I can't imagine a more glowing endorsement of a motor than your maniacal giggles.
lol I could never play poker!!
The giggles says it all.
Holmes makes the best motors
Your channel is always awesome , love the course and all the content.
Thanks!
Silky smooth startup.
I can't wait until mine shows up with the brxl
When the video starts off with a giggle you know it's gonna be good 👍👍👊
LOL I could never play poker
A buddy of mine got me to buy a HH motor finally. I got the black and red can 8t 550 motor 5 slot. I ain't gunna lie it sounds like a big block with cherry bombs hahab especially when going slow hahha added sound makes it scale. I love HH motors now. Went from a mamba x 3800kv system to brushed again.
I love how they epoxy balance 👍 so nice. I wish they they would make a serious bashing brushless motor i bet it would be amazing!
He has a few long can brushless motors, I'm out of sensored motors at the moment so I may see if I can order more of his for tests and projects.
That has made that truck amazing
I just put in a stubby 11t magnum and holy crap!!! The most drag brake I have ever experienced! It’s top shelf for sure.
awesome what did you put it in?
Exocaged RC a gspeed v3 element conversion! Kinda like your comp rail redcat. Nice motor for a nice chassis.
What tooth pinion did you end up using @super Motard
@@oldblueeyes3322 10t pinion in a tgh 2low trans
Wow. What's more awesome, having a beautiful masterpiece or getting a magnum from Mr Holmes himself? 🎂🍴
I gotta say I'm happier with this combo from him than I have ever been with a brushless.
@@ExocagedRC Something about direct contact when dealing with electrical by theory is gonna out do brushless. Even a trailmaster feels better IMO. Now for speed thats a whole different ballgame
Holmes is a mad genius! 😈
Yep!!
I love your truck.....
But here in Montréal there are only a few like me that are in crawler...my gen8 is a a good compremize
I have a tone of goodies....next it will run on a new motor....Thank a lot to make me decide what to buy.....
Haven't had a brushed motor since my Trinity days Joel Johnson and such 👊🏾nice run.
Joel Johnson. Wow I haven’t heard that name in many years
@@ExocagedRC yeah bro we had a carpet and dirt track over in cburg named dads day off in the early 90's that's where I picked up my first Traxxas it was the Sledgehammer 💪🏾
@@mikep.9338 yeah you just dated yourself on that one. lol
@@lischultz14 Bahahaha ikr👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Awsome motor awsome video
that was the best Nasty Crawl i have ever seen.......WOW oh WOW!!!!
Me too, I've NEVER completed it that easy before.
That magnum motor is just damn good I run two 16t and they are nuts
I almost got the 16t, are they fast as well?
@@ExocagedRC I use them in a wraith 1.9 and my trx sport and they are more than enough, speed wise it's faster than my walk, and the capra has a 20t to keep that high ration in check. But that instant punch is nuts even the 20t they spin wheels
Good vid mr exo! But question is for Robert if u dnt mind srry but what is ur trx4 sport geared at spur and pinion with the magnum motor? Thxs.. keep up tha awesome wrk mr exo!!
Most people would just say "drop a brushless system into it" but those people probably have never experienced the smoothness of a quality hand wound brushed motor either.
Man i need one of these in my life cuz i dont want to go brushless with my trx sport i got the 21 turn from holmes but that thing looks amazing im going tonsave my pennies
Wow Joe that magnum is an animal 💪💪
yes sir it sure is!!
@@ExocagedRC 150 is a heafty price but seems well worth it I prefer the feel of a brushed set up over brushless I just haven't been able to bring myself to pay that much for a motor that's going to have to be rebuilt but watching this video is about to make me dig deep in my pocket 😂🤣👍💯
I miss the thunderstorms sounds born in ok and moved to Southern California not much rain here
We get it almost every day during the summer months.
Nice video amigo
About time Joe. After you mentioned it...I was waiting on the video. Hahaha.
That's just BEAUTIFUL!!!
That'd make a Revolver /Puller Pro fan go back to brushed.
Notice the very slight over-lap on the armatures.
Quality is freaky....hence the price.
Is it me or did that burst of throttle on the rocks seem like the motor overpowered the slipper?
You're definitely a hell-of-a better driver than you were a few years ago...and doing it one handed. Hahaha
Love your enthusiasm.
Hahaha
Thank you and yeah I had only hear people talk about these motors but never wanted to pay the price for it. I'm glad I did!!! Its possible it slipped the slipper, there are no springs on it, just a plastic spacer but its possible. This motor will stay in here for sure. Thanks on the driving comment, I drive a lot of trucks one handed and sometimes going from a UDR to a crawler within an hour being totally different can take a few minutes to adjust.
