In this video, I'll be sharing 6 reasons why you need a fast 50mm prime, also known as the nifty fifty! I recommend this lens to every beginner photographers who I teach. The *50mm f/1.4* is probably my favorite lens, and is *ALWAYS* on location in my camera bag, ready to go. *What's your favorite go-to lens?*
I’m a Canon guy - The 50mm f1.4 is my go to night time and portrait lens. The 40mm f2.8 pancake is my walkaround daytime lens.
Sounds like a great combo! When I'm shoot film, my AE-1 has my 50mm f/1.8 on 95% of the time.
I have the canon 50 1.4 as well, one of my favorites as well. The 50 1.8 is so cheap tho that theres no reason not to have one. I also got a Tokina 17-35 f4 which is probably the best cheap alternative to the insanely expensive 16-35 L that all the real estate photographers love. Its my go to for wide angle stuff.
I've only ever used kit lenses, up until buying Canon's 50mm f/1.4 (a.k.a the "Plastic Fantastic"). Absolutely loved it!

If you’re a Nikon shooter, I recommend the 58 f1.4. Beautiful rendering

You're preaching to the choir here, I LUV the nifty-fifty lens for it's perspective and FAST sharpness! It was my first Nikon lens and then I upgraded to a 24-70mm and I'm ready for anything!

Thanks for another informative video. I have owned the 50mm Nikkor lens for more than 5 years. Inexpensive but yet very sharp, great at autofocus too.

personally always been more a fan of 85mm. tho lately i've been apreciating the 50 more and more... but still 85 is the winner for me!
The 85mm is a beast, and it's my go-to for portraits. I should definitely make a video on the 85 as well.
My 23mm f2 for my FUJI XT3 but my other FAV is a 18-300 TAMRON for FUJI X ......NIKON yes my 50mm f1.8 rocks ....I do like my 80-210 F4 D Nikon lens for street photography on my D600 ........great VID DUDE ......hope you have a great HOLIDAY SEASON

I don't like the 50mm 1,8 plastic thing. I have one...I also have an EF 50 1,4. I like it better. :) But I do just portraits, my go to is the EF 85mm 1,8.
The Canon 50 is pretty plasticy. I don't really mind because it makes some great photos.
I just purchased my first dslr...Canon 650D and my first ever lens....the Nifty 50"....can't wait to try it. Thanks again for your video...informative..thank you 😊

Great video. I have a Nikon 50mm f1.4. It’s a great lens in a crunch. It’s often a back up for my Nikon 85mm f1.4 if anything was to ever happen or for some reason I forget to bring the 85mm.

If I have an aps-c sensor, is my nifty 50 really a 30mm lens?
More like 70 to 85mm.
A crop sensor "zooms" in, not out.
@@RunNGunPhotoA 50mm on apsc would result in a field of view that correspondents with 75mm on a fullframe sensor camera but the focal length of your lens stays 50mm. A apsc sensor just takes a crop of the full frame picture so narrowing your field of view.
