Watch her sing this live!🎵! Her voice is unmistakable & her guitar playing is top notch!!🎶🎸🎤
Live performances are always enjoyable, but I've seen her do this live and nothing, but nothing, beats the pace and funkiness of this studio version!
She's a great slide guitar player to go along with that great voice!
This is the blues baby! No country involved. Bonnie was a huge champion of the OG MISSISSIPPI blues musicians who never made any money in the day, taking them on tour with her, and promoting their music. This was my first exposure to "real delta blues", at her concerts. Thank you for the reaction.
Tx for letting us heathens know what's up
That is 💯 a blues song. And she crushed it! Love me some Bonnie Raitt. True American legend. Great reaction, Asia and BJ!🤓🤠😤❤️
Oooh yes…Love the queen of blues!!… she can sing the hell out of anything, and no one disputes that she’s one of the best blues guitarist ever, thanks for dropping Bonnie Raitt today Y’all, have a great day!
This is one of my all time favorite Bonnie Raitt songs. No one can sing this song like Bonnie. Bluesy, incredible guitar, soulful…it’s the whole package! Listen to all of her early music. She’ll blow you away!!!
I love this woman Bonnie Raitt is a queen and I love singing her songs and this is one of my favorite all-time songs. She has made her used to singing all the time not too long ago. It’s one of those bluesy songs that just is just too cool.
Asia & BJ, you'll love her "Something To Talk About", "I Can't Make You Love Me", "Angel From Montgomery", "A Thing Called Love" and many more!!!! I saw her in concert July 1990, great show. Very deep rabbit hole with Bonnie! She is known for her voice and slide guitar!!
Grew up listening to her bc my mom loved her. Bonnie is the real deal.
Bonnie Raitt is her own self, this entire album, I'm telling you, is a great one. "Nothing Seems To Matter" and "Love Has No Pride" and "If You Gotta Make A Fool" and "Give It Up (Or Let Me Go)" are all must listens from this album, which I have never tired of after 50 years.🎶 I know you'll love it all the way through✌
Omg, Love Has No Pride! That song sends chills down my spine!!!
Yeeeessss!!!
I am never one who likes the songs from great artists that "won all the Grammys and got the most radio play". But with Bonnie, there is no norm, there is no best or greatest. Every time she sings, she slays. She is the GOAT in her couple genres.
That said...Bonnie Raitt, LP Nick of Time, 1989. This collection won 13 Grammys. Every song is a gem. Start with "Nick of Time". Then to "Thing Called Love", Love Letter", "Have a Heart", etc.
Then go back to 1977 to EVERY single song on LP Sweet Forgiveness. You've done "Two Lives". Don't stop there! Every song on that album is better than the last. Trust me. PLEASE!!! ✌️🎶✌️🎶🩵
Asia and Bj. Thanks for playing some Bonnie. A fantastic artist who has a large collection of music. You will not be disappointed . Great reaction. Appreciate you 🙏 ❤
A woman who can sing and play the blues !
Pure greatness !
👍👍👍🇸🇪😎💕
Bonnie's dad was a famous Broadway singer/actor. When she was very young she ran off to the Delta to learn all about the Blues from the real thing, the old time Blues men.
During her long career she has played with all the greats, like B.B. King & Muddy Waters.
She was also good friends with Stevie Ray Vaughan & credits him with helping her get clean & sober.
She & Stevie Wonder sang "Amazing Grace", acapella, at Stevie Ray's funeral.
When you're talking about Bonnie, remember, she's always been considered a Blues singer/guitarist...one of the best. Forget Country. She's Blues.
Hope you get around to "Love Letter"...one of her best & a fun one too.
You'd both love it.
💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙
One of the best Blues guitarists in history
Bonnie is so talented! You guys need to do "I Can't Make You Love Me" live with Bruce Hornsby on piano.
A classic heartbreak song, huh
Listen to "You Gotta Know How" her cover of Sippie Wallace. She is deeply steeped in the blues, like old time, Black women's blues
Also Bonnie Raitt and Sippie Wallace singing "Women be Wise" together.
Yaaaas, anything BR is great, but the early stuff is the absolute bomb!
She is deep blues scholar... she was friends with many legendary (yet not well remembered) blues artists. Most prominently Sippy Walace.
She’s all blues. Mississippi delta blues with a bit of bluegrass.
I ran across a YT video of Bonnie doing this live, alone, on acoustic guitar at Austin City Limits. Saucy. It is cool to see her get after it on the acoustic guitar. She is freaking awesome.
She's the blues, she's rock and roll, she's country, she's EVERYTHING! Love Me Like a Man is a great song, I used to sing it myself, back in the day. She learned the blues with Sippy Wallace, she's the real thing.
Please checkout the video of Bonnie on the tv show Midnight Special from back in the 70’s. She does a great cover of the 1961 classic, “Runaway”. Fantastic performance! 😁
More Bonnie. Any Bonnie. Rolling Stone has done lists of the greatest guitarist of all time. And the greatest women guitarists of all time. She is one of the few women on both lists.
