    I was in the us army and spent 5 1/2 years in Germany, through the early-late 1980's, and love the place and the people. Was stationed in West Berlin for a while, and have been collecting a few military artifacts from WW2. I've got a M35 helmet, some authentic JU87 parts, and even have a vintage U201 pin🤗 I also enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work my friend

      I lived in manheim as a kid in late 70s early 80s. Dad was army. But as kids we would go out to the woods and play. And their was all kinds of military stuff still present from ww2. Bunkers mainly . Big concrete hangar buildings. I liked Germany also. Beautiful country with such a dark past.

      My mom had cousins that fought for the German Army they had many artifacts they had collected but sadly overtime many of the items disappeared. My mom said one of the nicest items was a German helmet in excellent condition as a collector I would have loved this. Thanks again for another great video.

    Wow. Just wow. Even though the camera doesn't truly show it, you can still see how immensely thick the roof was of that incredible bunker. It is a shame that the Soviets decided to blow it all up after the way. But that was their way of killing two birds with one stone, by using captured mines, and other munitions, to remove all trace of the German's military presence. It disposed of the unwanted explosives, and evidence of the Nazi regime, all at the same time. After the war that area was used by the East German Police, as an Urban Warfare training ground, so that probably explains the very crude block walls everywhere. It is stunning to think of the amount of time, and effort, put into, both, constructing this bunker, and destroying it. So much work, from two different mind sets. Thank you guys for showing us this amazing piece of History. Looking forward to seeing what else this site has to offer. Cheers to you both!

    Great job HH on the video. There was another video from couple of years ago that estimated a couple of tons of Semtex. They used multiple layers of reinforcement mesh instead of rebar. Which is why they could bring it down. Was not built like the Flak towers in Berlin, which they tried to destroy but only scratched them. I would say by the concrete pedestal they were dual or quad 20mm not 88's. Another great video can't wait for part 2. Stay safe and well.

    This is about a 25 minute video but I was curious as to how long it actual took you to explore this location. I know it was more than 25 minutes. I would think hours of video then editing cuts it to 25 minutes. Like you I wonder how much TNT they used to do this much damage to such a large and well built bunker. I thought too that maybe the Russians built around this bunker to protect it as they removed top secret equipment. Very interesting location and something you won’t see on other channels.

    Who did the Germans pour so much concrete at one time???? The block walls are so thick, so what kind of machinery did they use to mix tons of cement all at once to pour at the same time to make such a thick wall all at once.. Looking at the concrete there is no crumbling or soft spots where it was broken, so the concrete was very hard when it cured... Is Germany known for itself concrete??? when you look at all the bunkers, tunnels, and gun emplacements all over Germany you have to wonder!!!

    • @WW2HistoryHunter

    Maybe the rebar is small because they couldn't allocate huge amounts towards structures . I'm sure they wanted to put as much of their metals in weaponry. which during a war such as this would eventually turn into a valuable resource. Them germans had a lot going on in development in latter stages.

  • @featheredskeptic1301
    @featheredskeptic1301 3 місяці тому +1

    I think the destruction was probably done either by an air raid or by the germans themselves as they were retreating from the position. Could have also been the soviets if they captured it, and were afraid that the germans would be able to push them out of there, but I doubt that. By then Germany didn't have the recourses to do serious counterattacks.

    WOW......I still can not believe how big that bunker is; and from you said, yes, would have to be there to really consume it all. BUT, from the video, I think this must be the biggest bunker we have been to???? Yes,no? Also, the size of the rebar is so small, its not wonder it blew up the way it did(with several tons of tnt most likely). It is too bad that it was blown up; to be able to see what the inside look, oh man oh man!!!! The Russians didn't help any with their "band aid" either lol. Looking forward to seeing the next clip on this adventure. Thanks for taking us. Stay safe, well and smile........until then, my friend..............................................................

    Just wow, can you begin to imagine what that U-boat communication bunker would have looked like in its original state. Gigantic indeed. A shame it was vandalized, and the graffiti monsters did their handy work. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of work that was put into building this monster. The Germans knew their stuff and were so advanced. Very interesting. Thanks, EE & HH. ❤

    Finally getting time to sit down and write about the last three videos posted. Been quite hectic these last several days and, in the evenings, when I've finally been able to sit down to write before I can get to it one of my two cats jumps into my lap and curls up quickly followed by the other one. This evening they're finally letting me write.
    Man, that is truly a massive structure. The video gives you a really good idea as to how big it is but sure it doesn't even compare to seeing it in person to get a real perspective! Can't even imagine all the time and resources that the Nazi government put into building it. Then you have to realize all the effort the Soviets put into destroying the site. It certainly must have taken a lot of explosives to destroy it that much. Then the Soviets turn around and try to build on it! Think they would've left it alone to reuse it. The lousy job they did building on it gave me a good laugh.
    Thanks for taking us along on the trip!

    Great bunker with so much concrete and reinforcement yet blown up into pieces, enormous destruction. The thickness of the concrete reminds me of our fort Kijkduin here in the Netherlands, city of Den Helder. The fort was covered with sand and a concrete layer with reinforcement. More thickness than I could spread my arms. But great video again and big thumbs up for you two

    Would love to see photos of this place when occupied by the Germans. Tall radio towers, men and vehicles all over. Are you sure the Germans didn't destroy it knowing the Russians were near ? That took a lot of well placed explosives. Anyway, nice video guys. Stay safe.
