The HOA where I live (we are owners, so take care of our own AC unit) does not allow window AC units. If you look at the images this broadcast was showing, you will not see one window unit. I'm sure they are not allowed there, either.

I have walked in the streets at 3 to 4am to hear AC units on in november and december. My problem with AC units is over usage after summer days. That landlords electric bill would continue being used at a higher rate well passed the hot summer days. Just like you have good and bad landlords you will also have good and bad tenants. Guess who the courts side with the most ?? So i tend to be more partial towards landlords because of the amount of abuse of rights tenants and squatters use against landlords.
