OMG, I can't get enough of your channel, love how down to earth you both are and how honest. I'm a Colt collector and absolutely love your Peacemaker shirt, I have a Peacemaker in my collection with mother of pearl grips, all my hand guns have mother of pearl grips though, I adore the look. Silly to ask but do you remember where you got your shirt? I must find that shirt! I have a peacemaker belt buckle I always wear. if you don't remember it's ok, I am now on the search for it. Hi Rob and Karen! Great video! Karen you should take a course in stained glass works. You could make money during the winter fixing stain glass. You could pick more of the pieces up at garage sales, fix and flip them. Cheers!

The dressers are so charming and farm house looking... Did Karen fill the extra holes in the drawer fronts. And the stain glass is so elegant and the fluer de lis perfect for your neck of the woods. And one more thing.... Never. Never call your better half a strong buzzard......I'll sic my Chihuahua on ya!

This is how I clean silver, with SCIENCE! The usual tarnish on silver is black sulfide. This method is non-toxic, good for the environment, & cheaper too!! Easily clean silver with aluminum foil, baking soda and hot water. This method uses electrolytic action instead of chemical-polish abrasion and removes the tarnish from oxidized silver without removing any of the underlying metal. You can even let the tarnished silver soak in the solution.
1. Line a non-metal container (large enough to hold your silver items) in aluminum foil, making sure that the shiny side is facing towards you.
2. Place the tarnished silver items into the foil-lined container.
3. Pour very hot water into the bowl to cover the silver items.
4. Add two heaping tablespoons of baking soda to the water until it begins to bubble.
5. Allow the silver items to soak in the baking soda mixture for about 30 minutes.
6. Remove the silver pieces from the water.
7. Rinse well, making sure that all the baking soda is removed from the crevices of the silver items.
8. Dry well before storing.
The aluminum foil is now tarnished and ready to be re-used or recycled. You can pour the baking soda solution down the drain. No fuss. No muss. And no harmful chemicals were used.
Just remember, do not wear rubber gloves when working with your silver since rubber is corrosive to silver. You can use non latex gloves.

Put baking soda in a bowl lined with aluminium, put the silver in and add boiling water. Rinse with water and dry. Cleans silver instantly and does not damage the silver plate. Really quick! Great for silverware

To clean silver go into a jewellers shop and buy a cloth for cleaning silver also you can buy one fo cleaning gold

Love that stained glass very nice :). I hope my hubby has never called me, "an old Buzzard" behind my back lol. Well the auction we have our stuff in is still going on. The 1800's bow top is only at $12.50 with 2 more days to go. I put a max bid of $10 to start it off lol. But I can't buy it back, bummer. My bids on other peoples' items total over $60 and that's just about what our stuff must be at, man people better get bidding so we can make some profit lol. I've been busy wheeling and dealing on FB and Kijijii so made some $ on those sites and bought more stuff for resale (vintage and collectible items). Take care

I love the dressers I LOVE the stained glass, I have a shorter one on my window. WOW!! I wish I would find a garage sale like that ( we do) because our town is about 125 years old. And there are a lot of Victorian houses and older homes and buildings (some built before the town was incorporated) and they have a lot of stuff being sold and they are always antiques, that’s why i like those garage sales the most.

I have always cleaned my silver by putting tinfoil in the sink and then putting borax and boiling water - soak the silver in the solution and then buff and dry off.

In the US she couldn’t get $20 a piece for that furniture. Sad, but true. Grandmother’s furniture is so hard to get rid of here. Stained glass pieces bring good money though. Canadians are such kind and good hearted people. So glad you were able to sell those oak pieces. Karen is such a good antiques broker! Yeah!
Still sells well here in our city - doesn't go for a whole lot - but as long as Karen can get these things for $40 or $50 each.. she can usually flip them for double. :)
Rickey, you are so right about the prices of the dresser and wash stand. I work in an antiques/thrift store in Virginia, and we can't hardly give them away any more. We have a couple of dressers with the mirrors in beautiful original condition for less than a hundred dollars and they have been sitting here for months. Have four or five washstands, two with the towel bar, in beautiful condition, and they have been here for months also. Have one washstand in old finish, just needs some Liquid Gold or wax for $35.00 and nobody has even looked at it. The furniture market here in the states is in terrible shape. At auction furniture goes for less than 20 percent of what it brought even two years ago. You're lucky if round oak claw foot dining tables which used to bring four or five hundred dollars bring a hundred dollars. Same with round front china closets. The last two I saw at auction brought $140.00 and $160.00. It's heart breaking.
zrp8y23 my Goodwill had a very, very large antique spinning/flax wheel. They started at $250, waited 6 months and then sold it for $29.99. They price most antique furniture at $14.99 - $24.99. The St. Vincent de Paul sells most furniture for $10-$40. They often have 50% off furniture and pictures. Pictures bring $3-$8. No one wants the old stuff anymore! I am in a historic KY town also. Doesn’t matter. Yard sales just drag the stuff back inside or donate it. Rockers bring $5.
@@rickeydonald4756 Yes, chairs and rockers are dead stock. We can sell sets of four, six or eight chairs but only if they are very reasonably priced. Victorian furniture is dead. Marble top tables and dressers sit forever. What is selling is used furniture which is useful like dressers and chests of drawers and kitchen dinette sets - practical useful things. Good glassware, china and crystal are are almost impossible to sell for any price. The problem with the antiques market is that millennials don't want anything. Their parents and grandparents were the collectors who made the antiques market. They are dying off leaving their collections to the millennials who are dumping it at auctions or thrift stores and there are few buyers.
That stained glass piece would prob run a couple hundred to repair. The old glass might have some worth though.
faux painted is actually harder to find in good condition,, I have a highboy 1910?
Tarnish needs to come off and make sure not to use eggs in silver or plate. Once clean then put away properly won't tarnish. My grandmother taught me how to take care of silver& plate plus old cooper. She made me every summer learned to her 3 Crystal huge chandeliers and all the Silver. Actually leaving it to tarnish makes it wear Silver plate off faster.

We keep most of them! :D ...as we're collectors.. but when Karen *DOES* sell something, she uses a local buy/sell app like LetGo or OfferUp - it;s called Varage Sale but I think you have to be local to even get access to it. We are looking at setting up an Etsy shop so we can offer some of our finds to our viewers. :)

I bought a dresser like this decades ago, decided to refinish it (before I knew better) and the dresser was made of compressed paper! Darn thing disintegrated except the mirror frame!
Yes!! Well it IS real wood, but just considered a lesser wood than oak... now-a-days the furniture they make really ISN'T wood!! hahaha! It's all sawdust! LOL
I meant real wood as in mahogany, quality oak, cherry etc., not cheap painted wood to look like the real deal!

Hi kids, I have a little commode just like the one you just found, faux finish, so not too much refinishing can be done, but it still has the towel rack, which is nice! Wowser on the stained glass, you can still hang it, even with imperfections, will look beautiful!!! Great job as usual! All my best to the old buzzard, & Curby.
