When you’re on a long journey it can be easy to get caught up in every single challenge. In fact any lofty goal requires that we focus all of our attention on each problem as it arises. But now that we’ve completed our atlantic crossing and we have calm winds predicted for our to sail to Gibraltar, the gateway to the mediterranean, we have a chance to take a breath and look back on our journey to remind ourselves just how far we’ve come.

Want you to know how much I appreciate your content! No bikinis, no foul language, LOTS of knowledge shared, demonstrated love and affection for each other and, of course Atticus! What a boat!
Fabulous. SPAIN TO THE NORTH, MORROCO TO THE SOUTH AND THE ROCK....OH, MY GOD! So few people in the world ever get to see that sight and you did it for all of us. OMG....and thank you.
1st time we sailed into Gib was 1986. No radar, no Sat Nav. Just a School Teacher I had met in Florida the year before and a blue ChowChow. The last time I sailed out of the Straights was 2009. 50' Catamaran with every ounce of modern electronics available.
During the 25 years we lived in the South of Spain, we probably sailed in & out of Gib more than 50 times. Regardless of the boat or the equipment, it is always a white knuckles sail through one of the busiest shipping channels on Earth.
You guys did well. If you run into David or Dudley Evans, tell 'em the dog says hi.
Des I love the way you acknowledge that you really don't know what it will be like to be a Mom. Your candor will allow you to grow and mature as a parent along with your lovely daughter. Last video when you said "I can't wait to meet her" I knew following you thru the birth of your little one was going to be "must see UA-cam content". You two are going to be so blessed and the little one could not have asked for a better Mother & Father. Oh ya I almost forgot her little sibling Oso! 😍
🤗
i WAS A LITTLE UNDER THE WEATHER, BUT WATCHING YOU BRIGHTENED MY DAY, THANKS.
Vacuum bags ( like Delos) put everything you can into Vacuum bags. Keep your clothes dry and fresh. Takes less space too.
Tangiers is worth a visit and down the coast is wonderful, Morrocans very hospitable, Tunisa has some of the best beaches of the world...stay safe
See my travels, I am 76 with my wife...David & Virginia's Adventures
We met you about a year ago in Back River, Annapolis while on our way South on a Kadey Krogen. You have gone a long way since then!
Jordan, Desiree, and Captain Oso,
I just started watching S07 Episode 18, but I have to say: Desiree, those sandwiches made me drool so much...Smile... OK, back to the video.
Cheers!
Blue Skies, Fair Winds, and Following Seas.
Faithfully,
James
This episode reminds me of the silly old yarn about how England had sold The Rock of Gibraltar to France - and then the French voted to rename the famous landmark after one of their own 'heroes'... but nobody really wanted to have to call it "de Gaulle Stone" - for good reason, I reckon. "This, too, shall pass." Your mileage may vary.
Wonderful video! Congratulations on reaching another milestone. It’s been such a pleasure to see the transformation, in not only your sailing platform, but in you both as sailors. I’ve watched since Atticus I and you just keep getting better and better. Thank you for sharing your adventures and accomplishments.
Amen, you two are such a pleasure to ride along with, as it were.
You should have stopped in Gibraltar!🇬🇮 I’ll be your personal tour guide! Hahaha
Don’t be intimidated by our straights , they can be rough but can be done once you navigate into the bay it’s calm bliss. ✅ thanks for showing the world a glimpse of our Little Rock ♥️
Amazing… praying for you and safe travels. And that new baby coming soon. ❤️
Hey Jordan & buddy,
Y'all should contact S.V. UMA .
BECAUSE they are at a port in
Gibraltar. At the present time.
They about to leave that area.
what a sight for you two. Morrocco and Spain in the turn of the head left and right. vicariously we see what we may never see from the ocean or at all. many thanks for the images of our beautiful planet.
Oso is in for a very big surprise very soon!! Stay Safe & Fair Winds!!
