Dear Rob, Hope you're alive and kicking! Thanks for this video and getting so many people inspired. Like you so wisely state in your motto - "Improve your skills on the water and in the garage" - I got to make my own attempt to repair a 2015 4.30 75% GA Sails mast that broke because of terrible stone ground heat. (Sail was left for a few minutes under terrible sun, tilted onto a wall. Heat and a bit more downhaul than usual was dire. My fault completely... Broke the bottom part of the mast above the boom. A very clean break that got me into taking the chance to repair it with a good degree of success. Used a 38cm mast piece that went really snug, carbon strand and then 2 pieces of carbon around the mast (+- 20x20cm, although a longer patch rolled shown in the video is probably better). Got it all preety straight and firm. The repair looks brilliant and got it tested on grass and then on the water. Success! No felt change on performance as it was not so windy today. But taking my sail pumps with ease it's only a good sign. Will post a follow-up after a full blast test. Hope it encourages more people to get out and test it out themselves. It's not terribly hard but does require a level of skills, tools and space to do it. Tolerances are critical. I did had a first mast piece getting in from the wider mast part from the bottom, unlike on the video shown here. In my perspective, it makes more sense. Got pieces of sponge (not air tight) to both ends of th mast piece so that the epoxi would not goo out running ton unwanted places. Hope it would be possible to post some of the images of the repair but don't think so after all. Will probably leave it to a own youtube video. Rob, thank you! Big fan of your work! Take care and keep rocking! All the best, TM POR 666
Hello, what carbon fabric did you use to repair it? What weave, thickness, weight? What glue to stick the connector is resin? Thank you very much for help.
Hi Rob! I need your help with a very very strange scratch in my mast. It would be great to have your opinion. If you have any email i can send u the photo.

28cm aluminum rod is good or too stiff? (had to trim since it was stuck)
Nice!