That’s Bonnie on slide guitar, too, btw!
I have suggested before and here goes again. From her first LP “Since I Fell For You” a remake of the old Lenny Welch song.
Couldn't agree more. It really shows off how beautiful Bonnie's voice is!
Always loved her. Her old song “Darlin” is one of my all time faves on the country side. She’s a true genius because she crosses lots of genres and holds her own.
Hello, Bonnie started in the Blues. Her big influences include Sippy Wallace, t bone walker and others. Her first album simply titled Bonnie Raitt is fantastic. She covers some Robert Johnson. This was fun to see. ❤
Bonnie plays a mean blues guitar, I’ve seen her in person!!
At last! Think I recommended this a year ago lol. And one of the best lines in a song - "rock me like his backbone was my own".
Bonnie is Blues to the Bone! Fell in love with her in high school and she’s been my favorite singer ever since. She never compromised herself or her music for fame and fortune, never sold herself out. I saw her last year live in Portland ME. Even in her 70’s she’s a force. Her slide guitar playing is legendary and she is sought after by many other artists of all genres for collaboration, 7:52 back up vocals and slide guitar. I once saw her in concert with BB King. She adored John Prine. And has been a mentor to Brandi Carlile. She does folk, pop, jazz, and quasi-country, but blues is her main thing. Fun fact, she’s a lifelong Quaker who’s deeply passionate about justice and civil rights. A very underestimated artist and human being ❤
Isn’t she great? Bonnie won a Grammy last year for “Just Like That”. If you haven’t given that a listen, please do. There will be tears.
Many were shocked when Bonnie won, because so few had heard "Just Like That", but after they listened to the song, they realized it wasn't even a contest.
This is a great song ... Also, Dianna Krall does a fantastic version .... pls check it out if you can ! Both great ladies ... I admire women who tell it like it is and know what they want 😊 !
Spot on Asia! Straight Country/Blues. Bonne's first few albums were drenched in the traditional country blues. Bonnie and Maria Muldaur been doing it since they came up.
"I Wil Not Be Denied" is my favorite by her... she's something else. Saw her live with other blues singers (as guests)...best show Ive been to. Thanks for reacting to her, love her❤
Love this song by Bonnie. She sings it like it is! Both of you were cracking me up with your reaction😊She also plays outstanding guitar. Thanks guys for posting this one!💞
Glad you enjoyed it
I’m so glad you reacted to this song. You two pick the best songs! She is definitely blues!
She's definitely a blues singer. Saying that Country singers are good blues singers, and blues singers make good country singers. They're related as also folk and blue grass.
My friend and I recently saw Bonnie in Concert in Manchester, England. I have been a fan for some time but this was the first time I had seen. She was excellent, this tiny figure had real stage presence.
She's got such a great voice, but Bonnie is a really good acoustic blues player in that finger pickin' style. she started out with the blues. The song was written by her friend Chris Smither and he also gave Bonnie some guitar lessons early in her career. He is a renowned acoustic folk-blues artist, keeping the tradition of that delta blues finger picking style alive. Check out her version of "Runaway"
I love Bonnie Raitt, but this song, is one of my all time favourite songs. Stays on the main playlist and I listen to it once a week at least (6 times in a night if I'm into the whiskey and weed). Im so excited to see it on a reaction channel. I love watching people experience some of my favourite music for the first time. ❤
Bonnie attended Ratcliffe College graduating with a degree in African studies. Bonnie always loved the Blues. She hung out listening to the likes of Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and several others. They took a shine to the gorgeous redhead who could rake on the slide guitar. She has honored thse relationsships by creating a foundation to assist these artists in their retirement years. Bonnie is one of the greatest slide guitar players on the planet. A legend and a national treasure.
For Country Bonnie check out Don't It Make You Wanna Dance from the Urban Cowboy soundtrack.. for a great duet check out her performance with her Dad, Broadway star John Raitt on Top of the Pops- I'm Blowing Away. She's great with Keb Mo, too. The lady is just a musician's musician and total CLASS.✌️❤️
I,ve been a fan of Miss Bonnie since the 70,s! She,s got real soul baby! 😊😊
She's all blues and plays the hell outta her guitar..
She IS a Blues artist pure and simple. Met her at the Blues Awards in Memphis
Bonnie is incredible. She is an excellent slide guitar player
She played with the greatest blues musicians. Buddy Guy, BB King, Sippie Wallace and more
She is my favorite female musician ❤
Bonnie is much more than a terrific singer. She studied with authentic bluesmen and she plays slide guitar like she means it, because she does. She's the real deal through and through.
Finally! Y'all rock! Thanks especially for this 'un!✌️❤️
You rock!