I take my hat off to the two of you, soon to be three. You are exploring the world in the best possible way!!😉 Will you be be sailing down to Cape Town South Africa? If so you have to visit the mother city for a few days and then sail to where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet at Cape Agulhas east of Cape Town ⛵
Thanks again Jordon and Desiree for sharing another part of you journey. I can see the salt building up on you both for every nautical mile you travel. Soon you will be old salts and the experiences will be so much more stress free and gratifying. You guys rock! Once again.
Capt K 😎💚
That was exilerating to watch! Really looking forward to your Mediterranean adventure. I've been to the rock of Gibraltar and the med coastline and I loved it. Can't wait to see what you think. Des is looking great! Pregnancy really agrees with you, you're glowing 🤗💞
You guys just make better and better videos all the time!
So what’s in the package?
What a great exciting moment entering new places! Have a rest by the "ROCK".
thanks for allowing me to follow along on your adventure.
Great job as always.
Beautiful sailing, amazing scenery and sunshine. Thanks for sharing another great video 🥰⛵️⛵️⛵️
Thank you so much for showing me the Rock of Gibraltar. I will leave you with a quote I love… “Men of integrity are like the Rock of Gibraltar-steadfast and immovable. Men without it are like the shifting sands on the Sahara Desert-tossed to and fro by every variant wind of life." Author Unknown.
❤You guys have really come a long way.
Awesome video ! Congrats on making it to Gibraltar.
Gibraltar is also referred to as "The Pillars of Hercules". Classical history begins there and you are sailing east into its heart. In your travels, I hope you explore the Greek islands. Get out and walk around. Fantastic video.
It is so good to see how far you have come. I have actually transited the straights 3 times in the mid 70's on a Fast Attack Submarine and stood sonar watch using passive sonar just listening keeping track of over 50 contacts at a time. We never even came shallow to raise the periscope and take a look so your video is really the first time I have seen the transit.
Absolutely stunning! My Saturday is complete.
Your channel has some the best video and audio ever. You certainly have grown as sailors and videographers over the years. Keep enjoying what you do!
Being a "History" guy, I'm so jazzed your in the straight of Gibraltar!
Definitely getting exciting.
Fun, fun fun!!!!
Hi Jordan congratulations to reach over the ocean crossing
Oh man. You guys are killing me. LOL! Great adventure after great adventure. Beautiful work.
so happy to see you all taking care of your little black dog, sending you all love from Trinidad 💙💙💙
Perfect Timing! Thank You Team Atticus! Best wishes always!!! 👍🏽💜
Wonderful video! Somewhat of a milestone passing thru the straits! Hard to imagine you've left the Atlantic already. New adventures (and crew member) awaits!
you two are living the dream. Doing an amazing job. Thank you for the vids. I have been thru them straits many times. Can't wait to get back one day. Until then. You all be careful. Fair winds and following seas. :)
Incidentally, kudos on having a mechanical ship's clock. Winding your Chelsea Shipstrike weekly evokes a time-honored maritime ritual.
Ah! How awesome to enter the Med! Are you guys planning to meet up with Uma crew while you're both in the Med? Gibraltar looked amazing from their channel and im sure you guys had fun as well!
Also I am pregnant too, so watching your sailing journey and seeing content on the excitement of waiting for baby is so heart warming for me!
One of your most exciting episodes. Heart got to beating like I was coming past The Rock again. Excellent photography!
Awesome job guys :) Impressive sights and sailing. Oso looks super happy.
☺
Your Pacific Seacraft 40 is about one of the most gorgeous and fantastic cutters (or any monohulls) out there. It's real sailing.
So incredible that you made it to the Mediterranean!
Welcome to Spain! You are almost to your destination and I’m over the moon excited for y’all!! ♥️
Starbucks and Project Atticus - my Saturday morning ritual!
It's been a while since I checked in and watched one of your videos. Congrats guys on your little one on the way! That area looks beautiful; stay safe.
Great! You may see Sailing Uma there in Gibraltar!
Guys you are the best. It's so nice watching your confidence grow. I never doubted for one moment that you would not be successful and get to love the sea life.
