjips, will have to check out Minami Deutsch! Thanks!
Wow that is what I call art. I felt the passion. Cool AF. You are a clever bastard. Am a bit jelly.
Really improved the look. Nice details.
Great! I just painted the tiny markers on the knobs with white paint, because they are so hard to see as they come.
I just found your channel, great stuff. I did a project just like this for my Behringer BCF2000!
It's beautifully done. I'm now thinking of doing mine, but just by taking it apart and chopping off the plastic keys section after disconnecting the keys. I don't have the tools, or ability to do this as well as you have. 👍
Saw waves for the saw shots. Smooth.
Haha!
Loved the music! The whole time watching the beat just got me and I kept wondering who it was from, pretty awesome it's you. Do it more often!
Fantastic workmanship. Really impressive and practical mod.
Wow, talk about a precise and beaultiful diy work! Congrats

So Mr Korg this is how you do it!!! this should be in the stores!!!
Wonder if that voids the warranty.....
Only if they realize it is not an official product - so its the EX-Monologue!
It actually transforms the warranty to a lifetime one.
Holy shit... amazing!
Taking one screw out voids the warranty
Jim Beshears 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
So rad, David! A phenomenal one-two punch of inspiration today!
Nice. I’m planning on doing something similar to my Sub phatty, but with a metal case so I can have more desktop space as well. Thanks for sharing this.

Killer work man! We need to do a music-related build collab, Moog is based here in Asheville.... :)
Asheville North Carolina
The edit, tracks and project are 🔥🔥🔥!
I enjoyed this video as much as the main channel version! 👍
Yep! Wish all synth makers made desktop versions of their keybed hogs. Bravo! :)
Agreed!!
What I wish was Rolly keybeds became incorporated more. I want polyphonic aftertouch and those stroke surfaces. Don't really like 2 separate units.
nice, am thinking on doing this with my Minilogue XD (without removing the keys), googled around and found you. Nice job!
Amazing! Looks so much better!
sending this to my buddy with a CNC router. Well done!
Beautiful woodwork!
Very nice!! Been wanting to do this to a few of my synths. Interesting to see there is no shielding inside the Monologue. It would be nice if there were more factory desktop versions rather than just colour variants.
Amazing, exactly the kind of mod I'm looking to do!
Excellent job, it looks fantastic.
Looks slick! Glad it worked out.
This what I always wanted to do with my BassStation2. Nice video!
wicked awesome dude!....you have great skills with the tools you use.
Another great video Mr Penuche!
Cool. It would be wonderful if you did the same job with the Roland JD-Xi, putting it in a vintage wood case.
This is so good!
it would be great if you could share the laser cut file for the rear side!
Think I’m gonna do this to mine too.
Cheers and thanks for sharing your process.
Awesome quality. I'm really surprised!
Fantastic! You've got another fan for your channel!

The video was awesome. The music was badass!
Super cool! Looks great! 👍🏻
That is really, really cool and I'm really impressed.
What a brilliant video, you did an excellent job of the mod, would love this doing to mine for more space also. ..great work
I personally think the best look for this would be to make it look as close as possible to the MS-20m Kit module. Nice work though.
Awesome work!
This is excellent. And the music was very good, too.
That is an awesome synth and a great project
I would like that myself, but you have used very professional tools that ain't something you would find in an ordinary household. Have no use for keybeds :) If there's a chance i get it to a desktop format like you did i would buy one.
Nice work! I got here by googling to see if they made it in a rack version.
Hey, just found your channel. Great build, thanks for sharing!!
Really really great idea! Thanks for sharing. I wish Korg would do this themselves. I don't need that keyboard on there, and there are many out there who also don't.
you should start selling kits! Love it.
You should make a kit for this!
clearly some specialized equipment you have here. Drop down drills, laser computer controlled cutters etc. Not something anyone could just do in their garage like you kinda suggest. But well done it does look great (except for that silver edge at the bottom I woulda made that black)
what about the minilogue? Beautiful job.
Increadible work. Inspiring slogan. Subbed.
gorgeous work!
Love this, super job, tempted to do the same to mine now 😅
I did my minibrute like that....now that I watched your video I'm doing my monologue. I may even do my korg kontrol49.
Damn impressive. Here I am at Skill Level: Sandpaper. subbed
Nice work bro! Very creative!
I can't even afford one of these yet and you just pop one open all willy nilly haha wow great work
Should make a Model D case for the Beringer Model D module. that seems to be fairly popular but nobody has done an "in the making" of it
I would buy it if they released it like this.
Great Work Man!
Came straight here from the keyboard mod video. This one looks equally great! Subbed here now, too.
What mod video?
really nice work. I want to see what you do for a living.
wow! awesome work!!
Looks very nice!
Nice filming buddy.
Nice job! UA-cam seems to not be showing you on my channel feed as often as it used to. Not sure why.
Oh my dog. Looks heavy bruv. Amazing job you did there.
Where did you find a KORG? Love it! 🙌🏼😊
hi nice project , does the monologue have polyphony now?
macjoe82 No, that's not how it works unfortunately.
@@RetroPlus oh ok thx for answering id like to do the same but keeping the key board and make is look like a moog subsequent , one question tho , do the keyboard card work without the keys ? i d love to replace them with pads minibrute 2S style
Hehe, cool I also have an Aperture tatt (must say, it's initially because of the Laboratory though ;)
Lovely work (and shop).
Fab. Electronically, is it as simple as unplugging a ribbon cable or are there other considerations pls..?
Great video dude
hi, perfect job. are you willing to make one kit for me? I can do the rest on my own. if yes would be possible to do it with skinny end cheeks? thanks
The sequence is awesome, will you release it somewhere?
Could you post a link to your plans/measurements for the parts you cut?
How did you get the wood cutter to know where all the holes would go for in/out midi power etc?
Thank you 😊
super cool man! I was just wondering why you cut the metal part so close to the logo, instead of just cut the 2 sidebars, cheers
To make it as small as possible. 😁
OMG! This is perfect! You are my hero!!!
Hi, that looks amazing.
Wondering if you are planning to sell a few conversion kit? Cuz i would buy it
Awesome tuneage and a masterfully modded module! BTW, I own the Monologue and a set of those Behringer Truth speakers too...now I think I need to find a skull.... ;-P Subscribed!!!
Sweet.
Interesting collaboration with yourself ;)
I notice right at the beginning the synth seems to have a wooden panel at the back. I'm curious about whether you thought about reattaching it and why you decided against? Is it a space/shape consideration?
Good question. I wanted to make a new back just for the challenge and the fun of it.
Nicely done.
At some point in the future I'm going to be upgrading a toy piano with some real hardwood to make it sturdy and, as you've shown here, to make it sexy.
Oh nice!!!
Awesome work, super clever! Makes me want to try the same with my MiniBrute but I've got like 1000 other projects in line first ^_^
Really really cool!
