Wow , that is very kind of you my friend and so appreciated. That will come in handy in future planned crazy tours :) Thanks so much and greetings from us :)
WOW, what a fascinating experience. I want to thank your friend for getting you access to show this location. So lucky to see the guard positions, what a privilege. Thank you and EE so much for this opportunity to see something not many people would get the chance to. Take care and keep smiling my friends.
The reason for these empty 'halls' is that they were a part of the protection. If you leave empty cavities in the roof, bombs will explode partly in empty air and release the pressure. It's cheaper to make than having a solid concrete.
Incredible honor to have accompanied you and EE into the submarine pen. Your friend is very generous to take you in there and allow you to film. Looks totally different when you are down at the bottom of the pen looking upwards.
Until 1995, a submarine bunker in Hamburg's Vulkanhafen harbour still housed three submarines. They were largely cannibalised by the British and then the bunker was to be blown up. However, this did not work out as planned. The structure was too massive. Sand was then filled in in 1995. At the beginning of the 2000s, the remains were blown up again with moderate success and then further demolished. Today, the entire volcanic harbour has been filled in and a car park has been built on the buried bunker remains along with the submarines.
I was in that bunker, Elbe 2, before the sand and demolition. I had interviewed Gerhard Thater, the skipper of the one with the bunker section fallen on its tower. I took a lot of pictures and shot video. One of these days I will edit them together and post them here.
HH, please pass on to your friend how grateful we all are, for guiding you guys through this amazing structure, and allowing us all the privilege to see what very few have ever seen. And most especially to see such rare sights, as the corner guard position, and the whole sub pen from the bottom, the top, and, the dry dock gate. I doubt very few have ever seen it all like this, and very, very, few have ever seen the guard post , or been able to play with the shutters! Thank you both for taking the time, and effort, to share this incredible location with us. Hoepfully, the developers nver get their way, and this structure remains as it it, so be seen by many future History Hunters for a long time yet. Cheers to you both!
This had to be super special for an old submariner like yourself! That facility is amazing, and it was only one of several wow! Thanks to you, EE and especially your friend for taking us on this explore!
Hitler built this for his thousand years Reich. He meant for it to last. Even with the workers working fast to finish it, it is still standing. It’s a testament to the impressive work of people of this time. I wonder if the square cutouts in the walls were attachment point for equipment to build this huge structure? I do hope developers don’t get their way and try to destroy this historical site. Thanks to your friend for allowing you to share this amazing site.
Wow! Absolutely incredible, thank you for taking us on such incredible experiences! Please keep up your incredible work of finding everything and showing it to the rest of us! Thanks
What an amazing position! I'm so glad you had an awesome friend who gave you access to this place. The guard tower is really something wonderful to see!❤
My father was a merchant marine Ship Captain. The U Boats never hit his ship when on convoy. He wanted to be a fighter pilot but he was stuck being a Captain on a ship. Later he got a new ship and spent the rest of the war in the Pacific.I spent my life at sea never wanted to do anything else. Seeing your shows are great I enjoy them all. When I was young I spent months at Dutchharbor it was in 1960 the Navy left everything when they left after the war. I remember the submarine base there I would explore all of the old military positions on the Island. It was still mined in some places so you had to stay out. When I was fishing and doing salvage work I worked with men that were in the German military as well as for the allies. Everyone got along well they were part of history and it was a privilege to know them all.
Those square cutouts that were visible on the exterior of the structure run the span of the building. Their intention is to absorb shockwaves caused by bombing raids. The shockwaves caused by ordinance detonating on top of or above a building that travel through the structure usually cause more damage to the integrity of the structure than the intial explosion itself. These open chambers suppressed shockwaves and substantially lessened them as they traveled down through the structure. The Germans were among the first to implement this system of safe guards into their construction, which is the main reason aerial bombing runs were unsuccessful against these sub pens. The allies made attemps to use "skipping" torpedoes to target these pens, but even those were marginally unsuccessful as well. It is truly an amazing video, and i really appreciate you sharing it with us! Thank you for all your hard work. Greetings from the USA!
It wasn't until you and EE went down the stairs to the bottom of the pen that I really got a sense of the size of this place. Amazing that you received permission to tour the place and were able to document it!!! That gate folds!!! Crazy!! Pics of the U-Boats in the place was great to see. Top corner visitor and the shutter moved!! Awesome! What a huge area for storage and workshops! Soldier footprints in the concrete from the construction who probably were watching over the workers as they put n the concrete, set forever for us to see! Great stuff!!