What a great, exciting, and satisfying journey to The Rock! Loved it. I would scream too if I'd sailed into that destination the way you did! :) Fantastic!~
Hope Oso doesn’t get overly ignored once “ the baby” arrives.
Son maravillosos chicos, gracias por estas imágenes! Los sigo desde hace tres años desde Argentina
You guys have come so far and done so well!! Well done!
Thank You for sharing, we enjoyed your video very much! Safe travels.
Desiree, as one reminisces of what you both went through to get where you are is the beauty of just that. Your past experiences and knowledge gained just makes it that much better for your future. You two have been through a lot and are enjoying the fruits of your labor. Your future is bright and with the new baby on the way it will had to your challenges but one of which brightens your life. Cheers my friends 🥂
🤗 thanks Hector!
Welcome to the Med! Another awesome video as always. Not sure where you guys are up to but we're floating about with our tiny human and fur baby too - will keep an eye open for you on AIS!! xx
Hi as always Desiree and Jordan, wow what a sight the Rock of Gibraltar is. I've never seen it up that close and didn't know it had vegetation on it, always thought it was just p l a i n rock but then again it makes sense that it would have vegetation. I've seen all of your episodes but never that many with ships around you and with slightly rough Waters. Desiree, you're black hair looks so shining and pretty, especially with it down. Well be careful and enjoy and keep your eyes out for any of those UFO s, adios.
Your best video ever. Well done and thank you very much.
I have watched every episode since Day 1 and you guys just keep out doing yourselves. Thanks so much for so much wonderful and meaningful videos!
Thank you guys look forward to these every week! Be Safe !!!❤
Thank you for sharing
Thank you. This episode made me cry. I had a Portuguese Water Dog named Gibraltar. I have always wanted to go see this place. I watch some yachting channels that have been but they have not shown the images you have shown. So thank you.
Thanks again for an amazing sail!
God bless you guys
Love your videos. Thank you for sharing✌️💜
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Love your videos… so neat to see other parts of the world and see your amazing adventures…. So happy for you guys!
Thank you
The big takeaway for me here is that “project boats” are (for most of us, anyway) fool’s gold. You two bought a FANTASTIC boat in Atticus II and it still required a good bit of re-fitting to be ready for what you’re doing now. I’m getting ready to go boat shopping myself now and as strong as the temptation is to buy something inexpensive and “fix it up”… the smart play is to buy the boat that someone else spent THEIR $$$ fixing up, upgrade what needs upgrading and go from there.
Continued safe travels, y’all!!
Great footage of your passage to and arrival in Gibraltar. What a pain having a leak in the forecabin, when you have the time rebed all the fittings, and perhaps the toerail, in butyl tape. Oso seems to be enjoying his travels more and more.
Another top shelf video!! I have only flown over the Straights and even tracked submarines through it. The boat level view was awesome!! Another great one!!!
DITTO, Lance Pearson🎉. Loved the cruise from Portugal to your anchorage off Gibraltar in Spain. Very easy going.......yet exciting. ✨🌊💨⛵️🏝👙🌞✨
Don't forget minorca...fabulous island. Maybe you meet up with chasing currents crew capt Brynn and wife Jade, a very popular sailing couple traversing the same area toward Sardinia
Great thank you for the Episode
Okay this thumbnail is STUNNING in every way 😍
Awesome! Lovely area, La Línea is just a normal town, but Gibraltar has some cool tourist spots. Hope you get to visit the best of the South of Spain, , not only on the coast area (Malaga, Marbella, etc.), but places like Granada, Seville and even Ronda. All the Mediterranean coast is fabulous, enjoy your journey there!
Glad you 2 are doing good
You're beautiful boat appears to have been a wonderful decision. It took some work to punch it up and look at you now crossing oceans. Wishing you many years of Joyful living and travel.
Thank you for sharing. From Lodi, California.
Intense! And so remarkably beautiful! Another fantastic video. 😎💕😎💕😎
You can develop a leak in the forward hatch through the LENS and experience the kind've leak you are seeing. Temporary fix: take some electrical tape and use it to seal the edge of the acrylic LENS.
