Divise two, I'd say it's more about context. Here we are on some animation channel, so people aren't surprised to see a collaboration of animators. Also the original cartoon isn't super famous in France (most comments on the french video, may they be positive or negative, think it is all OC). Finally, Benzaie is - as you said - a rather famous french youtuber, meaning he has a large audience (38 times the subscribers of this channel), among which a lot of young people who didn't even read/understand the description and were just confused af. I'm not saying they are right, just pointing out that it has less to do with the "french community being bitches" than Benzaie's fans' understanding of this "meme".
Divise Two Go look at it again. Most of the comments are positive and praise how amazing a work it is. There will always be some "dickheads", but to look at them only is your personal choice. (edit : your comment and the despise in it actually pissed me of big time, so I took the time to count and, keeping only the comments that referred to the animation style, I found 18 negative ones for 100 positives (and got tired of counting after that))
Funnily enough, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was released on the same *day* this came out, so Rabbid Peach couldn't have made a better cameo in terms of timing

Wow. Five (damn near six) years since this masterpiece was born. I remember seeing this the day it came out a little after my birthday. This was stunning back then and it still is today. Thanks, Electronic Heroes, all the animators who participated, and Tony Rosato, Walker Boone, and Harvey Atkin for voicing the characters we know and love today.
Almost six years later, It's incredible to see Mama Luigi re-animated like this. Some of these styles would actually really be good for modern day Mario cartoons.
