    Are those squirrel cages repairable? How do you know when it's gone bad? I mean aside from it being noisy. Aren't they always noisy and just vary between being noisy and noisier and eventually noisiest? Thanks for the video...straight to the point! Except this was more about replacement vs. repair no? Again, thank you.

    • @WorldofHVAC
      @WorldofHVAC  Рік тому +1

      The cage itself is not repairable. You can try to bend it and balance it but a new squirrel cage is between $35-$60. If you're having issues its easier to just replace the wheel with a new balanced one.

    My inside unit is making a low/deep banging sound (like a constant, medium pace bang on sheet metal) the sound is near where the squirrel box “blower” is located. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

    • @WorldofHVAC
      @WorldofHVAC  Місяць тому +1

      Turn it off and wait till it stops. Reach your hand inside the blower and see if paper or insulation got sucked into the wheel. You dont have to take it the blower out to do it. Just make sure it's off

    @WorldofHVAC,
    Great video, @WorldofHVAC. I did almost exactly that but now I have a bit of vibration. The wall adjusent to the blower motor assembly is slighly rattles. Before placing wheel back i spun the wheel by hand and it was not perfect spin. It was a little off . Any thoughts? Is it motor shaft is bent or wheel?

    • @WorldofHVAC
      @WorldofHVAC  Рік тому

      Assuming the motor is centered, if the wheel wobbles when you spin it by hand the wheel is off balance. I have bent it back into alignment (the best i could) and that helped. If that fails just try and get a new wheel. They are $30-$50

      @@WorldofHVAC how do you i bend it into alignment? Just pressing manually on wheel while assambled? What website do you recomend to buy a wheel? I see them up to $200. Unit Model # FX4DNF049.

    I have a Comfortmaker PGS442090KGP01C and was wondering if I can just remove the blower wheel by following your steps to sand the motor shaft and then remove the set screw and pull it out for cleaning. I would rather not have to remove extra stuff if I don't need to do so.

    • @WorldofHVAC
      @WorldofHVAC  3 місяці тому

      You can try but that wheels not coming out with the shaft through it. You don't have to take apart the motor if you just want to clean the wheel

    Mine is making a screechy rattling noise. Don't trust myself to take it apart if it's something I can do with unit still on. I'm thinking it's just hitting against something but I'm not sure

      A screech sounds like the bearing are bad and you need a new motor

  • @Feefifofum24

    Looks identical to mine. Issue is having is after flame ignites but before you hear the blower kick on you hear this thunk sound one time then one more time after it kicks on then no more the rest of the time. Sometimes louder than others, it’s 100% coming from that blower and wheel but it kinda sounds like it is rubbing real quick sorta thing. Maybe out of balance? Any idea?

    What's the issue with using a convex blower wheel vs concave? thx

    • @WorldofHVAC
      @WorldofHVAC  Рік тому +1

      I've never seen a convex blower. The concave design is meant to scoop the air. Ive seen those cups get so clogged with dirt they flatten out and struggle to move air.

    • @iReapuh
      @iReapuh Рік тому +1

      Typically convex is for shorter shafted motors, there’s not a huge difference

    I have a RUUD furnace UGDA-125A-GR I can't find a blower motor. Any suggestions.

    • @WorldofHVAC
      @WorldofHVAC  Рік тому

      Ruud is a very common brand. Acme or coburns can look up the model number. They probably have it in stock.
      You can take the blower out and get the model number off of the tag.

      @@WorldofHVAC Just a thought, how much does the removal tool cost compared to a new blower wheel ? Oh.....I looked it up. A new blower wheel like seen in this video is about three times more expensive than the removal tool.

  • @dolfinwriter5389

    One criticism that I have of almost every video on the Internet. You are mirror flipped, so when you say righty-tighty, leftie-loosie, you are APPEARING TO BE turning to the right to loosen. Follow? Then when you held up the WD40 can I was certain. You just might confuse somebody that doesn't have a lot of experience wrenching.
