The only issue for me right now is that Amazon has a deal where the Lumix 35mm F1.8 lens is discounted to $200 when bundled with the S5ii + 20-60mm lens. As a small content creator I have no need for the more advanced codecs right now, but it would be nice to have them in case I need them one day, however by the time I need them it may be long enough in the future that I'm looking to upgrade. The external SSD recording is such a bonus as well. I feel that for me I'd benefit from having a prime lens over the extra features, but I also don't want to let saving a few hundred dollars short term cost me more in the long run...decisions decisions
can you please confirm that wheather it looses PDAF in FHD mode in 50/60p? S5ii was losing PDAF in FDH mode in these frame rates. i mostly shoot in FHD so flawless autofocus in FHD is important to me. so it will be really helpfull for my buying decision if you can confirm that PDAF is working or not in all frame rates in FHD i.e. 25/50/100.
@@cameracollective9522 thanks for the effort. really appreciate it. now finally i can pre order it peacefully. would it be possible for you to make a dedicated video about this issue with some autofocus samples and video samples cause this has been the most heated topic since the launch of s5ii. thanks again for the confirmation.
@@paragjoddar1331 I’m definitely coming with more S5II X content soon. Probably about Prores and the image quality, but who knows maybe I’ll have time for a seperate autofocus test. Thanks for sticking around anyway! :)
Rolling shutter performance is unfortunately not good enough anymore in 2023, especially compared to stacked sensor cameras like xh2s, r3 and z8 (not that they compare price wise). Can't help but notice the lack of cf express type B, as it's not TRUE internal ProRes recording if you need an SSD dangling on the side to do so (again compared to xh2s and z8). Hoping for better decisions being made for the s1h mkII.
The autofocus use case on this video (and most video reviews) does not reflect real world conditions. Shooting with more than one person in the frame and trying to use object or face tracking is awful.
They are recording in Gigabit per second range now! Well... if they can... where is 4K 120p option????? I am using it quite actively with Sony a7s iii. If S5II X had that option (and technically, it is not challenging to add, given the data streams it can handle), I'd sell Sony to hell and switch instantly.
Yes same sensor from 2018 inside the A7III, S5, S1, S5II, S5IIX. Both the S5II and S5IIX have a slightly modified sensor but it's basicaly the same. The worst is that most profile (beside V-Log) are worse on the S5II(x) than on the S1 and S5.
like the s5ii was a no brainer, now this one, then another one next month. It never ends Wait till the s1h ii then that will be worth the upgrade. - the s5iix needs so much external crap to make it functional, which puts you in the cost bracket of a much better camera - its a false economy.
I can somewhat agree on this one but even if you get a recorder and a cage for this one is much more cheaper than a camera that can do these formats internally.
Wtf are you even talking about? Every product eventually is surpassed by another one. Tech is advancing and there's competition so, of course there will always be some alternative next month or the month after. And I make indie feature films that gross hundreds of thousands of dollars with cameras that are 5 years older than this. I made my money back 5 to 7 times every single time. If you can't make this camera functional with just an external recorder then the problem is your incompetence, not the camera itself.
@@jimgiraffe5253 How is it a false economy? Not everyone needs BRAW, it's offering a significant amount of functionality in-camera relative to competitors at the same level. It's a creator-targeted camera that can be used for more, if desired.
@@bensinger6655 you clearly dont get it, so to try and explain economics to someone who doesnt understand is futile. You seem like the perfect user for the S5ii , enjoy your new creator camera lol
You can choose 400mbps, that’s the lowest in all-intra, but you can always go back to LongGOP and get those lower bitrates like 100 and 150 mbps in 4k 10bit
@@obarovft314 Do some research man. Long GOP is extremely useful under correct usage and can actually provide a sharper image than ALL-I in certain situations. If you're shooting an interview where the background doesn't change much, due to the compression style you can actually get a cleaner and shaper image than an ALL-I option. ALL-I has its biggest benefits for frames with extreme movement where you will get cleaner image. They're both powerful tools. learn to use them rather than arbitrarily closing the door on an option. However, I do wish there was a 200mbps ALL-I option.

I tried it in FHD and autofocus was working the same way. It was not slower in any way so I don’t think it looses PDAF in FHD.

videos in 4k 60fps have the crop?
Yes, 1.5x
Your videos deserve million views. I ordered mine today and your video boost my decision. Thank you and yes I sun your channel.! Best wishes

What if i connect to Hdd will it work
Or a Satat Ssd with enclosure...
How works sigma 24 and 50 (f2 dgdn) for video on s5IIx?
What are you shooting on? On The talking head?
Sony A7IV
Hello can you check if the S5iix can record to a M2 SSD?
It can record to M2; kondor blue is designing a top handle that can hold a M2 ssd

L-mount is the biggest hurdle, other than the(limited) lens choice (and pricing) it is a great camera.
Not buying one.
It works great with mc-21 adapter, RF is more expensive :(

What is the meaning of "No Brainer"?
A "no-brainer" is an idiom for something considered an easy decision or requires little to no thought to reach a conclusion.
