I’ve been in sales for 10 years now, thinking about getting into tech sales. But, what you say is true in most sales positions. Usually 20% thrive and 80% are just getting by. Great video,, new subscriber!
Can you please talk about how to have conversations with managers, including coaching? How open can you be about what you need? Also, given the tough year, how do you manage up to show your value, when sales are low?
Social media posts the big money they make the great life they are living but they hardly say what they have to suffer to make that money yuor emotionally mentally physically healthy it’s more important than big money
Every job has a downside. You can’t have the good without the bad. Whether you work at Burger King Or being tech sales I’ll rather work as tech sales making more money with a higher ceiling. Just have to put in the work. I’ve worked in tech for 5 yrs and yes it’s tuff but you have to be innovative.
Much needed ! Top class inputs ⭐ Matt i will go 1 step ahead & ask they most irritating but equally important question - How to make boring tasks or hard work into pleasurable activity or dopamine seeking task which we get from playing games to never stop working due to feeling low or demotivated ? What's the Ultimate routine to start if single minded focus has to be achieved to excel in job or career ?? By balancing the family life as well ..
There isn't much you can do to make boring tasks into pleasurable tasks...just knowing that those tasks are part of the job and are needed to be successful will help
It’s not all sunshine and rainbows…most of the time it’s doom and gloom…sales is not in a great spot but hopefully it will rebound within next 18 months

Cybersecurity and software sales are 2 different beasts. I've found Cybersecurity sales to be easier to open and close.
I work in both. I sell cybersecurity software.

When you say “conversations with manager”, can you provide a bit more detail with what you mean?
Social media posts the big money they make the great life they are living but they hardly say what they have to suffer to make that money yuor emotionally mentally physically healthy it’s more important than big money
Social media is the highlight reel…it’s not the real reel
Thank you for the honesty Matt.
No problem Robert!
True my friend. I am in tech sales in a big global IT company. This is exactly what is happening.
yeah, it's not good across tech right now.
Love this video; really helpful thanks Matt😊

Thanks for being realistic. Sick of the glorification. People gotta go by the rule if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
Absolutely, thanks for watching!
Amazing Video Matt. Do you think getting into sales just for money is a bad idea?
JUST for the money, yes. But the MAIN reason I am in sales is for the money…and that’s the case for 99.99% of salespeople
My target right now is 60k a year. As long as that's realistic in tech sales I can stick with it.
That’s realistic for an entry level SDR role in tech.
Thanks for the motivation@@MattMacnamara
Its never the job it's always management
agreed.

So basically in house tech sales are suckers.
Not sure what you mean by in house tech sales?
