    Some comments!
    Higher quality ingredients can slow a motor down. More torque, more drag brake, lower turn count for same speed. As evidenced by the 10t sport being slower than the 14t reedy.
    The sport motor had better "hold" brake due to drill balancing. The Pro will start up smoother and slower, but the tradeoff is less static hold.
    The pro would shine more when loaded down more, as you guessed. It has about twice the torque of the sport, but more than twice the price.
    Price to value ratio, I would also call it in the favor of the Sport!

      I think the crawlmaster pro would've been a better comparison to the reedy or the crawlmaster sport if it were a 550 can as opposed to the 540 can that you used in this video

      I ran a HH trailmaster 27t sport for 3 years and beat it like it owed me money, ran it in mud and water and all i ever did was spray it out with wd40 once a blue moon and it was still going strong when I lost the rig. You make GREAT motors!

      sapo, I did a test with the TRX 21t vs the CM 12t, the speeds are about identical but the CM 12 was the better choice. If you want more speed go with the 10t or even the 8t. the CM motors have 5 slots so the effective KV output is lower than a 3slot motor.

    Now here my trouble, i'm looking for THE ideal brushed motor, but i thought the more the T the slowest it is, then 27T/35T would be the way to go for pure crawling. But in you videos (and in the comments), seems everyone's loving this series of 10T, and to be honnest technically i don't really get it.

      hey buddy, these ar 5-slot motors, so the are about 1/2 the speed of a 3-slot normal motor, this is why they work so well. Basically you put 3 shots of power in a 3 slot to get one revolution but it take 5 shots of power to get the same revolution so its slower and start up is usually smoother. Hope that helps

    And you've just opened the Pandora's box...because next is the big debate between brushed and brushless.
    In this video its obvious to see the difference between a generic can and the propose built ones. Not only in performance but in build quality as well. No questions here. But regardless of the motor, if the ESC is also generic, common sense dictates that, only by swapping the can, the performance gain is residual...at best.
    Hence, first swap the ESC and then the motor. So no huge deal.
    My problem here is when brushless comes to play.
    As you know, there are those who are fanatics for brushed and those who swear that brushless combos are the next big thing after the invention os sliced bread.
    Videos on this subject are immense, but most of the time, you end up with more questions than answers.
    I would love to see what's your opinion and advice on this...and since ECTO is still on the bench... I think you get the point.
    Thanks a lot for another great video.
    Keep them coming!
    Cheers mate!!!

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  3 роки тому +3

      Well, yeah this is debated, I also went through the brushless is everything and brushed sucks phase, as I get deeper into the hobby I see brushed is still a very competent setup. I like the Crawlmaster Magnums as I have 2, one in Optimus 3 and one in Myolnir and they have tons of power and control. In crawlers, brushless is still usually more efficient and more powerful and they usually require less maintenance. If I did a lot of wet mud runs, I'd be brushless for sure. Now I have brushless and brushed crawlers of all kinds of ranges. For a trail truck it will be brushless and the better I get at driving down low and really crawling, the more I like brushed. Not sure if that helps any but that's some of my thoughts on the subject.

    Running "pro" style motors on a trail truck is a waste of money. Motors without a fan are not a good fit for trail use. With no fan, the motor gets hot and stays hot. Not a big deal on a competition crawler with a time limit, but a multi hour trail session will cook a fancy "pro" motor.

    Swapping to a 10T Crawlmaster Sport in my Gen8 totally changed the rig for the better...even with the stock ESC. Holmes definitely got the formula right with the Sport line. I have been eyeballing the Pro as an upgrade for the sake of upgrading, but this review makes me think I should just hold off for a Revolver and the new Crawlmaster ESC instead.

      I just recorded the Crawlmaster mini esc and an 1800 revolver in the Ecto. Man I like it!

    i cant beleive you can buy a really good brushed motor for 1/10 crawler for the same or even less $ than a mediocre brushed motor for a 1/24 crawler

    • @romper4444
      @romper4444 2 роки тому

      It's just the production volume of the runs of motors they make for that size is so smaller that it costs more to produce them. 1/24 scale crawling is a niche market and it will come and go in popularity pretty quickly.

      @@joshrichie9833 You still haven't answered why you won't use another Holmes product.
      Seems a bit silly to get a non waterproof servo wet, then blame the seller because you didn't use it correctly.