She does mostly blues. Played with BB King and many greats❤❤❤
My friend has been singing this song at gigs for over 40 years, it’s always been a fan favorite
You guys are awesome. I appreciate and thank you for what you do and how you do it on here. You're bringing joy to everyone. Keep it going.
Bonnie is, and always has been, a Blues artist. Some of her music has touches of country, but that woman is Blues all the way. ✌🏼♥️
She’s a great guitarist as well as a great singer, one of the best!
The incomparable Bonnie Raitt. She is just awesome all the way around. 💯🔥
Keep in mind. Bonnie was 22 yrs old when she did this. ❤
Been lucky to see Bonnie many times in New England where's she originally got her chops in the Boston folk/blues scene. Her prowess on the slide guitar was legendary.. Lowel George was her mentor as far as the slide was concerned. She is one of those rare artists who are better live than on her studio albums.
I have been listening to this song since the 70s. Still have my original album!❤
You do know that all that slide guitar work/lead/etc, is HER. And she isn't country, never has been. She's always been from folk blues. Yes: the whole album is killer!
Im a huge fan of bonnie raitt she was a superstar
Bonnie’s early influencers were the Mississippi Delta Blues guitarist s. She played with Sippie Wallace, John Lee Hooker and Buddy Guy amoung others.
Her first two albums are classics, (this being the second, I think) with Bonnie laying claim to being one of the great slide guitar players of the time. She later summed it up pretty well with "The Road's my Middle Name" from the great 'Nick of Time' album. A real woman indeed. Thanks for this great choice.
Bonnie Raitt is the epitome of female blues singers & guitar players. She has a long list of influences including Sippie Wallace. Check out her cover of Randy Newman's "Guilty," which is spectacular!
Or her version of Veyler Hildebrand's "The Glow" from a few years after that.
Bunny rate is a person who started out as a Blues singer I think in her late teens early 20s. Keep hung around with blues men like Moe's Allison, Buddy waters, Buddy Guy the true old blue skies. Get a lot of appearances and Use music with John Lee Hooker too. She hung around with some of the best and she is a fantastic slide guitar player She hung around with some of the best and she is a fantastic slide guitar player
I can't imagine my world without Bonnie Raitt's music. I just know it would be a much smaller place.
Bonnie raitt can sing anything country blues rock and roll
😂 Bonnie has always been and will always be...Bad to the Bone... She is the Package...Sang'n and Play'n... Hug's Y'all~
"Something to Talk About " and "Runaway" are a couple of great tunes by Bonnie
She is considered an American Blues singer/guitarist. Blues-Rock-folk rock-Americana Country Rock. She’s never really been a “ country singer” 😉
That was blues. And Bonnie is all about it. Blues.
she's playing lead guitar here to0
Check out the version of this song on the double live album "Road Tested". The original album version is good, but this live version finds her 20+ years older and, imo, with a much richer and playful voice. Plus, the guitar solo is sooo good.
More!! She is playing the guitar too😮😅😅😊😊😊
Bonnie Raitt is in a class of her own.
She is Blues! Longtime love Bonnie
She playing that guitar as well like nobody's business🎸
She has payed her dues great musician
She played a great slide guitar my mom listen to her Mom has passed she gave me a Love of music 😢
Bonnie cut her teeth on the Blues Blues. She performed with BB King and started in that style
Nothing better than early Bonnie Raitt
She’s a great blues guitarist as well! You should check out some of her live videos…
I love me some Bonnie my favorite Bonnie song is angel from Montgomery give it a listen
Check out her first album, self-titled. It's amazing.
You guys need to see her 1972 Live Version of "Angel From Montgomery"
She is a sex symbol all of her own. The way she plays that guitar! I saw her in the 70s in a small venue and it was so fabulous. This was her album that was out and this was my favorite song. She's strictly blues, (with some rock thrown in) and the first woman I saw live playing slide guitar. She tears that thing up!
Bonnie is a Blues singer - not country! Play Give it up or let me go from the album that you are showing!
The song was written by Chris Smither, Asia & BJ would do well to feature his original version.
You need to watch the live version
If you don’t know, that’s her playing the guitar on the lead
Love her.. Angel from Montgomery is a good one too.
Check out Cheap Trick The Flame live in 1988 first time performed.
Bonnie's a real man
She's also the one playing the guitar.
I don't know what it is about American blues, but every single artist of whatever genre sounds better when they're singing the blues. In my opinion (but I'm right).
Most of what you talk about I don't understand but I love you none the less
If you react to other Bonnie Raitt use her Road Tested album. Live version done during the height of voice. More rasp and attitude. Slows down of the earlier work. Like this one.
Lime watching you react to music I loved fir years.
She's always been a Blues singer and guitarist, not country. She's played with all the Blues greats like Buddy Guy, BB King etc...She's a great slide guitarist.
You guys need to listen to Bonnie and Ruth Brown duet
She is NOT a country singer. I don't know why people say that. Check out Angel from Montgomery.
Her take on a great Chris Smither song.
Bonnie started off as a blues singer.
