in my state (a christian state in india) churches are taking initiatives creating awareness about climate change for the past few years and we have no problem teaching evolution to students despite our beliefs , i'm surprised that in such a developed country (USA) these are still a major issue , i feel like politicians are encouraging ignorance among christians .

sach kin As I understand its not the whole of US which has this problem its mainly some backwater southern states or among those mormon types.. As for India the issue is different we are more concerned about history and religion. If u go to the northern states like Rajasthan or Gujarat the right wing ideology is very visible in history books. Then again the reason y climate change and evolution is not touched to an extent is cos most of the syllabuses material is from the central govt which changes every now and then all schools including christian and state schools adopt that syllabus

    • @caramel7050

      hungry worm
      Except, you're wrong.
_"to be believe in science you must also have faith"_
You don't have to "believe in science". Science presents facts-- facts just _are._ They're not something you believe in.
_"imagine believing world started in bigbang, nobody saw it, but still athiest beleve,"_
Bahaha. We have more than enough evidence to make the Big Bang a scientific theory. Again, it's not just believing. _We have reasons to think that this thing did happen._ That's like saying "Nobody saw dinosaurs, but still, people believe they existed!" Well holy fuck, I wonder what the thousands upon thousands of fossil records are? Same goes for things like the redshift of galaxies and expansion of the universe. We don't exactly know _how_ the Big Bang happened, but we know that it was what got the universe as we know it going. Wether or not the universe already was before the Big Bang-- that comes down to hypothesis.
_"it takes faith to believe it."_
It takes faith to believe claims without evidence. The Big Bang, as I said, has evidence.
_"Science writer Lincoln Barnett, in his book, The Universe and Dr. Einstein, commented that the continuing discoveries of modern science have made it “more difficult” to ignore the idea of God."_
And that proves anything..how? There are plenty of religious scientists. So? That doesn't mean they're in the right. Much less a "science writer" from the 50s. That was his opinion- which is not a fact.
      _"science and faith are compatible."_
      Correct.
_,"religion believe their is gd in creation,"_
Yes, which, if taken literally as it happened in the Bible would be objetively impossible and a ridiculous fable. It already is, anyway.
_"and evoluyionist believe matter and energy collide,"_
You have an inherent misconception of what evolution is, it seems.
The Big Bang is unrelated to evolution. Evolution is the process with which species develop. It doesn't attempt to explain _how_ the species got here in the first place. This doesn't help your case, bud. Evolutionists study the ways in which species evolve. It's not a belief, it's a fact.
      _"the bigbang create theuniverse.,"_
Again, unrelated. And for your information, there can be theists who also believe in evolution. The Catholic church publicly accepts it.
      _"that is incompatible."_
Well, duh. Of course science and mythology are incompatible. Facts are facts, tales aren't real.

I'm nit even religious but once u do your "own" research on evolution you will see that life is based on time+chance= life. Science is not based on chance.....but evolition is. How can evolution therefore be science?

    • @JellyTrackmaster
      @JellyTrackmaster 4 роки тому +3

Yes, but Professor Dawkins use that title to further his educational agenda, of which I am complete agreement. If you have a scientific background, you know about lumpers and splitters, I will not go there, it's a long term argument in science; since you are watching this I will assume you know the basics of biological inquiry, the self correcting scientific method applies here; Darwin's Origin of Species set out the initial observational evidence that all of biology is grounded in the evolution of species; after 159 years of scrutiny it stands up; later evidence of Mendel, T.H. Morgan and Crick and Watson further supports the fact that evolution is the cornerstone of biology; that being said, I really like the Horny Fruit Flies name, wish I'd thought of that, when my son was 6 years old his first pets were fruit flies, when as an undergraduate I had to reproduce T.H. Morgan's fruit fly experiments

      SC 105.1
God never asks us to believe, without giving sufficient evidence upon which to base our faith. His existence, His character, the truthfulness of His word, are all established by testimony that appeals to our reason; and this testimony is abundant. Yet God has never removed the possibility of doubt. Our faith must rest upon evidence, not demonstration. Those who wish to doubt will have opportunity; while those who really desire to know the truth will find plenty of evidence on which to rest their faith. SC 105.2

Evolution, like all scientific phenomenons, doesn't rely on beliefs, but in observation and evidence, instead. Therefore, regarding evolution for instance, the term "believing" is incorrect. The right term to be utilized should be "agreement" or "acceptance" of it's existence as a biological fact.

I think it is fair to point out that while Islam does opress Islam, here in America they can be an opressed minority by Christians and the government. Whether by violence or travel bans. Now, what Dawkins, Bill, and Sam Harris do is not opressive. I agree with their criticisms 100 percent. But Muslims have more to worry about than just other Muslims, and I think it's important to acknowledge that.

The midde-east minority is in no way getting oppressed in America. Oppression takes place in the countries from which they run away in the first place. They have all the rights and freedoms here, none of which would be given to you if you went to their countries. That's oppression for you.

ive never seen it and i live in germany with around 40% foreigners in my city. ive never ever seen it. ive never seen facts about it. ive never seen evidence. and i would never turn a blind eye to it. but i am a man of facts and not wishful thinking.

I realize now how out of touch I am. Science was science.....there is something to be said about the The Scientific Method. I asked a 16 year old yesterday about that and he looked at me like I was old and crazy. I remember the Darwin evolution chart from Neanderthal Man to today...nevermind. MadAboutSaffron Red I'm not saying it is but people like Maher and Hawkins want Americans to get on board with scientific issues but they think the was to do that is to call them idiots and insult the most important aspect of their culture. I think that we should try to reason with them, as many people accept both and science together, it is possible to get people to support the environment if you talk to them the right way.

What? Are you guys even real? How do you even think you're involved in writing a comment on youtube? You have no choice over this - it's all happening automatically, as defined by your genes, evolution, the memes programming your behavior etc.. Better go back to bed. Whatever you think you're doing doesn't matter in the least.
Physics and chemistry apply to your brains just like the apple falling from the tree. No room for any "choice" in there. You're as real as a teapot between Jupiter and Mars... not required. First thing Occams razor is going to do is scratch you out of the equation.
All of your so-called "achievemens" are just fake.
Small wonder Dawkins emphasizes "awe" and other self-gratifying/masturbatory experiences of a passive observer. It's the only thing left in his anti-humanist world view that constrains human beings to total irrelevance. Quite a comfortable position indeed.
Guys, the world is going to shit right now! We need to fix it. We can't afford being held up by subscribing to an ideology that has you comfortably recline on an anti-religious "us vs. them" arm chair observing the "awesome universe" - WE ARE REQUIRED TO GET THE FUCK OUT AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT RIGHT NOW
AND THAT MEANS US, THEM, YOU AND ME
