    This video is Part 2 of my Scindapsus Series where I propagate each one of my Scindapsus plants and use 5 different substrates to root them! Stay tuned for part 3 in some time after all these root and grow. I will be recording updates on them. If you want to know more about my scindapsus plants I will leave my collection video below. Water and moss both do great for me. I've never used fluvel! The only thing with water you really have to keep them moist when you pot them up because those roots are so use to being in water. I have some scindapsus growing in water that I left in to long to pot! They look really cute so I'm just going to keep them like that, I add a little fertilizer to the water and their growing great.

      oh no, I hope the roots are okay! If the node is still good it will eventually push a new leaf in some time. I feel like scindapsus just take a really long time to grow 🥰

    I finally did it. It took me 2 days to get up the courage to chop up my scindapsus exotica and my monstera peru. this is my first time doing this. it was scary for me. the thought of destroying my beloved plant is heartbreaking
    especially after caring for it for a year. i know im being dramatic 😆. but I did it. now the wait to see if I did it right. I used the perlite method for the leafs and spaghuman moss for the emty wet sticks. wish me luck.

    Thanks for a fun video, Melissa!
    I’m thinking the following for order of fastest propagation substrates:
    1. Fluval Stratum
    2. Fluval, Moss & Perlite
    3. Perlite
    4. Moss
    5. Water
    Truly though, I think that it’ll be highly successful and pretty much a tie for all of the propagations under your attentive care. 🍃💚

    I love propagating in perlite! Aside from the dust (which isn’t a big deal especially if you do it outside) it’s so easy to manage the watering. I think water would probably produce roots the fastest though!

    I don’t know which substrate will produce the best results and that is why i am looking forward to seeing the results. Fluval? This is new to me and hoping that I don’t have to add another substrate to those I keep on hand, but if it makes a considerable difference I will. Thanks Melissa for sharing this experiment. I’m hoping I’ll feel confident enough to do my first scindapsus prop after this. Being in the Southern Hemisphere I may wait until next spring to optimise chance of success☀🌞

  • @avaf1084
    @avaf1084 Рік тому

    I've never used fluval for any of my plants. I am curious to see how successful it is. I prefer using only perlite for propagations. I have used moss in the past but it's difficult to remove the moss when you are going to repot. What substrate will you be using when you finally pot up your cuttings?

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Рік тому

      I plant on adding most of them back in to the mother plant but I'll be using my normal chunky soil mix I make :)

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Рік тому

      I'm so sorry that is happening! 🥹 Whenever I get rot I cut off all that I can and soak in a water and hydrogen peroxide mixture for about 30 min then repot into a fresh mix. If there's not enough roots then I usually root them in moss until they can grow more stronger ones.
