  • Forty years ago, a nine-minute film captured the imagination of both car enthusiasts and romantics. C'était un Rendez-vous featured an unseen car (said by some to be a Ferrari 275GTB) racing through the streets of Paris, the protagonist speeding to an amorous meeting above the city skyline.
Now Ford has reimagined the journey, introducing 360-degree virtual reality - and a Ford Mustang V8 Fastback Coupe.
“I had goose bumps watching ‘C’etait un Rendez-vous’ 40 years later in virtual reality,” said Claude Lelouch, the original filmmaker. “At the time, my movie was about the feeling of freedom and the pleasure driving generates. I knew that Ford would do more than just a tribute to the original in this new version.”
Sadly, perfectly recreating the main aspects of the route was a challenge as some roads have since disappeared. However, for what remains, viewers can control camera angles and the virtual environment as the Mustang powers through Paris.
“Mustang is a symbol of the freedom and thrill of driving. Recreating Lelouch’s cult short film ‘C’etait un Rendez-vous’ was the perfect way to capture this spirit for a new audience,” said Anthony Ireson, Ford’s European marketing communications director.

Unless your car is pathetic or you dubbed the sound on like the original, there's no way you're not breaking the law. My car, when I'm thrashing it about will easy do 60mph in second. You're redlining in 4rth, Meaning you've dubbed on the noise or you're breaking the law and speeding.

The film is a homage to the original C'était un Rendez-Vous film from 1976, a film that *FAMOUSLY* has the soundtrack dubbed over the original film.
Also, right at the beginning of this clip, it states clearly "No laws or speed limits were broken in the making of this film. The production was filmed with the full approval and cooperation of French local authorities. Controlled conditions. Professional driver. Do not emulate."
So, yes, of course the audio is dubbed. That much should be quite obvious. And no, there are no laws being broken 👍