Thank your friend for allowing us to experience that humongous German WW2 Feistel defensive location. That is beyond insane. Can't even imagine the time spent designing and constructing those intricate concrete structures. Yes, just imagine what they would have looked like back in the day. Thanks for the photos so we can envision. Those steel iron boot imprints were something to see. Definitely, looked like they were in a hurry to complete. You could go on and on in that one building. Brings back memories for you HH having been a sub sonar operator. Another dream came true for EE. How exciting is that. Thank you HH and EE. Stay safe. 💕

I live in Sweden and work with heat-pumps, i was to a new customer to install a heat-pump and was amazed of the building, it was a large villa next to the sea and everything was made of concrete, the construction looked like the U-boat bunker, and when I asked about the former owner i was told that the guy was from Ukraine and had been building U-boat bunkers in Germany in the second world war!
I love your explore video! That place is massive! 😮 Camera doesn't do it justice! Just subbed! 😎 Wish I could do this but I am disabled and poor! From Oklahoma with love! 💙👍
Amazing video, as always! Thanks for sharing! A friend and I went to the largest U-boat facility of Germany: the Valentin submarine factory in Bremen. You are so totally right that it is hard to imagine how large the building really is. So impressive! And so amazing you were able to see all the secrets. That guard tower in the top corner… wow, just wow! Thanks so much for sharing!
Fascinating to see this! May 6, 1945 the last German U-Boat (or 2nd to last) U-853 was sunk off the coast here in Rhode Island. All 55 crew members are still in the hull with the exception of 1 which some recreational diver decided to bring up. It was built in Bremen in yard number 1059

That was so great that your friend was able to get you so much access inside of the U-boat pen. It was so amazing to see all those areas especially the guard tower area. I can see why the video was so long with all that there was to cover there. Definitely a fun one to watch. So sad that it can possibly be gone in a decade due to development! P.S. Don't blame you for wanting to take the Kriegsmarine U-boat sailor's uniform item to the grave. What a great thing to have and how wonderful it was for that family to give it to you.

