I can dig your philosophy about not caring what people think! Its your life, live it how you want ya know, anyone has a problem with it they can just keep walking so far as I see it.

As we say in the States, Buy Now or Cry Later. Happy Wife / Happy Life I can relate to that. Like your videos and honest humble commentary!

It's like listening to my own internal monologue haha! I just bought a new Tama Star classic Walnut/Birch kit in the molten burst last week. Had been eyeing it up for ages and had seen it at a great price.... But of course I procrastinated, and when I finally pulled the trigger it literally went up in price by £300 the very same day! Ended up buying it at the more expensive price and I have to say I absolutely love it. Just wish I hadn't dawdled. If you want something go get it, life is short. And then of course I went back and ordered the matching snare.... you have to, the rest of the kit would just get lonely! We're a rare breed of drum huggers, and I love it! Just found your channel, excellent stuff, keep it up :)

Thanks mate, appreciate that. Ive had that experience a few times with things going up. Watched my spec'ed Star kit go up, come down and go up again once, thankfully before I bought it though.

Dave, think of the long run. Will you be able to sustain this habit for the next few years? 10 to 20 years? How much money will you loose? Etc..

That is a great question and I think I'll do a video on it actually. I'll try and sit down and do it very soon.

Dave, I think a question to ask is...and I feel your pain here, co's I'm in a similar situation with having too many and no space. I've spent the last few weeks pondering what to let go. A lot of what I own isn't up there in the quality of the drums you have but it really is becoming an issue. I have nice kits.. a few of late is where I have put together kit from shells, lugs sourced from all over to make up a kit I'd enjoy playing. I have also aquired some bargains of which a few items I've not even used yet. To sum up...it got to a stage that I should just be happy with one maybe two kits I can enjoy, play and get the best out of them. I think drummers are the 'magpies' of the music world. Drums are colourful, shiny...in some ways works of art. But is really a good thing for say...someone to have 40 snare drums sitting on shelves, collecting dust and not being played. If you're reviewing them that's great and great for others to see something that may appeal. Personally, I'm more looking at what drums sound great to my ears and give myself some identity. But...having too many has clouded my vision of what I really want from a drum kit. Snares...yes there are far more different qualities, in sound, material, sizes...possibly the most 'vocal' of any kit. That would be the exception to having 'a few'. So my personal aim is to get sold the less used drums that hardly come out of their cases and create some identity with the drums that will give me the most satisfaction and enjoy! 😀 Can I ask Dave...you have an amazing selection but would like to know the real reason for having so many? I would love a Crystal Beat set but acrylic looks fab and sound...heard so many horror stories regarding fragility...visually fantastic but every day workhorse...not so sure? 🤔 Really like your videos...keep up the good work! 👍

Mate, I totally get you there. And, there is no reason for so many, other than maybe it's just a reflection of me. I never set out to have so much and it really has got to the point where I've thought, why? I am selling bits and pieces here and there and I am already loving the space back too. The shed started to feel crowded, arguably it still is, but on the positive side I see very little right now that makes me want to buy it. It almost feels a bit dead to me in that respect. Actually, I'll say that, right now, I'm full...

I forgot, the Crystal Beats, great drums to me. I think if you have some good harder cases and make sure they're not banged around too much, they should be fine.

Dave, the only thing I have to say is (and your already doing this) follow your heart and do what makes you happy. Many, far too many people, don't have a hobby and only use their money to buy items (like luxury cars, expensive jewelry, and mansions ALL simply to impress others. Are they happy? Only they can answer that, but in many cases they're not. Life is short; like you, I'm going to do what makes me happy. As long as my wife is happy and my hobby isn't causing us financial stress or any one harm... you understand. Hats off to you for living the life you want. A person can't ask for much more than that.

Sometimes you just gotta buy more drums Dave 😅 there are far worse things to spend money on! Variety is the spice of life and all that. Regards from a fellow drum junkie.

Greetings from Southern California. I tend to move gear on rather than keep it around. Ever since I got a Sonor set, and have always played high end Paiste, the others seem to go. I do have a few custom Pork Pie snares, Ludwig, George Way...I think about moving on my RUDES, because I'm not playing that loud anymore and have been getting more moderate rock cymbals from Paiste. I also Have Masters for softer stuff. Would you just keep the RUDES in a bag under the bed, so to speak, for when I need to smash through amps again?

I’m currently regretting not placing a special order from Tama for a drum they told me they WOULD make for me when I asked for a quote in March 2020. I found out a few months ago they won’t make the drum in the finish I want due to the inlay material not being available. Could that change in the future? Possibly. But right now I’m regretting not ordering when I had the chance.

That's annoying. I had that once with the acrylic RCI kit I have. Got the 10/12/14 toms, went back a while later to ask about an 8" and they wanted something really stupid for it, more than the 14" was. Said it was due to this and that, I didn't follow it up.

@@DaveBatemansShed I'm looking for either a 14" or 18" floor tom for a Starclassic Bubinga Elite in Black Metallic with Gold Inlay. The prices quoted are Star prices which is what held me back. I've only seen individual drums in smaller sizes and maybe a 16" floor tom. Never a 14" or 18'. I found a 13x9 in the UK which was purchased from the US on ebay a year earlier. The guy that purchased it didnt even have a kit in the same finish. He just wanted a 13" SC Bubinga rack tom. I believe RCI made the Tama Starclassic acrylic drums that have Made In The USA on the badge. Or at least supied thr shells to Tama who assembled them at Hoshino headquarters in Bensalem PA. Those RCI guys are a 45 minute drive from me. I've wondered if they do factory tours.

@@Assimilator702 I've got a Starclassic Mirage acrylic kit which has Made In Japan (old style) badges. I believe the shells were cut by C&C custom drums in the USA before being assembled by TAMA in Japan. They were only made for about a year I think as they didn't sell particularly well. Great kit though!
