Really useful to hear an explanation of how the hulls are formed and how Lagoon ensure the through hulls are solid to make sure no water gets to the balsa core.

Wat model is the heater? And there are one in each hull, right?

Tim Hansen, I'm not sure of the model. There is only the one heater but there are vents and controls in all the cabins and the large washroom as well as in the salon.

WTF? about the location of the fuel cut off and the "port" to use the fire extinguisher........how the heck are you going to e able to access either of those in an emergency.

Dean Collins I was initially thinking the same thing. My worry would also be about a battery or dc electric fire in the engine compartment where the switches are. Getting to the fire extinguisher port is easier to do in real life than it seems in the video, and I would prefer to have a separate engine compartment from the main hull as opposed to having the engine inside the hull, as some cats have the engines right under the beds. I don't know enough about the design and safety process or thinking to comment fully on it. I will see what I can figure out and if I should be doing any modifications. Other suggestions or comments on this are appreciated.

Dean, You can certainly add an automatic fire extinguisher system inside the engine compartment. You could also add a remote shutoff for the fuel valve. You are limited in terms of where you can have the extinguisher port, but it is quite accessible if you need to use it.

Yep I guess that's one of the issues when you are limited to 42ft.....how to fit everything in. Still looks a great boat though some bits seemed to "squeak" and groan more than I thought they should while walking around.
I guess at the end of the day you really do need to go to 50+ in order to have a true engine compartment "firewall".
Now that you've had the boat for a while do you think there is any chance at all someone could be sleeping in the owners cabin if either motor was running? Or is that not really possible due to lack of insulation between the bed/motor even at low revs.

Dean Collins, yes there is a bit more squeaking than would be ideal. I've seen other videos commenting on this too. I will try lying on the beds with the engine running in a couple weeks when I am on it again and let you know. We are lucky here with so many great places to stop that I don't know if there will be much night time motoring for Water Dragon at all given its charter base location.
