Wsg fam, I saw this video in my reccommended last night on my TV, and HI! Great video! Any tips on the road bikes I should buy? I have a OneTen Miyata road bike, and it's great, but it's an older bike, and it can't handle michigan roads very well, as they suck.(the roads)

Keep running those stop signs, wonder why drivers hate us.

@@dhfox322 were there cars waiting to cross? I didnt watch the video fully, but were there any cars on their right or left waiting to cross when they ran the stop signs? Indeed it's giving us a bad reputation. In my videos, I deal with bad drivers that don't know that bicyclists are allowed on the road, and there are even street signs stating that cyclists must not be riding on sidewalks. Yeah sometimes I'll break a law or two, but it's accidental. I don't purposely break the law. I only run the 4-way stops because when motorists see a bicycle waiting, it gets confusing, so I go through when I can.

Yeah, not sure if there are any reminders to the group covering rules of the road or best practices but might want to consider it. I enjoy the videos and have seen the group on their Saturday morning rides during my training rides. Seem to be good folks but I wince at the actions from some of the riders in the video. Not a good look for us.

When I first read that comment, I thought “hey we all blow through stop signs here and there, how bad could it be?” I’m not bothered by it when it’s at a T neck intersection, ie, the street doesn’t go through on the rider’s right. But these guys are pretty brazen. Left turns against a RED LIGHT?! No! I don’t care if the intersection is empty. Wait the extra 5 seconds for the light to change!
And turning left into the oncoming lane just to cut the corner is bad too. Most egregious is riding two and three abreast when bombing down that two way lane, forcing cars to literally drive on the wrong side of the double yellow. The driver of that white SUV is a saint!
Lastly, in my 35 yrs of road riding, I’ve learned that a little nod or wave of the hand to a driver who is letting your 30 bike peloton pass is a great way to nurture good will. He or she will be likely to show you courtesy again. Your life and your friends’ lives are literally in that driver’s hands. Like it or not, EVERY RIDER represents EVERY RIDER.
These seem like good guys, it’s a great course. But they need to pull back a little and follow long established rules of the road. Don’t let your gonzo riding make you ( or me) a hood ornament.
