I just finished skim coating my walls and was wondering what the next step was before I apply my peel and stick wallpaper. This video helped out so much! Thank you!
Let it dry for over 24 hours please. Then get yourself clear strippable Paste such as dynamite 234. Roll it on your wall like you’re painting your wall and let that dry. For 24 hours. Then Alejandra, go for it and hang your appeal and stick
@@spencercolgan why are some companies (such as Spoonflower) adamant that I need to let it dry for at least 30 days? I'm so confused about how long I should wait!!
I have seen a lot of peel and stick tiles/wallpaper videos, and this is the first that has discussed the need for smooth walls. It looks like most people who do these temporary renovations already have smooth walls, but every apartment I've rented has had textured drywall! So here's my question - if I remove the texture from the wall, is there a way to put it back when I inevitably move out and take down the tile/wallpaper? No matter how good I may make the place look, I'm thinking the landlord will want me to remove it (cheap student apartments).
Thank you so much for your videos! I'm in an old pre war apt (plaster and lathe) and the texture of the walls is extremely imperfect. It's not purposely textured, but it's flat white paint and definitely textured. Do you think if I use a couple coats of a high gloss paint that it would help the wallpaper stick? Someone also mentioned using a primer specifically designed to be grippy? I'm not totally sure how to get around this issue... Thanks!
Our wall is not orange peel but is slightly textured because the drywall was not slim coated. So it is slightly stippled. We have a primer that is specially formulated to improve adhesion for stick on wallpaper. Do you think that will be sufficient or do I need to skim coat the wall? Thank you.
Do you have any advice for prepping the wall when using peel and stick (or just regular) vinyl tiles as a backsplash? I have heard they can come down right away or even over time. I also heard you should not use vinyl tiles on vertical applications, but I know some people on the internet have. I just don’t know whether or not this would still be a good option to use as a backsplash. I just figured it would be a good DIY or for someone with a budget and just trying to cover up a gross kitchen wall with food and grease splotch marks that have accumulated over time. I figured I can clean the wall first, then prime it, and then apply the peel and stick tile or even use an adhesive to stick it on the walls. What is the best way to go about this? I have looked all over UA-cam and google but only finding people using the shiny peel and stick backsplash they can get on Amazon or stuff for peel and stick wallpapers, but not for actual vinyl tile flooring or the peel and stick variety also for flooring.
Prime your wall with Kilz original oil primer. Then use Roman 880 adhesive. Put a layer with a brush on the wall first, let it dry, then put it on the back of your peel n stuck tile. Good luck.
Can I hang the wallpaper directly on my skim coated wall without priming? I wiped it with a damp cloth. My wallpaper is dark so I’m not worried about high spots showing.
What is joint compound? Seems a step was missed for this newbie. I have textured walls. do we scrape off the texture? I'm lost. I have orange peel texture. Thank you!
Had a question ❓ Would peel and stick products work any good on wood paneling . I have a living room with those all over it and it's so annoying and was just curious.
Will peel and stick stick to the wall without the primer? I just did a topping on the walls to smooth them out but I'm wondering if the primer is an absolutely needed thing? Thank you so much!!!
Can you put peel and stick over old wallpaper? We just bought a house that is ALL WALLPAPERED and has lathe and plaster underneath. Built in 1900. Just trying to find some options!
No. You can’t. See my video and it’s associated videos starting with When wallpaper removal becomes impossible. See the links to the other videos in this first one and you may discover Thank you don’t have to remove any of the wallpaper

What primer are you using?
Same question! I'm in a pre war apt (plaster and lathe) and the texture of the wall is extremely imperfect. What primer did you use?
Would you hang the peel and stick while the primer is wet, or let it dry?
what kind of brand do you recommend of stick wallpaper do you use?
Cole and Son

@@spencercolgan thank you. I will give it a try! The nasty wall is so gross to look at while cooking. I just need to resolve it!

No. Don’t scrape. Add j. Compound. Several layers. Eventually it will get flat.

Excellent’. No. They wouldn’t. Paneling breathes too much. Too much air = bubbles.

What is the skim coat? Joint compound?
Yes
