You know, if a guy disappears a few times on the big stage, he kind of earns the choker moniker. Lebron certainly had his share of disappearances and so on. So if Lebron choked in big moments and got called for it, then I don’t see why Stef legitimately shouldn’t have that moniker either. Just because he has one great game doesn’t mysteriously erase history.
He proved he can also show up as well. I think many are being prisoners of the moment and saying some crazy stuff about his all time status.
He is one of the greatest PG’s no question. Probably is the best pure shooter of all time and he should be easy top ten.

It’s acdebate if he is even in top ten so no chance for goat. Lebron in top five - ten but he not goat either. So how Stef going to pass Lebron and be in goat convo after 1 huge playoff game? He still allowed ref calls to take him out of his game yet again, like in 2016. He should have done what Jokic and team did when the refs tried to help lakers out for 4 games. Just be relentless. Magic could play positions 1-5, in a faster and more physical era, and facilitated one of the best and most efficient offenses the league has ever seen while doubling assist almost every single game he played. Only rivaled by Zeke, who was selfless and also facilitated games on the same level as Magic.
Magic would cook Steph in either the paint or perimeter Medium rare, Steph also needs to prove his worth Against zeke, a far superior Perimeter defender with better handles and higher Basketball IQ, while still remaining a dagger shooter and not far off from Steph in terms of scoring, where only Steph is better at the 3 point line.

Warriors roster is not so good right now compared to last year & more inconsistent compared from the 2015 - 2019 GS dynasty era.....while Lakers right now looks stronger than ever before, compared to the last 3 years of being a disaster team. So I think it will be an equal match-up for Curry & Lebron that will surely carry each of their respective teams.

  • @Trejohnsmith

I'll say this as a person whos watched the Warriors from 2014 til now from the dynasty days, to winning just 15 games in 2020, and losing in heartbreaking fashion in the 2021 play-in, and last year winning the most toughest and important championship in this run. You would think especially after last year people like Skip wouldn't try to push a Steph isnt clutch narrative did he not watch Game 4 of the 2022 Finals? I'll take that performance over that game 7 against the Kings. After last years title as a realistic Warriors fan last year title was good for me 4 titles in 8 years is legendary long as they are in the conversation for one and play hard every season as we go on I'm good. I dont panic the only time i have is Game 6 2016. Like Steph says he doesn't have to prove himself to anyone but he can improve and get better. Skips hate comes from he hate of Bron for that 2016 title which gave Bron fans reason to put him over Jordan and Skip doesn't like that & he helped recruit KD(who wouldn't) that was it for Skip in his love for Steph he had in 2015 & 2016.

Steph is obviously and all time great and playing well but saying that he’s “35 and still getting better” is pretty irrelevant in this era. The advancements in training, nutrition, supplements, gear, and performance enhancing drugs allows these guys to play much longer. Plus there’s more time between games, and the game is less physical. Significantly less physical than it was when Steph first got into the league. He’s amazing to watch and he’d be great in any era, but this year has been the craziest scoring season ever. The game is built for perimeter players to dominate. No physicality, allowed to travel and carry every possession, etc.. still amazing and can’t wait to watch him but we have to take this into consideration when we talk about all time status

Magic won the finals mvp when he was a rookie. It took Steph years to develop into a star. Also magic was still playing at a high level when he was forced to retire so we don’t know where he’d be if he was able to play for longer. He was forced to retire because of his HIV diagnosis. I mean he went to 9 finals in 11 seasons. I can’t ever put him over magic but he’s up there at least. Again, this era is built for Steph to dominate. It’s the easiest era ever to score. I don't think it's the worst narrative. The fact is he did choke a 3-1 lead and almost choked a 1-3 deficit the WCF before that series. His stats don't paint the perfect picture of a choker, but for his level there's been many series since the Warriors blew up that Curry wasn't the same regular season Curry. That's okay. Narratives change. Unlike someone like Dirk who was a huge choker before changing his narrative in a big way, Curry is one of those guys who is kind of hit or miss but he's expected to be other worldly. He may have some choke games in this series vs the Lakers, like he did against the Kings but he'll also have clutch moments. He's an all time great. They're NOT perfect and they're not the GOAT and that's okay.

How is what Bayless saying incorrect? He even gave examples. Steph scoring 50 pts in game 7 is not what Skip is talking about.
You don’t use the same objectivity that you use with the MJ vs Bron debate. You are flawless with that one. Skip is simply talking about when he needs one or two shots in the clutch to win the game. You are just rambling about what he did overall. Overall, yes, he is clutch when you count what he did, but this isn’t what Skip is talking about, so you are now resorting to the same logic what is used to say Bron is the Goat: overall.
