    You're a lifesaver! 90°+ and I'm having to put a new blower motor on in 98 CVPI.
    Was so frustrating.
    How did us driveway mechanics ever do this without UA-cam in the 70s?

    This video was very helpful! My replacement motor didn't come with a new retainer clip so I was able to use vice grip pliers to pull straight up on the clip to pull it off intact and able to be reused

    Thank you for getting me on the right track. For a minute I thought I'd have to buy another cage because it was stuck on so tight. I held the unit by the cage and tapped the shaft lightly with a hammer until the shaft was flush with the top of the cage then used your method the rest of the way.

    Definitely helpful, once I saw how this worked and what was important I sprayed a bit of lubricant and I took a flathead and banged on the motor rod itself while my gf supported the fan and it popped right off. I attempted the pry method but I knew I would probably break it. Thank you!

    Thanks. I don’t think I would have got this off without this video. If there is corrosion on the motor shaft, clean it off before attempting to pull the fan off. You have to be patient just as the creator says. Also the flat style pry bars work better.

    A thin coating of silicone grease on new shaft makes it easier to come off in future blower motor replacement, either for you- or the next owner.

    I was confused regarding the clip. So I ended up using a pair of pliers to bow it into a concave shape to get it off, and then used a 5/16 socket to knock it back onto the new one.
    This was on a 1994 Cougar.

    Most peeps are just getting aft. market ching ones with fans so they dont have to do this but i dont buy any of that crap ( autozone parts mostly dont even work out the box) if i can get oem. My quest, is though are you saying the fan is obselete ??? because when they get old they explode in the housing, but i def, want oem motor and ill buy, if have to an aft. market later just for the cheap ass fan. thanks ford tech, and if you can answer quest,........ are fans themselves (mine 2003 f250 5.4) obselete ???

    For those who are removing this " wheel " as he describes , I did and I did another thing ... I took a hair dryer and blew it on the face of the plastic wheel ... blew on it with dryer for around 1.5 minute ... right ?
    It came right off applying pressure on it as video states to do . I guess heat helps

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  4 роки тому

      If packed with enough dirt or debris to cause an imbalance yes but that was not the case with this unit. Here's why you don't want to clean it, you see those little black clips randomly placed on the fins? Those are balancing weights, do you really want to risk knocking those off by cleaning it thereby causing an imbalance and terrible vibration all because it looks dirty so you just couldn't leave it alone.
