Just found your channel. Peter’s story reminds me of my own. I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in August 2015. My PET scan showed I was a glow worm. I spent 4 days in the hospital after radiation treatments to my spine. Needless to say I am in my 9th year of treatment, grateful every morning when I awake again! I am looking forward to reading Victober. I love Jane Eyre and would love to reread it again but I think I will be reading The Woman In White.
Wonderful TBR video! Thank you, this was the perfect way to begin October 1st! Also, at the start of your video you described my life as my daughter had a rare form of cancer at a young age, thank the Lord she is healthy and fine now. God bless you always dear friend.
Oh Kate!! Just seeing your happy face and hearing your voice did me so much good. I didn't even feel like I could actually really enjoy Victober at all this month while you are struggling so much. But you are right! Victober brings so much comfort and joy and when life gets absolutely turned upside down and feels so frightening and unhinged, one of the best things a family can do is keep on doing the normal things to help bring back the feeling of security. Who knows! Maybe this will turn out to be one of your most enjoyable Victobers ever. That would be really nice after the stinker you had last year. I am starting Deerbrook tonight!

I mostly just watched the Muppets version as a kid. 😆 I read a ton of G.A. Henty growing up, but haven't pick up any in over a decade. My favorites were At Agincourt and The Cat of Bubastes. My current Victober listen is Honest Faith by Spurgeon, and I am finding it quite powerful! It's a short book, so I might reread it as an ebook as well, since there are so many lines that I love. I’m so glad you went with your gut reaction and got him to the doctors quickly. Sending him all the best wishes and rooting for Team Peter all the way. I won’t offer and unsolicited health advice, as I fully appreciate your stance on that also, but I will say I just hope you take every opportunity you get during Victober for self care and nurturing your spirit and soul. Sending lots of love and hugs. You are such a strong lady and I admire you greatly for your determination and grace through very difficult times. Happy Victober Kate xx
@@amandalavelle2638 Thank you so much Amanda! I so appreciate your kind words. I hope that you too have a marvelous Victober despite the hardships you are experiencing.
Hi Kate, Sending you and your Family good Vibes! Sounds like your 2024 is kind of like mine. My Dad got sick with cancer and it didn’t look good and I had to move to help out. Six months on and my Dad who is very tough is doing great!! He gets tired a lot and can’t do as much as he use to and it frustrates him of course. I tell him. Dad you got hit by a Semi . Cut yourself some slack.😅 They really are doing great things in cancer medicine. Glad you are doing the things that give you energy and doing self care! ❤
Happy First Day of Victober 🥳🥳
I'm so glad that you're finding joy & excitement in Victober in these difficult times and that Peter seems to be responding well to his treatment. I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery and that your health situation improves soon 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Sending love 🧡
@@NadaOQ96 Thank you, Nada!!
Prayers for your son and you and your family, Kate. ❤️🙏 I hope Victober provides you with some comfort and joy. I think I read Treasure Island years ago, and I hope you and the boys continue to enjoy it. It was lovely to hear you mention Janelle. I still think of her often and if I can get my hands on The Tower of London, I would like to read that sometime in the early months of 2025.
Happy Victober! 🍂 📖 🧡
So fun to hear about your plans this month. Thank you for sharing even in the midst of very challenging times for your family.
Oh I am so sorry. I hope he gets well. Love and prayers for all of you.
I have POTS, too, and so I find myself thinking of you and wishing you well more than most booktubers I watch. I really appreciate the way you share your thoughts, and as I relate to your doctor experience as an adult, I am so glad to hear that your child is receiving such wonderful care. Wishing your whole family the absolute best and hoping you and your child are able to get plenty of rest. ❤
I started Life in the Sick-room by Harriet Martineau today, just interested in illness literature and not sure what prompt it might fit, but it seems like it will fit yours! Very touching and uplifting so far.
And what a great list of books. I wrote down a few, and you made me want to reread my childhood fav Treasure Island. Wonderful to enjoy together.

@@maryshimp2664 Mary, I'm so sorry that you have to walk this road. Books are a wonderful comfort in hard times!
Wonderful TBR video! Thank you, this was the perfect way to begin October 1st! Also, at the start of your video you described my life as my daughter had a rare form of cancer at a young age, thank the Lord she is healthy and fine now. God bless you always dear friend.
@@CafeCynthia Cynthia, thank you so much for sharing about your daughter! These success stories are so fortifying to me!
Yes to normalcy bringing comfort! We are still doing game night with the boys every Friday night and I just love that. I absolutely can't wait to hear what you think of Deerbrook!

I love all the happy Victober/fall things you are doing! Thanks for mentioning that version of Treasure Island; I really want to see it now. I want to cement them in my brain by seeing them in print! 🙂
@@shortstuff1177 haha, the Muppets version is great too!
Good to hear those G.A. Henty recommendations! So glad that Spurgeon is an edifying read for you.

Oh my goodness, Kate. That was a tough video to do, and you did it so well, while I was in tears! So glad that Peter has such good care and doctors that you trust and who understand your concerns. Tell Peter he's got a whole group of Booktubers on TeamPeter, and maybe we should have a TeamArthur too, it's got to be a challenging time for him as well. As always, your Victober enthusiasm is contagious. I'm most excited about The Heir of Redclyffe, all due to you--I'm several chapters in and enjoying it so far. The Eustace Diamonds may turn out OK for you--it's not political at all (just a small bit of Lady Glencora)--it's more a commentary on society and I thought it worked well on audio.
