Lots of idiocy going on in this video. 37:19 "Just as if he had to get up and tell a bunch of people about the people who have just died under his command." WTF?? He's not exactly commanding a unit on the front lines ffs and never has. Tons of assumption and embellishing on this show to make it more entertaining. Also there is no brilliant interrogation here this guy was just smart enough to know he was caught, that lawyering up wouldn't save him and that cooperating would save his wife a lot of hassle. This detective quite simply just won the suspect lottery is what happened. The personality and intelligence of the suspect has as much to do or more with the outcome of an interrogation as the skill of the detective does. I don't think that this detective fooled or cajoled or outsmarted Russell Williams into confessing. Williams knew the jig was up and made a conscious choice to go the easiest route for the sake of his wife.
Come on, give the guy a break on that one. He was just making a point that the other detectives were watching as it was happening. He said 'Live feed' and then changed it to 'Camera'. The more I watch it, the more his regional accent is what makes me smile. But...I'm from near the same area of the U.S. that he is, so don't judge, lol. The fact that the police interrogator to this day has not built upon or monetised this interview for his own personal gain speaks volumes his integrity and professionalism
wtf your suggestion is so degenerate and vile that not doing it is not a sign of integrity but that of not being a dirty conscience-less thug. It shows your standard for integrity and professionalism is at abysmal low level. Of course no decent cop should do that.
Cassandra Smith I disagree because the man broke into 15 houses and stole 500 pairs of panties and got away with it some houses he hit twice. Cops are a day late and a dollars short the damage is done 2 woman killed. They should have takin the small crimes slot more seriously a man stealing just underwear and nothing else shows this is a man living a regular life with a job and possibly wife and kids and makes him very dangerous
@@Mineo644 I wouldn't like to call a sexual predator and killer, a smart man..but he did evade being caught for a time. Unfortunately, some innocent women's lifes were taken by a ruthless man; a man who was in the military. Glad he was caught before he could do more damage.
Whenthey said it was in Ontario I knew this guy was screwed. There's another interrogation video on youtube I watched a few nights ago w this precinct and they noted the Ontario behavior therapist's abilities.

The interrogator was really looking forward to this interview, you can tell. Everything about it is arousing him, such as all the nitty-gritty details of the rapes (sexual acts), plus the hand touching with the serial killer.

I don't know if Shakespeare himself could come up with this gem. Through this language, he lets Russ know he is trying to go to bat for Russ, but the sh"t pile just keeps getting deeper and deeper - and he needs the truth since "things are getting out of control quickly." This is masterful...
No, he never had any intention of "going to bat" for him. He wanted Russel to THINK he was trying to go to bat for him, so Russel felt luke he was talking to someone with his best interest in mind. In reality, the detective knew since the moment Russel walked in, that his goal was to paint him into a corner that he couldn't talk his way out of.

That's totally false, but also true. He certainly doesn't feel bad he did it, but clearly he has some desire to spare his wife as much trauma as possible. This is a total generalization and a failure to do your due diligence on the psychology of a sociopath (not a psychopath). They can often compartmentalize parts of their life. For example, BTK was a church leader and a Boy Scout Troup leader. A pillar of his community, and he definitely loves his family. Sometimes it's more what they represent than the people themselves, but they definitely do have some capacity for compassion.

I saw an interrogation on the JCS channel. The interrogator did not stop talking even though the person gave very little information but he was very good also.
And the cop that spotted the tread pattern too in my opinion. You’ve gotta have an eagle eye to spot one particular tread pattern and besides that it was in the dark.

Ranks up there with "There's a camera in there, clearly" (36:10) . . . as he watches the footage of the interrogation.
lol i was just thinking the same thing
Yet I do get a kick out of his very Italian, St. Louis-y, Chicago-y accent.
