    I feel like when you roll with the imperfections, the whole planner gets this really cool handmade vibe. It's only when it's the only thing on the page, or when everything else is overly perfect that imperfections stand out.

    Thank you for validating that it’s okay for a planner to be imperfect! I really struggle with fine motor skills because autism, so everything is always super wonky in my books… I’ve always felt quite bad about it, but this video definitely reassured me 😃

    I used to be REALLY into bullet journalling - it was my stress relief and I would decorate it like crazy. I stopped for a few years, tried on and off but didn't get back into it until the other day.
    I don't have any specific structure - weeklies or dailies or anything yet, just trackers and goals, etc. My mental health has been super low and at this point I'm just using it to try to give myself motivation to show up for myself as well as time to just relax and create. Here's hoping it works! Haha

  • @bodilnielsen9760
    @bodilnielsen9760 6 місяців тому +1

    I used to use a bullet journal and swapped to a Hobo cousin for many of the same reasons you did and used it for a couple of years. Now I use a take a note A5, which is a vertical weekly on 4 pages, so I have the daily and weekly overview all in one.
    I’ve slowly started to play around with how I want to use one for work and one for personal by adding sticky notes with use ideas and doing sketches. But trying to hold out on the actual setup, but its so hard 😂. So watching you set up your planner helps scratch that itch and totally agree with your points on letting the planner reflect our lives - mistakes and all.

    I completely agree with your sentiments on functional decorative planning as well as imperfections. That’s part of the reason I started my channel as well - to focus on just getting started and using your planners and journals and not focusing on the blank page or potential for “mistakes” or imperfections.

    i got my first hobonichi order today, second order should be here on monday. im wishing i got the hon already oh well. i use the blank page each month to write my months goals. not a birthday twin, but that was my wedding day haha. i use the cousin as a home catch all, the a6 for my art planning, and the weeks for my job stuff. been doing hobonichi for 5 years now. love it.

    I am still pondering between 2: the Hobo Cousin Hon or the New wonderland222 All in one planner for 2024 unstacked. Wonderland Besides yearly monthly weekly now has daily pages, extra columns for Satuday Sunday and weekly notes! plus quarter planning and trackers- Both planners are similar Wonderland has the layout I like but a higher price point. SO I will probably stick with Hobo just because the price is quite a bit lower and its not a huge deal going to a different section for monthly. But those quarterly planning areas and monthly trackers of wonderland are hard to resist.This and your video of 36 ways to use your hobo has helped a lot to ground my thoughts for a planner and focus on what I want to create for 2024.Cant wait to see more about your journey in this planner in 2024!

  • @MaikeOatley

    I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts! I totally agree that what matters most is that you capture your life. I do the same thing where I imagine myself flipping through my journals in ten or twenty years and how glad I will be to have recorded my life… I won’t sit there and be upset that I put a sticker on crooked or off-center or have smudged some ink.

    Thank you for making this! I think you nailed it on the head on how our planners are a reflection of us, as well as how decoration can be function too. Sometimes having a "pretty" page can make it more encouraging to plan on that page. I love how there are so many different styles out there and that as a community there can be something for everyone. Planner "art" can be simple, decorative, chaotic, messy, functional, artsy, or anything in between. ❤ Loving your channel Lindsey you're doing great!

      This is Tomoe River Paper, it’s specifically designed to be thin to reduce the thickness of notebooks (this is a 600 page book or something) and be bleedproof. It’s not ghostproof though. I personally love it, but it’s not for everyone!

    Perfection is not a role model. Real life is. What you called mistakes are not. They are part of who you are. If you try to be "perfect", it will no longer be representative of you. You will blend with the masses of people who pretend they are perfect. Regarding not being good at art, fussy cutting and gluing , you always have the choice to try to improve if you wish. Improving does not mean aiming for perfection, it means personal growth. Mind you, this is only my opinion. English is also my second language.