What gearing would you sugest starting at. Im running trx4 sport 1.9 wheels and do all rock crawl no jumping or bashing. i run all brushless but want to build one and run brushed
A grown man should never have a higher pitch giggle than a my 4 yr old daughter
JRH makes some sick motors, I have a pair of his custom handwounds and they are smoooooooooth..! Skewed armatures are bitchin!!! :]
Hm, kind of curious how this would do in a non solid axle vehicle with a bit less torque focused gear ratio's like say a tamiya tt02b or similar.
Also watch the temperatures on that motor neo magnets don't like too much heat + it being brushed I'd imagine it would heat up quite a bit.
Axe with the punch setting to max I feel like will be equivalent. Love my Axe. Every HH motor I've had has kicked the bucket. Good video though Joe. MAGA 2020
Looks like I have a new motor for my new 10iii build
I don't compete, and I'm not into braggadocious pissing contests( I lack a fellow aficionado/friend to do so with). But if my budget allowed I'd upgrade to one of these in my Capra, or TRX-4, or Bomber(or all three) in a heartbeat. Holm's hobbies should link this video to his UA-cam video as well as his webpage on this particular motor.
about a year ago I was all brushless or nothing, but I've found out these brushed motors are no joke!!! Truly epic motors!!
What esc are you running?
Good morning... I've heard amazing things.... Oh baby...
Can Holmes Hobbies Motors be used with Factory ESC like the trx4 xl5 hv
Hey Exo. I have a capra 4ws stock drive train. I upgraded my esc to a qiucrun 1080. I am currently running 2.2 tires.I mainly crawl and need slow speed torque with a punch if I need it. Could you please recommend a brushed motor for me. Thank you in advance
I think maybe this might be the ticket for my TRX4 Sport over dropping $230 on a brushless 550 setup. Seems more torque and smoothness than the Axe
Its awesome but I'd highly recommend the Crawmaster Pro 550 10t for the TRX truck
Exocaged RC yeah I’d be interested in the difference between the Crawlmaster Pro vs. Sport 550 10T. 80% more cost for the pro
Witch ESC are you using with that Magnum…?
Now we know who 'Mr Giggles' is.
That runs so smooth with such great low rpm response and control. Did you say what ESC you paired it with?
BRXL from Holmes Hobbies I believe.
Yeah BRXL ESC
Should my void warranty the recommend taking theirs brushless motor apart and cleaning them when in mud or water
Trying to get some recommendation for running the 9 turn magnum stubby in my element build. The smallest pinion size i can find is a 13 tooth 48p. Going to be running 3 and 4s. Just curious if its small enough to keep it cool our you would recommend it.
With the magnum you may want a few teeth more on that.
@@ExocagedRC maybe 15 or 16tooth?
I was interested in this 11t Magnum for my Basecamp. I was wondering if you had and recommendations for a stock Basecamp?
What is the best budget motor for a 8lbs rig my crawl master sport with the 1080esc dosen't have enough drag break on steep descents it doesn't roll fast but I would like more would the crawl master expert handle it better
you'll need to make sure its a 550 size, obviously the better motor you can get will give more drag brake, keep in mind they all will slowly drift down no matter what brushed motor you choose. The only system that can stop smoothly and completely hold is the Hobbywing Axe.
@@ExocagedRC ok that puts it more in perspective. I didn't know they would still roll and will definitely be upgrading. Thank you so much and I appreciate you actually answering my questions. Most everyone else seems to busy to help. And as soon as the world gets back to normal I plan to join as a member
So, what did you change gearing wise to put this in so you didn't burn up the motor? I know it's not the same gearing probably as the SCX-10III (just built, smoking 2 motors so far), but doesn't that kind of gearing (including the portal reduction) wreak havoc on these type of speedy motors?
11t pinion. It’s a 5slot so it’s not as fast as you may think. I’ve got them quite warm, almost hot but they take it well.
@@ExocagedRC I don't mind slow, just want to use it, and not smoke motors and the esc to shut off. I have plenty of speed in my Wraith Spawn (Trailmaster Pro 3800kv/Mamba X).
What jack stands are those
Careful with the neo magnets, it’s easily crack and break..
well I was trying to not let things smack into the can if thats what you're referring to
Exocaged RC ya especially when u remove the can in the vid..😁
do you break in your motors be for installing
No sir. When I had this one open you could see where it was tested so I just put in right in.
I just got online and the 11t is the only one available. Is that why you got it? I love wheel speed also so I’m not doggin you, but I am curious. I honestly want as much wheel speed as possible just because I like to move just like you do.
When I ordered mine I was able to choose, I went with the 11t because I need wheelspeed from time to time and my experience with the 8t Crawlmaster Sport 550 was very good so it was an easy choice for me.
What ESC your running with this motor ?
Holmes BRXL
Gotta see the speed on the trx4 in 2nd gear!!!!!!!!!!
Have you ever tested their revolver series?
