I have it too and had a surgery but only if I do not wear glasses my right eye will look more straight, if I need to put it on to see clear bcs of my left eye, the right one will be concentrating so hard... But better I stay that way and be satisfied than risk to get blind by another surgery

I can make m eye lazy whenever I want. Although if I were to look into like a peep hole and dont close my other eye. That eye will get lazy. it is as if it adjusts to give me a better view.
I've noticed my eye goes to a side when people take pictures of me with the flash on.

I am very nearsighted. I am 55 yeara old and had a retina detachment when I turned 50. I was told that my vision would never get back to where is was unless I have cataract surgery. I didn't get the surgery yet. I slowly started patching my good eye and training my operated eye to take in light and focus on shspes of images through the blurriness. I'm 34 and was diagnosed the amblyopia when I was around 3 or 4. My parents tried patching my eye but I kept pulling it off when they weren't looking, so it was unsuccessful. I ended up losing vision in my dominant eye when I was around 10 and I now have to wear a contact in my 'good' eye. Thank you for this in-depth explanation.

I was diagnosed and treated for amblyopia when the medical field thought it was an eye problem when I was 2yo. I had to wear a patch and also had to wear glasses. Then I don’t know how long I had the patch for, but I do remember not having to wear the patch and glasses anymore! In my teens I had myopia so I had to wear glasses. Then in my mid 30’s I was seeing double, and found out I had astigmatism also, and I was diagnosed with amblyopia AGAIN. So, now in my 40’s... i developed Nystagmus but only when I really try to focus on something, so that’s not all the time thankfully. I hit more walls doors and furniture than anyone and have bruises to prove it... also I can never find what I’m looking for, my boyfriend has to help me all the time. I have periodic strabismus , where my right eye will turn and stay when I’m tired.
I am 21 years old and I am suffering lazy eye in my right eye that causes blur of image and misalignment of the eye. Can I still fix it through patching the dominant eye?

I remembered having a 2020 vision in my physical exams but I developed a lazy eye lately. I think lazy eye is worse than 2 eyes with prescription at least both will be corrected. My doctor did not put any prescription on my left eye cause no matter what grade he puts the vision of my left eye will not improve . So sad.
I have the corneal opacity type, and the 3 possible causes are short sightedness, long sightedness and astigmatism - I have short sightedness and astigmatism, are they both causes of my amblyopia?

My son is turned 4 in July. Last year, when he was 3 year old was detected with Squint(Eye no. Rightt: +.75,-2.0,180, Left: 0,-1.0,180). His Right eye was weak till Oct'19. After that we dilated his Left eye with Atropine Sulphate ointment for a month in Feburary'20. Now when we did diagnosis again, his Right eye has 6/9 vision while his Left eye vision reduced to 6/60. New Eye no.(Right: +3,-3.5,180, Left: +3.5,-3.5,180) Can patching on right will help to regain the vision. Can you suggest what we should do any exercise etc... Please help

Thank you Dr Khitri, my child aged one year and one month has amblyopia, today the ophthalmologic doctor from hospital told us to eye patch him for at least one week before next week's exam prior to strabismus surgery, but we couldn't manage to have him eye patched, is there any suggestion or hint?
Hi, I have amblyopia strabismus in addition to eye patching, which can be hard for children. I used to take mine off! There are eye drops that you can place in the dominant eye that blurt the vision me “act” as patch. It can be good alternative for kids ask your doc about it.
My son has squints and he currently uses glasses. They are asking us to embark on surgery. But like you said their eyes are still developing.. kindly advise Accordingly.. thanks

I believe you have my stapler the good eye is commonly patched so that the other eye is stimulated. But, the good eye should also get a chance to be stimulated too.

My prescription was, if I remember it correctly was polycarbonate lenses for a monoocular patient!!
I'm currently 27 years old now. I just found out that I have refractive amblyopia, It can't be corrected by eyeglasses, is there any cure for adults?
My parents found out about my lazy eye when I was in 1st grade in 1996. I wore glasses and a patch. I didn't peek and I spent an entire school year wearing a patch. All it did was make me blind the whole year. It didn't help me sadly and I still can't see out of my left eye.

