i am somewhat mechanically inclined I had just recently taken the axle out of that same vehicle to do the seal that was leaking and my father finished the brakes. well all the brake lines had rusted and now I replaced those but noticed that the new seal that I put in may have been leaking or the wheel cylinder was non the less i took it all apart and was scratching my head on the best way and order to do the shoes and the spring shit. I stumbled across and picked your video and followed it, and I just want to say thank-you. very helpful God bless!
it's funny you said that (Oh sorry Rich from Ohio,) we had just left the parts store when my father said I forgot something ( he meant brake fluid) I said yeah a disk kit lol Easier and better performance have a good day bud...
Brother you did excellent not to mention the job alone it’s quite difficult and filming I am sure it makes it much more difficult and distracting you rock brother thank you blessings coming your way Bud 👋🏻
you are right about that but shoot after 11 years with no glovebox and being bought used AND BEING A MAN the last thing most of us do is read the directions LOL I.ll sneak a peak at UA-cam and act like I knew most of that good day to you to sir
I wish when people made these videos that they would show the spring to the camera so people know exactly what spring goes where. There are three Springs that look very similar. Other than that, decent video.
Maybe you didn't notice but in your video if you look at it one more time. You'll notice when you started the longer pad was to your left and when you ended you had the shorter pad on your left side which is incorrect placement. This is something I just learned while doing my brakes and I had to redo them. I did the same mistake you did. The shorter pad goes towards the front and the longer pad goes to the rear on either side for them to work properly. Then you have to get them super close adjusted so that you don't get a spongy brake , when you step on the break. Also there's a tool they sell it's a brake resetting gauge about 37-45 for the gauge on Amazon. It measures the inside of your drum then you tighten it down and the opposite side will give you the measurement to how out the brake pad should be. Trust me there's a lot of research to get it right good luck
Its funny how drum brakes seem so much more complicated than disc brakes! Good video, everyone should have to change drum brakes at least once in their life.
Can you start off and say hey im on the driver rear drum or the gd passenger side and just show a pic the whole face of the drum Assembly not just a gd top angle.. Fml i just need a stupid solid ref..
ok I give it a try to do it I ve work on all kinds cars all my life I guess i am getting more tired now in my old age , Question after cylinders are done how long do i bleed the brakes. thanks for your help
i can understand that iv bean working on a car that's bean pushing my temper .you should bleed your breaks till no more air bubbles come out and the fluid runs steady starting from the furthest brake from the master cylinder. hope all goes well and if your not up to it and have the money you can decide whatever works for you.
Sam! It's easy to remove items! Boy putting it back together, it's like, putting a Clock back together after you took it apart, good job.
👍

One thing people have to realize is that the brake system of cars is one the most important part of a car. RTFB. You can learn a lot from manuals.

Just an FYI.
There are two different sizes a primary and a secondary. (Long and short).
Long goes to rear.
(I did the same exact mistake)

a question which left or right rear replacement?
the one in the vid is the right but i replaced both at the same time
@@JunkworksGarage thank you very much, another question the left rear brakes would be the reverse position?
@@adnerflores2827 I have a longer version of this vid that might help on my astro van playlist, i'm not exactly sure what your asking .
the shop wanted $600 to do my back brakes with new cyinders wow that looks like a night mare now i see why
its not relay that hard and its less than 75 bucks in parts. and in my experience they wont do it right anyway but to each there own
