I remember the song wow it was a big hit on New York radio I don't remember seeing this episode but those guys were playing live that was not a pre-recorded tape and their live version is very exciting and energetic thanks for the video upload
They canty make music like this anymore the brilliant part of this is the guy on the left of the singer is Jimmy Hart the wrestling manager from mid south and the wwf days lol
I remember watching this next day only the cool boy's was talking about the Band then a few girls came over n started talking Pop rock & roll and I fell so in love with girl's especially rock & roll girls ❤
I was a little kid in south texas watching this on our FIRST TV ever.......used to listen on the radio to it....but never knew what they looked like till TV set was bought.....I went crazy with my older sister hopping around the living room........keep on dancing
6/16/2020 Cool GIBSON bass, popular model in those years. And, a now legendary early days Rickenbacker. They had the best "vintage gear" at that time, though it wasn't vintage then.
I saw the Gentrys at a high school dance in 1963 or 1964 in Yazoo City, Mississippi. I was from 30 miles away. The Gentrys were from Memphis or somewhere.
I thought it was a nice touch that the Hullabaloo dance troupe did not feature male dancers who were taller than the female dancers. It always works best when they are all of about the same height.
And the dancers were integrated. Actual African Americans dancing with white people. I’m sure ther were people in the South who went berserk over this. And probably more than a few up North.
This is the 1960s I will choose to remember; A group of youngsters that made it big from a little pop song. Not a bunch of naked hippies dancing while on lsd.
No, pretty Teri Garr was a dancer on Shindig. Shindig had it all over Hullabaloo. Watch them both. BTW, this live version is just a little bit faster that the original. Just fast enough to make it hard to dance to. Watch the GOOD Shindig version (2:22 minutes long)

I saw the Gentry’s in 1968 and my brother told me I bet in 50 years from now people be listening to this and I thought he was crazy!

me hubiera gustado vivir esa época maravillosa!!! la canción está muy bonita!!
They are so young and sweet. Love the shy smiles☺
I turned 13 on this date. Nice memories. Thank You. "The Gunny."

I second the motion. It is nice to hear it live instead of "canned".
Nice to hear them singing it live.
This song was perfect for dancing the Pony!

The place where this groovy studio was is now a small shopping area in Hollywood
Says it all. Doesn't get any better.

Jimmy Hart the Mouth of the South from WWF days
First version was by the Avanti‘s on Argo label
They speeded it up; dancing at this speed is more like it convulsion. I remember that song well.
All right playing live no lip-synching good
Great song then and now!
The original go go boots. Shorter and not as tight around the leg.
Yes!!👍👍
All that and Terri Garr go-go dancing!
Although Teri was a dancer, that's not her.
those were the good ole' days !! Find me a time machine !!🙂 🤗 👍
If you find that time machine hope i get a ticket back.
Is that George Maharis? He is looking GOOD.

This version is slighty different in the melody right? More sped up or something? I can't find another gentrys upload that sounds like this one.
They definitely sped up the tempo from the record.
The whole show is on speed. Cray cray
In '65 I was 10, and these guys were cool.
i dont remember the route 66 episode where Buzz hosts shindig
Those were the days😊😊😊
I see that fabulous "Nitty Gritty" dancer Bobby Bana.
Bobby always livens up the scene.
Ajajajj!!! De azért imádom!
Not enough light has been shone on American Garage Rock and Roll.
I think I see Eric Burdon of The Animals in front just to the right of the band (to the left on the screen).

Two days earlier, the Great Blackout ‘65 had hit the East Coast at 5:27pm EST
Short but great
How good was that!!!
My favorite dancer was the blonde go go girl on the left. Live singing.
Sorry Hullabaloo Dancers were fat bimbos compared to he Whisky a GoGo Garribaldi dancers
Imádom !!!😺😎🙃🕺💃
live! great.
Brilliant 7" !!!!!!!
drummer was like "lets kill these dancers"
The dances of the Sixties were inspired by the Charleston dance of the Twenties. When the moves and the music of the 60's produced the GOGO dancers.
Too bad about the video stretched too far horizontally to fit on the wide screen, so every body is too wide body.
The blond on the dance floor is Teri Garr
No. She was on “Shindig”.
those girls wearing go go boots? I think I had some when i was 4 or 5

At 0:18 that guys pants are giving him a wedgie. Those r some tight pants.
Nice rear, and he was hot! 👍
יש להם ביצוע יותר טוב שלהם לשיר הזה שבביצועם. זה טיפה מהיר מידי ופחות משכנע לטעמי. ההוא, אדיר יותר ועם רגש הרבה יותר!!!!
love Patrick Arriarte doing the jerk at 1:17
Which one is the mouth of the south? I can’t tell.
THE MOUTH OF THE SOUTH OR THE CORONEL JIMMY HART.
Wait so a go go and hullabaloo were the same show?
Was that the show in which Teri Garr was one of the dancers?
Memphis finest;
Hated this show because they always had the dorky dancers in front of the bands who we wanted to see.
George somebody?
Was that Jimmy Hart or Howard Wolowitz?
Which one is Jimmy Hart?
Show me how you work, EHHRR twerk, this was literallary ahead of it's time

The 60's really were the Golden Age.

No, our current culture is lame as shit.