Such a fantastic explore and a great follow up to a previous video to actually have a friend to let you come inside and make it come full circle ! And fulfill your dream of seeing the inside of the guard tower section too ! Because of your past service as a submariner to show your son about this must be really exciting to share with him . I also found these before as well . I wonder if on your "Off time" you and EE went Bowling and had some fun too lol . Love it , and hope all is well my friends !
wicked sub Penn. shame it isn't being used for a museum. I hear the excitement in you and it makes me feel good for what you do.😉wish i could do an adventure with you guys :)
I went to the massive bunker in Bremen when I lived in Germany back in 2018 and snuck into an off limits area. There was still a bunch of contruction debris left there from the end of the war just thrown into a pile. Cool to see. You should go there.
I would love to see how they set the blocks to support the u-boats, and how they used the upper floors for , Thank for the tour of this fascinating facility HH And EE.
I was in Italy and went to a big port used by their military the scale was something else like you experienced, those buildings were designed to withstand a lot and have stood the test of time for sure.
Hiya HH team 👋🏻🫵🏻🫵🏻👍🏻👍🏻👋🏻 I’ve said it before but…..WOW WOW WOWZA 😮 Thank you for bringing us to an amazing place guys! I’d liked to have seen over the other side of the submarine pen gate on the water side, so you can see how high it is compared to the dry dock. Awesomeness HH & EE 👍🏻👍🏻 See you soon 🇬🇧🫶🏻🇳🇴
Well we really loved to be there ad EE got one of his dreams come through and you helped to make that come true. Thanks my friend and greetings from us :)
Awesome video once again. This video is so much better than watching a documentary on television. With you and Eagle Eyes we get the Raw action right here and now feeling. Great work to you both, I love it. If the Germans built it, you know it will be very Awesome Very Cool and last for a very very very long time.
G'day from an ex australian submariner engineering, fascinating the build capabilities of the German Kreigsmarine to support their submarines, Karl definately had skills but eventually we all know the history the sad loss of all the brave men that servered in submarines that lost their lives for their country as a fellow ex submariner great respect to you as a brother in Unterseeboot
I always enjoy your videos. It's so encouraging to see how EE is growing and learning at your side. I can agree that the Germans had brilliant engineers, and often good designs. But as a U.S. citizen of 72 years, my Father fought in WWII against the Axis powers. Please keep in mind that many of us have family members that were wounded or died in the conflict. My Uncle Corwin was shot down and killed in a bombing run over Germany. When I think of the enslavement of thousands and thousands of workers, the many death camps & the Holocaust; I just can't be so enthusiastic at what they built. But I always learn from your videos, and I appreciate that.
Guard corner was pretty basic but effective for MG34 and MG42's I was hoping you would go up there and you did, it takes a curious man to investigate what's behind a wall or door. In some ways the U Bunker is like a Veste with openings for shooting arrows from many angles. The war was a proving ground for German ingenuity.
Those indentations which were seen in the side walls could be where one put lengths or wooden or steel props to shore up the boat and make it steady ? Great video 📹 and many thanks to your friend who made this possible.
Thanks

Thank you I love history and would love to see this myself; probably never will, but thanks to you I got to see it

Your best video yet.
Well i would say we have hundreds of good videos. Thanks.
Love it , and hope all is well my friends !
yes such a great explore. Yes we do have tons of fun out there and even played bowling :) Thanks my friend :)

the excitement in you and it makes me feel good for what you do.😉wish i could do an adventure with you guys :)
I went to the massive bunker in Bremen when I lived in Germany back in 2018 and snuck into an off limits area. There was still a bunch of contruction debris left there from the end of the war just thrown into a pile. Cool to see. You should go there.
Thanks for watching.
I would love to see how they set the blocks to support the u-boats, and how they used the upper floors for , Thank for the tour of this fascinating facility HH And EE.
Thank YOU for being here :)

I was in Italy and went to a big port used by their military the scale was something else like you experienced, those buildings were designed to withstand a lot and have stood the test of time for sure.
i see and thanks for watching :)
Great video ty
Thanks for watching.
Hiya HH team 👋🏻🫵🏻🫵🏻👍🏻👍🏻👋🏻
I’ve said it before but…..WOW WOW WOWZA 😮
Thank you for bringing us to an amazing place guys!
I’d liked to have seen over the other side of the submarine pen gate on the water side, so you can see how high it is compared to the dry dock.
Awesomeness HH & EE 👍🏻👍🏻
See you soon
🇬🇧🫶🏻🇳🇴
Well we really loved to be there ad EE got one of his dreams come through and you helped to make that come true. Thanks my friend and greetings from us :)
Awesome video once again. This video is so much better than watching a documentary on television. With you and Eagle Eyes we get the Raw action right here and now feeling. Great work to you both, I love it. If the Germans built it, you know it will be very Awesome Very Cool and last for a very very very long time.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing history Hunter that was a great trip a blast from the past two thumbs up👍👍 say hello to Eagle eyes
Appreciated and EE says hello here.
Loved the explore and thanks for comment and for watching.
So cool amazing
Thanks from us :)
We thank you for sharing and be very proud of your father. We appreciate you being here and it is a honor to share with you.
It was a fantastic opportunity and we loved to share that with you :)
Those indentations which were seen in the side walls could be where one put lengths or wooden or steel props to shore up the boat and make it steady ? Great video 📹 and many thanks to your friend who made this possible.
could be yes. Thanks for watching.
👉Should Be Kept As Historical👈
💡& Turned Into A WWII Museum💡
