The “special tool” that came with our new house has wandered off, but, yeah, I definitely have a one-quarter hex wrench. Worked like a charm! And my son was brilliant in suggesting using the Shop Vac to get the bits of broken bowl out of the disposal. Whole process took just minutes, at a total cost of $0! Thanks Roto Rooter!

This fixed my problem, and was super easy. So easy that I thought the allen wrench I was using was too small, and just spinning in the hole with no resistance, but when I plugged it in and flipped the switch the disposal was running again. Thank you.

I fear and panick of wanting to contact my property manager came over to me. He probablys going to think they just moved in and an issue already. It is an older home so I thought oh my now something to charge me for. I googled it and it took me straight to this video. I followed along and OMG I was so proud of myself and Im a female. It worked!!! I am a little woman here who never had to look under the sink. But the disposable suddenly stopped working - a little hum only. I watched 5 videos and learned the mechanics of how the disposable works snd followed the basic steps suggested in the videos. But the best and the simplest you suggested - to put the heavy stick in the sink hole and turn the wheel and to my great surprise, it got unjammed!! ▪Thanks a million!!

Unbeknownst to me the metal spout from my oil decanter was lodged in my garbage disposal that also happened to have remnants of (incredibly) smelly new years cabbage in it. this video saved my nostrils. thank you

we have insinkerator - thank you for the video don't know if we were ever given the tool when ours was installed. but after finding the tool box with all the wrench sockets we found the right one and i was able to wash the dishes again.. thank you

Thanks so much for this video… ours has been stuck for a few weeks now and I had all but given up. I decided to google this today and came across this video, the Allen key fixed it in 2 seconds! Thank you!!!!!
I had a jam a few years ago. I followed this advice and it did help loosen things, but the disposal blades still wouldn't turn. I got paper towels and thoroughly wiped out the inside of the disposal, cleaned it with ajax and a green scrubby, paper toweled it again and carefully felt around. There was a tiny bump at the edge of one of the blades. I used an extra long pair of needle nose pliers and pulled for several minutes. I FINALLY got the thing that was jamming my disposal! It was.. a vape coil. I normally throw them away properly, but I set the old coil on the counter while I am putting a new one in.. someone had mistakenly dumped it into the sink!