Yeah in the past, they are awesome motors but insanely loud on camera
Exocaged RC sound like a bunch of pissed off bees 😂
Good replacement for a Bomber???
No, not suitable for that, if you want to throw down money on a brushed motor for the bomber I'd go brushless, this motor is about $160 and for about $200 you can get a mamba X 3800kv motor and be way way better off.
How do you think this’ll work in a trx4 sport?? Since it’s a 540
probably run well but I'd go with the Crawlmaster Pro 10t 550 size, $100 so its about $60 less and a better fit for the TRX
Exocaged RC about the same speed🤷🏼♂️
Yeah about the same
Does the crawlmaster magnum 11t run warmer?
Yeah it does run a bit warm. Holmes will tell you it’s a competition motor and not a basher motor.
Thanks for the info. Btw, how many minutes do you run your magnum?
Wat size rims and tyers do you have on here
1.9 beadlock wheels and 4.75" Jconcepts Landmine tires, there are links in the description to get them if you want
Whare can i get that motor?
Forgive me for this stupid question..
Does fewer "turns" give more torque?
Fewer turns means more rpm.
@@mattconnelly9889 oh ok thank you very much Matt!! :)
Nice answer Matt, 100% correct, also to add, fewer turns also tend to pull more amps.
@@ExocagedRC Much thanks Mr. Exocage!!
Can I build a truck just like this? If so can I get some info on where a parts list
Yes you sure can. All you need is a Capra kit and a chassis from spare time hobbies. Look in the description for a link to the chassis and Optimus bundle.
Exocaged RC thanks bud thanks for the info and help. Sweet build. Also how you get it to turn like that? Will the kit just happen to have a great turning radius
hi, will i be able to run this magnum stubby motor paired with HW1080 esc?
Yep
@@ExocagedRC okay thanks. How about the revolver v3? Can i pair it with Quicrun wp 10BL60?
Will that motor fit motor fit in the scx10 iii?
any 540 will bolt in, 550's may require removale of the pulley stuff at the front.
how many T fit in the scx10iii?
What body is that and who makes it? i always loved flat fendered Willy's trucks
JConcepts Creep body. There are links in the description for it
@@ExocagedRC Thank you sir
Cant imagine the marbles required to take the new motor apart immediately.
In the end it’s just parts and pieces.
does anyone else make a brushed motor with those magnets ?
What ESC??
Got it thanks
Still out of stock! Dammmm
Don’t ya mean That’s a “383” stroker Lol Yeah. I’m a car guy. & that old
Mine was a 414 stroker in a 351w block. bored and stroked with about 10-1 compression. mean little motor. The 383 is a legendary motor build for sure.
@@ExocagedRC In my 67 Fastback I have an aluminum 351 Dark block all put together by Keith Craft at Unique Performance. They built the Eleanor Motors for Carroll Shelby. They called the motor The 427 Special. But they punched it out to 440. It was the top small block before going to an FE Bigblock on the GT500....well there were like four or five small blocks.
The top two was mine with a single 950 Quickfuel carb or with four Webers. Because I wanted to run a 1970 Boss 302 Shaker Air cleaner I went with the four barrel.
They had or still have a 385 series 460 stroked to 514. In all honesty I should've went with that motor.
But the small block runs hard. I have a good front-to-back weight ration and it dynoed at 600hp/580tq and weighs 3100 pounds.
Funny thing...horsepower isn't everything...I still love the 303/342 Stroker I put in there before the Keith motor. It matched my driving skill better and was extremely reliable...it made 430hp/430tq.
Ours was a 540 for the jet boat we had many years ago. Good (but crap in your pants) times!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Exocaged RC Lol. Lort. I couldn’t afford them big block builds. Lol. They’re a more nasty beast. Lol. If ya can afford to build them. But on another note ..Man ,That new Holmes motor sure does sound good tho. Lol Definitely unique. It’s the first time Ive saw it ran.
These motors are top quality. But you'd think for the price they would put it in a little bit better of a package.
Exactly was just thinking that
HOW MUCH THAT MOTOR RUN YA? -ANSWERED MY OWN QUESTION. 150$.
LoL yeah not cheap
@@ExocagedRC YEA LOL, NO DOUBT. I WAS QUITE SHOCKED TO SEE THE PRICE! THEY DEFINITELY HAV THAT LOW END CONTROLABILITY THO THAT BRUSHLESS CANT CONTEND WITH.
Yeah; you either need to have a serious justification or money is simply the least of your problems. For the rest of us, the $20 Traxxas Titan motors need to suffice.
There is no sound
Silent? Really?
I’ve got sound
@@ExocagedRC I don't know what was going on it's working now. That motor seams amazing I might have to go buy one for my comp truck. Holmes sponsors some of the guys I compete with.
It's a 396 Chevy, not 393...just sayin'.
I dont understand why you would want a fast motor in a crawler. Kind of defeats the purpose
