Being a crane operator I always like carrying loads a little heavy on one end. It always makes stacking easier for me. Some people just don't understand how easy it is to get swing in a lift. You always make it look easy and I wish everyone could see just how much talent it takes. Great job as always.
professional men who enjoy their work whom make it look effortless. awesome video and great work. I am retired but remember the days of colvert installation. So much better in good soil conditions like this..oh those days with wet soil. Keep up with the great video's for those of us whom enjoy them.
Dang, I always figured a tin horn would fold in half if lifted like that. I set quite a few 8' x 50' horns at work, but they come with lifting eyes welded on.
Well, I was thinking that too and I was holding my breath ( so to speak) as he lifted that culvert from a cable around the middle. Almost any culvert over 15 feet in length is suspended the way you mentioned, Daniel, at least where I worked.
damn good job considering your down crew and no tag line down some sketchy ass tree lined dirt road. how much on top of a pipe that big to carry the load?
Pulling into the office one day, the building next door had a 10'x20' in their decorative easement just off the street. The other 2 in the construction lot across the street remained where they were put. I still laugh thinking of the image of that rolling across the street as you're going down the street.
How do you like that Yanmar mini? I’m looking into buying aprx 100 acres of property & I think if I could buy one piece of equipment the mini excavator is a great idea. I’m a recently retired UPS guy but I dabble in scrapping cars, metal etc, cleared a few lots in my day with just a saw n 4 wheeler having to hire out the stump work etc. & I’ve Cut fire wood all in my spare time ;) At my age it’s time for some equipment assistance. I have a 93 f550 dump truck & a 24’x8.5’ 7 ton BWise tilting deckover trailer. Anyhow I think my setup could handle a 9-12K pound machine & think a mini excavator would be most useful. What’s your opinion on brand name & hours on machine etc as I’m looking for a quality machine at an affordable $15-25K price. I know to look for welds sloppy pins etc anything you can offer a newbie when it comes to buying a first piece of equipment?
You should see the culvert being installed in Washington state now. New regulations about allowing salmon migration has meant that a LOT of road have to get new, larger culverts installed so the fish can swim upstream and reproduce.
Brian Garrow know what your saying . live in SW WA . taking out 30 in pipe and replacing them with 12 foot pipe back filled inside 40 to 50 percent with dirty rock !!!
So Chris. When the land is wet from constant rain is it possible to still clear the land from trees and brush in order to began to install septic and well before putting a structure? I bought a small parcel in Alaska and the weather has had off and on rain Thank
Chris, you did a good job of transporting this culvert, but you weren't concerned that it might have collapsed from being slung at the mid point? I am not being a 'smart-ass' by asking this, I am only asking, as on jobs where I used to be , any culvert longer than 15 feet is slung from near both ends.
ive yanked out many old rusted ones and you can grab them in the center and they still dont bend. they are alot stronger than you think. I could probably slam the bucket down flat on this thing and it would only bend a few inches
I guess then Chris, that the Foremen on these jobs were being very cautious, and using the " cover yer ass" rule in construction. Good videos for sure, then again, all your videos keep me more or less, glued to the screen. Thanks.
I know this was a long time ago, but who is that guy walking along acting like he's in charge? Perhaps the home owner, or "road" owner? Did he not hear and see you banging on that dirt? Then he goes and thinks he's gonna do any better with that little toy he's on? LMAO... He should have just taken his little toy home and let the man with the big stick finish that job correctly. LOL... Chris: I saw a different video where you mention a client who is quirky; can't remember the actual word you used. You said you did jobs for him and he was a nice guy but wasn't sure about doing a video of his jobs. You said something along the lines of, "If I jump off the machine to take a piss he asks me if everything is alright". Something tells me this may be that guy, and it was this job that made you decide to not take any more videos of his jobs. LOL...
@@danolson6335 : Well dang then... I guess he really is in charge, and I would have just sat there quietly like Chris did as well. Thanks for the info. That all makes sense now.
That's one big pipe! You make it look like your sitting in your recliner just relaxing. Thanks for the time you put into these videos! 👍🏻👍🏻

Best huge culvert video I seen all day! Ultra thanks!
Hope to see complete install of culvert. You make operation of the machine look so easy. Thanks for sharing I enjoy the videos very much.

As a Business Owner, I like to see employees in a company shirt. Good job
Great video!!! What excvator is that?
Great video of your superb control of an excavator . Well done

seems over 40' would be sketchy and may collapse on a jerky ride, larger pipe diameters would weight more and be less stable yet :)
Nice job. Looks easy from the cameras point of view but there's a lot of years of experience driving the machine
Nice to see your uncle the boss man on the job working
How can you be sure that you aren't pushing the culvert upwards when you tamp the first third or so?
damn good job considering your down crew and no tag line down some sketchy ass tree lined dirt road. how much on top of a pipe that big to carry the load?
Nice!!! Can we see finished pipe.....?
Nice to see the Bossman in a video again, Don't see much of him since he got the Truck to play with.

Usually when we have put them in that dry they wash out with a big rain, we have been using water to make a mud seal at least on one end.
Let's see that engineer from Vegas do that

That would be one hell of a photo that you took of the pipe from you seat .
Great vidja 👍 👍👍👍
When you get a chance explain your preference on how you have your joy stick controls set up and can you switch them on a Volvo thanks
He runs cat controls you can switch the pattern on any machine some foot with a valve others electronic others you have to swap hoses
Are you going to put flared end sections on it?
no
That culvert would cut a person right in half if ya got caught between the lip and something solid. Nice job moving that, that was quite a transit.

when you get to the age to start thinking about buying a harley, or mountain climbing seems like a good idea that pipe is gonna need to be replaced ;)
job security
those little Yanmar machines are tough as shit. fast too. nice vid
How much fill is going in?
about 3'

might of been camera angle or i am just ignorant on laying pipe but i was thinking it should be deeper.
me too ----deeper!!
Greg Brown when ever your trying to some real good pipe deeper is always better. Luckily for the wife the neighbor and mail man also agree.
Greg Brown I raised the road up. Can't bury it 3' in the Creek so that it's level or it will just fill with sand
you want at least 1' of dirt over the pipe. the deeper you put it the more weight is on it and more likely to collapse.
Who bids y'all's job??
Steady now steady
So we can access with bigger vehicles
This is just great!
We follow the old logging roads and all throughout the road the dig little culverts
Awesome!!
Poor culvert! All the mean machines attacking at it at once burying it under ground!
What is going on with the FarmLifeNC channel? I miss seeing what is going on!
I never committed on your videos before. but I think you told your uncle get the "bleep" out of the way, not in so many words that is. Take care.
I was expecting to hear some 007 music a couple of times.
Looks like needs more dirt over it.
For a minute it sounds like you are riding a horse. LOL What is that 36"?
Haha, you can see down it to look in front of you.
Why not just hang another chain? what are you doing flicking dirt around? Chesus are you pissed?
I think he needs to get back in the truck. Lol!!
