Old AC racing was great ... New ships racing likely last AC against Luna rossa was super interesting! Tactical more difference to use, likely slowing down from luna rossa and so faster with all! New Zealand was thinking great with new foiling AC! More spectacle racing likely in auckland AC36 was ❤️. Oracle changing was also nice, catamaran racing was also ❤️ Some still want old AC back, but AC must developing, that's the right way
it was a more romantic and human regatta, boats that even though evolved still had an ancestral navigation bond and approach , much more tactics, crossings, taking the wind away from the opponent, change the sails, many more emotions now they look like spaceships with a sail and inside do cycling, start at full speed and end of the story
Angelous Bacon 3 out of 6? That's a higher ratio of sailors than the ICAC crews! I've raced at premier level in NZ and also happen to own a jet boat! What's your point?
Angelous Bacon I'll say it again! Hydrodynamics has nothing to do with Sailing. Calling me a fuckwit? Wouldn't you rather talk tactics and design? Fuck you. The point is foiling isn't the point! In fact foil design has been a staple in the AC since the 60s. Real sailors aren't talking about foiling but rather the implementation of hydraulics instead of man power resulting in one touch winching and trimming. Moving oil as opposed to grinding for line tension is overlooked because people are bewildered by flight and boat speed. You wanna talk sailing you fuckface?
Merci pour cette vidéo, pour un terriens de la campagne qui adore la voile mais par sa situation géographique ne peut malheureusement la pratique tout les jours. ..j'adore. !
Amazing to be reminded of what AC racing looked like before the introduction of multihulls and foiling monohulls. And yeh, I’d sooner watch trad / non-foiling monohulls race than foilers, any day. To the haters, welcome to the world of human preferences 😂
It’s all those exciting dial ups - the boats sitting stationary next to each other for tense minutes on end before the start - then the long long drag race on starboard for 10 minutes. I know what you mean but I’d rather watch the ac75s hitting cover tacks at 40 knots the LV cup final was epic, looking forward to ineos vs etnz… as you say, personal differences
What a load of BS (and delusional thinking). Some of us who have raced trad sailing dinghies & keel yachts prefer watching trad / non-foiling yacht racing. Nothing amazing or outlandish about that.
They cannot imagine how much I miss real sailing races for the America's Cup, now they have these things flying on vertical wings and struts skimming across the water and if that isn't fast enough for them I heard at my club that jet engines will be used to create wind in the next cup races - so why not just throw away all pretenses of sailing and admit that what they really want is the Reno Air Races.
I was on the water that day and in fact spotted the boat I was on in the video. Great experience ..
I miss the pre-start shenanigans that must have been hellishly tense in those beasts!
they brought that back

As a sailor, I much prefer this to the current AC75s.

This is how the Americas cup should be.
Sailing is sailing. Foiling is sailing.
Flying a kite is flying a kite.
Yeah the good old days looks more competitive
So different to the current boats and racing I love the new type boat its like chalk and cheese or more like Moto GP
Way more interesting to watch.
Ah, back in the day when tha americas cup involved actual sailing!! And im sure pete montgomery could make a light rainshower exciting!!
Define sailing?
Angelous Bacon hydrodynamics has nothing to do with sailing champ...

So the current ones are not sailing ? Spokem like someone who has never sailed.
It WAS a beautifull races
Go kiwi . Hope next regatta is as much fun for all
Go kiwi.
Upmost respect for prada
Real sailing please come back
When America's Cup was a race between two boat.
These boats are beautiful, but seem impossibly slow and lumbering now compared to the modern hydrofoiling ones.
Wow! You and I see the world through different eyes.

2:38 no harm to both boats no foul
How slow these boats were .. like dinosaurs
NZ has pretty speed advantage in downwind.
Really enjoying these videos. I keep thinking about how this will look when they are foiling 😳😳😳
Amazing.
The commentator has it.....”time to kill....”
""" Was a cool yacht ; NZL-60 ..
Stephen Kelpe reminds me of the movie Winds... nice boats!
I quit watching AC when it ceased being about monohull racing.
Good for you
This is the real and only AC!!!...NO FOIL!!!
Good times with dial up, mechanical winches, tons of tackings...summarising: times of real sailboats!

Best Americas cup in Auckland
Were these boats cheaper than today's flying machines?

Non si sa cosa va sempre storto....
Si ma con in equipaggio non Svizzero e comprato in Nuova Zelanda………
Every comment on here: ‘I miss these boats.. this is ‘real’ sailing’; from noobs who have never sailed before
Yeah love the i hate foiling these were rhe best comments. On every vid. Noobs.
This is undeniably better racing

some of us still race on fast 80 footers and 100 footers…. and who the fuck is you???
How Bertarelli waa able to challange in the first place was a joke. Rules state challenger must be located on the sea. Geneva is on a lake.
I think you are getting confused with Alinghi in 2003.
Prada Challenge was racing under the Yacht Club Punta Ala, in Tuscany.

PARA Trooper also GET OFF MY LAWN!
Ac has always been about tech.
These Yachts were true beauties though
Para , I agree I love this type of sailing , what is your opinion of the "mule " hulls ?
I was just watching this thinking thank God we have moved forward from this
V
Sailing dinossaurs...
Soooo slow 🐌 yawn 🥱
This is as boring as anything to watch.
it's like watching cricket. *yawn*
Nothing wrong with Cricket
Barca superiore in tutto 🎉😭
