What if Atlanta never gets a top pick again to take a quarterback with the potential of Penix in the coming years. I'm a huge Falcons fan and being out of QB hell that we have been in feels great. If it's the 28 and a half on average and no Tds have been given up and there has been fumbles so using those numbers its worth the kicking team make them return it. I also get the regular season will change thing but the logic saying it's not worth giving up a TD for the 1 or 2 yards is just forgetting that the returning team can turn it over...which is more likely than returning it.

Yeah Atlanta is insane for drafting Penix…wait until they win the division and also have their present AND future at QB settled while only paying out $100M guaranteed for that. That sounds like a good situation to me. Heck of a lot better than Tua’s $167M guarantees.
It shouldn't be thought of as insane. But if Penix proves to be underwhelming, then you can legitimately question the wisdom of missing out on a stab at a quality player with such a high pick. Their defense is under the radar good and using that pick to get the first defensive player off the board (your pick of the litter) might have been a very good move to put the defense over the top, especially with a defensive HC. A trade down might have generated a wealth of talent down the road. I would've loved it if they would have traded down once or twice and got leatu latu whose looking great in the preseason. Plus, they could have gotten a developmental qb later in that draft or perhaps next year. Time will tell

He was projected as a mid to late 1st rd pick. I love the pick for Atlanta but he was always gonna be there at 8.