Great episode, also some inspiration for me during my projects, I need to know my sailing plans will be here and these projects will be in the past!
Thanks
WOW! I grew up in 3 Spansh so I'm happy for you! 🤙📿Mexico, Bolivia, and Peru were all exciting! And different!
Hi project Aticus, Just dropping a quick note to say thank you. Thank you for what. I have watched your episodes from the start and I have purchased my first ocean going Yacht. You have had a part in inspiring me to get on with this dream. I have just returned to NZ from Fiji for the summer and next year Tonga is the destination. So again Thank you and keep up the great content you post
What a wonderful trip! What views. Really liked the. Oh welcome you got from the pod of dolphins!
Thks for great video
Awesome.
WOW!!!!!!!!! WISH I WAS THERE WITH Y'ALL!!!!!!! THE ROCK IS ROCKING IT!!!!!!!!
Great video!!
Sweet Video in so many ways.
Молодцы, приятно на вас смотреть
Oso is so cute on dolphin watch. Congratulations on getting into the Med.
2.9K+ phantom shipmate LIKE, already 17K+ views. The drone footage, the favorite, never gets old - glad you're including more of that in these adventurous episodes.
Hi there! How awesome that u are able to reap off the benefits of such hard work on your boat! Congratulations! 👍🏻🙌🏻 I totally hear u since bf and I also did an extensive refit to our boat in Fort Lauderdale until we finally sailed off to cross the Atlantic! We are in Alvor, Portugal now and are planning to also leave from Portimão probably headed to Gibraltar … so a few questions for ya: When did u do your Portimão-La Línea passage? How long did it take u? It looks like u did it in the summer so doing it in the winter will be a different story for us but hey…
One more thing, a hint for storing your clothes: heavy duty vacuum bags! (I put silica packs inside too).
Great video! Thanks for sharing your adventure. Happy sailing! And happy holidays too!
View at 15:16 = WOW! Did you ever get nervous being on a relatively small boat surrounded by all that water? Even when on a cruise ship, I realize how vast the ocean is
O Malta my home country haven’t been back for a long time I live I. Australia now that’s my home but it will be nice to see we’re I grew up as a child
Really enjoying your guys' videos!! We had a similar issue with water intrusion and it was due to water coming through hause-pipe (spelling?) and into chain locker. Due to the drainage pipe, at bottom of chainlocker, being clogged by sand/mud brought up by chain it was clogged and filled this area. It then proceeded to spill over into the veebirth and aft. We were on a PSC31 so don't know if chain locker drainage is similar but just a thought. KUTGW!!!
As a drone photography guy over on my H4 Services channel, I really appreciate the great aerial photography in this episode! How difficult is it to recover the drone from a moving sailboat?
Sailing UMA is just leaving Gibraltar. You might try getting some vacuum bags for your clothes.
Ive gone back to the beginning and watching the videos again, now in Guatemala when you were on the Rio, love how far you've come and the different dynamic you guys bring now, but I do miss the simple way you lived on Atticus 1, its nice to see the change but it was fun seeing how little you needed to be happy, not saying that Atticus II isnt a nice boat but I do miss the old girl and Lil Shit lol
I'm so happy for you both and I've seen it happen many times where a couple will adopt an animal or a child and all their fertility issues go away and they end up getting pregnant not that you guys had fertility issues so the first episode we got to see osso I thought to myself how you all would make great parents and that you were great parents for a little Osso! I'm actually pretty good and knowing when people are pregnant and animals I've been a midwife for a long time it's an absolute Joy for me to experience pregnancy for someone who can't have children I adopt animals into my life everywhere I go and all children were my nieces and nephews so I turned out to be the world's greatest auntie🤣🙃😂🤔🥸
Sending you loving Good vibrations to you and the belly and don't forget to put headphones on your belly so the baby can listen to classical music and papa needs to read stories to the baby too thank you good even read the paper if that's what you're reading it starts the bonding early.