My situation was very similar! I received eye muscle surgery with adjustable sutures from Dr. Khitri a few years ago and she did a wonderful job. My left eye is esotropia but the surgery corrected the position and even though it was mainly cosmetic I did notice improvement in my peripheral vision. I can now see objects even if they are blurry on my left side and when I’m driving I can see into the left review mirror. Another eye doctor I went to at Northwestern speculated that the reason the eye patching and glasses didn’t work for me as a child is bc the eye prescription difference between the two eyes could’ve been to significant. I came across this article from 2008 about lens implants that is being explored as a treatment for amblyopia in children and think this could possible have been similar to what happened to me as kid, except obviously as a kid in the 90’s/2000’s this wasn’t an option. It’s kinda interesting that the field is exploring ICL/IOL surgery for adults with amblyopia:

I am 34 and my rigtht eye has a higher number of -9 sph, -4 cyl as compared to my left eye which is -1 spy , -1.25 cyl. Is this Amblyopia? I have been suggested a eye surgery - ICL ( Implantable Contact Lens) in my right eye. Is the ICL surgery also one of the ways of Refractive surgery?

You will know within the first 4 years of life. You can also play a game with the child where one eye is covered and the child may have to identify an object or something in a picture.
Appreciated good piece of information. My 5 years daughter is having +3.5 power in both eyes (she can’t read long distance letters ) . Now we have started with patches. Question is : 1. Is it good if she watches TV with Patches ? 2. How many hours of the day we have to use that patch on eye ?

My eyes get weird when I look to the right. I have extreme double vision and it’s diagonal . My parents said every body does this? But I don’t think it’s extreme as mine. And also my vision and the angle of my eyes are perfectly fine when I look to the left. And when I look in the mirror from the angle one eye is looking up and one is down. I can’t really seem to find anything that describes this specifically...It sucks because I ready have droopy eyes already and they are an ugly shape . Like they are not straight and one of my eyelids are more droopy than the other. I don’t really think you can tell if my eyes are slightly uneven from the front unless you’re really looking but still.🤣 and I also just avoid looking to my right side. But I’m going to the eye doctor in two days mainly for eyesight in general tho, hopefully they can explain my specific condition tho.

Only from birth to 4 or 5 years old can you have amblyopia. It’s unlikely at that young age to have myopia. But an eye injury can cause amblyopia.

You need a new doctor.
When your doctor said "Lazy Eye", he was avoiding doing any work. Because he does not understand "medicine" that well. This is very common in India.
Ask your family if they can take you to a more ... "famous" ... hospital.
Tell them that if this problem is not fixed soon, then it will become worse in the future. You will become blind.
Tell them "you don't want your son to be married one day and have one blind eye, do you?"

I never had a lazy eye. Zero. Untill I got molested. The trauma causes stress and my eye turned to my nose. I had eye muscle pain for 13 months. After 13 months the pain disappeared and mhm eye is permanently lazy. I'm proof that you can turn a normal eye into a lazy eye and vice versa it will be possible top.

Don't do it.. i am born with cataract in my left eye and i had my surgery when i was 2 -5 unfortunately my sight didn't really changed .. i can only see light and some colors but they are soo blurry . They replaced my real lens into an artificial lens .
My right eye is bigger than my left eye.. i haven't went into the doctor for the past years but i will be going on a check up at an eye doctor this august , i look so ugly in person 😌🤣🤣 but i do look good in mirrored images 🤣🤣 .. no one even dared to court me or something like that .. i got bullied when i was a kid ... but life must go on :> i'm turning 13 in 5 or 6 months 💖

I have lazy eye and serious myopia it makes my face look so weird I also suffer from a severely Asymmetric face going to the left and my lazy eye going to the right so I look really weird and unpleasant to look at. My dad described my face as wild I would definitely agree. I’m 41 never had a girlfriend have no friends I thought of suicide soo many times from in my 20s to now. I live at home with my mum who is going mad she believes when I walk by her it makes her feel faint and her heart beats too fast because of it I’ve had to ring the ambulance twice she wants me to leave and I want to leave but am having trouble finding my own place lace because I don’t work full time. My mum is nearly 70 so I don’t want to stay around her and make her worse. I feel my eye really held me back at school pupils picked on me because I wore glasses and took me for a joke. I only had 1 friend in school and he stopped talking to me. I gone through life lonely I couldn’t go places and enjoy it on my own I always wished I had friends. Now I’m losing my hair I have lots and lots of floaters in my eyes that are irritating the hell out of me. I’m shortsighted very serverly In my right eye. AaMy left eye is about 55% vision. I can’t get a decent job only agency work in warehouses and bosses shout at me a lot because I can’t work fast because I always feel tired and my bones always keep poping and clicking and aching. Every aspect of my life is crap I can’t think of one area where things are even ok.
