There is something so decadent about roasting a whole chicken and the feeling of accomplishment you feel when it is done. So inexpensive, delicious and comforting.
I am married to a very very picky eater. Cooking for him over the years has been an exercise in frustration for me. Especially since I am a vegetarian with celiac disease. He would not typically eat what I fix. He has been getting takeout or frozen meals for most of his meals until recently. Inflation is absolutely killing us so I have tried to start cooking for him again. I can cook but I haven’t ever really cooked what he likes to call “regular” food. Cooking 2 separate meals all the time is EXHAUSTING. Your videos are so helpful and your meals are simple and fast. He has liked almost every single thing I’ve tried from your suggestions which is amazing because he turns up his nose at almost everything
I guess my husband just found 2 missing brothers! Still his favorite food is french fried and macncheese. I don't know what to cook for him. This channel helps me a lot too!
I also have a picky husband eater and yes it’s exhausting.I like almost everything. So I sacrifice what I like usually. I will make me vegetables he doesn’t like. It’s frustrating. I guess I should make him cook his self…

If you don’t like dried herb pieces in your food- cook it into your food by putting it in a tea leaf diffuser! Then you can remove once done but still have the flavour!! ❤
As someone from the Cincinnati area, that is the perfect consistency for Cincinnati chili! It's just not meant to be thick. I have a Skyline up the street, but I choose to make it at home instead. Love your videos! And your accent.
That whole chicken with sides dinner looked exceptional! You rarely get anything in restaurants that looks that good. Nice presentation. Have a good night. ♥
Hi Kristen, yummy looking meals, as always🙂! The chicken and dumplings recipe looks so good, I am going to try it tonight as I have all the ingredients at the ready. I didn't realize your father-in-law lived next door. I love that he cooks for your kids once a week. Great bonding time!!
That is basically how I make my dumplings, sometimes add a touch of cream, sour cream, or cream cheese if I need it used up to make it creamier. I also used to use the Cream of Chicken with Herbs and it gives it such a great flavor. Even my picky eater prefers it over just the regular Cream of Chicken. Alas, it gives me incredible heartburn so we don't use it anymore typically. But I would definitely recommend trying that one!
A1 on a baked potato is the best!! I wanted to try and spatchcock our thanksgiving turkey but I’m pregnant with twins and my tummy is kinda sensitive right now with raw meats n such and I just couldn’t do it 😂 (also I have that same roasting pan, she’s the backbone to our thanksgivings! 😂 ) the meal you prepared with the roasted chicken looked so delicious and soul warming! Everytime I make chicken and dumplings, I use this dumpling recipe: -2 cups all purpose flour mixed with 1 teaspoon salt -3/4 ice water -Put flour/salt mixture in a mixing bowl. Beginning in center of flour, dribble a small amount of ice water. Work mixture with fingers from center of bowl to sides of bowl, incorporating small amounts of water at a time. Continue until all flour is used up. Batter will feel as if it is going to be tough. Knead dough and form into ball. Dust a good amount of flour onto dough board and rolling pin. Roll out dough, working from center. Dough will be firm. Roll to 1/8 inch thinness. Let it air-dry for a minute or two while you return your attention to the boiling pot at the point at which you add the canned soup to the chicken mixture. Cut dumplings into 1-inch strips. Working with one strip at a time, hold strip over pot, pull it in half, and drop into the boiling stock. Remember, do not stir after dumplings have been added to pot. (From paula deens website) I don’t typically follow this full recipe, just the dumpling part , these are cheap dumplings to make since they are just water, flour and i season them with black pepper) also if you haven’t tried the Shrimp, Grits and gravy recipe on her website i HIGHLY RECOMMEND it, it’s delicious and very filling !
Hi Kristen, sometimes I put the rosemary in my hand and break it up smaller before putting in the soup, or potatoes or whatever your cooking. They usually break easily when you squish it in your hand.
Greetings! Great video. I was raised up having some sliced boiled egg in the chicken and dumplins. The egg yolk adds some creamy texture to the soup. I add sauted minced carrot and celery too.
About every 2 weeks I put a whole chicken in the airfryer. I use the kinders buttery poultry seasoning on mine also. I’ll have to try roasting mine the next! Looks delicious!!!
Hi Kristin. I love your videos. There’s just something about them! 😃Everything looked great as always. I love how you seasoned and cooked the chicken. Thanks for sharing!🤗💕
Thank you! Yes, dinner rut and craving sloppy joe’s! That’s going to happen tomorrow! Yummy chicken & dumplings sounds great also! I just learned the term “spatchcock” and it looked a little too much work but certainly worth the juiciest 🍗. ❤
I agree about the rosemary, tastes great, but it's like pine needles. I got a cheap coffee grinder and grind rosemary, and other spices. Much better. I keep the spice grinder separate from my real coffee grinder.
I stated using premade biscuits for my chicken & dumplings a couple years ago was very skeptical because I always made my dumplings from scratch but I will not go back now they taste amazing & it’s so convenient & easy .
Love your videos. Never though about adding the raw ground meat to the liquid. If you have an air fryer, they take hot dogs to a whole better level. And even quicker than boiling.
I love this channel, the easy tasty looking recipes and your beautiful accent. If I may make a suggestion, in time stamping the start of each recipe. That would be incredibly helpful. I'm probably going to make all of these😊
For a sloppy Joe leftover recipe. Make a grilled cheese sandwich with sloppy Joe meat. It goes far because you don't need as much as dinner and as always, lots of butter on the bread, edge to edge. I do this with chili leftovers too. 😋
I smash the rosemary with the measuring spoon in the jar so it is in smaller pieces. I do the same with minced onions in the jar because they are sometimes too big. Great flavor but no one wants to chew it 😊
Everything looked delicious! I have never boiled ground beef. It’s very interesting to me! I am a potato lover!! I love baked potatoes but unfortunately my family does not so when I make them it’s a huge treat for me! Thanks for sharing!
I can’t wait to try these sloppy joes. I feel like I don’t really like sloppy joes, but that’s not fair since I’ve only ever had Manwich 😂 Thanks for always giving us such good inspo. Merry Christmas!
Hello Kristin. I live close by Gold Star. We love it too. But when I make it myself at home. I always use like 2 cups less water than the recipe calls for, sometimes I've even added a additional pound of ground beef. It makes all the difference. It's nice and thick. We prefer the Cincinnati chili mix over the gold star. It's delicious. Thank you for sharing all these Delicious recipes. Much Love From Indiana.
Oh my gosh I am laughing I thought I was the only one who put steak sauce on my potatoes with butter and sour cream. I buy Texas Roadhouse sauce at the restaurant and use that. Delicious if you have not tried it,also sometime I put BBQ sauce
I have a similar issue with some dried herbs being too strange tasting with the larger pieces. I found an old coffee grinder at goodwill and use it to turn the herbs into powder. My sister uses a small electric coffee grinder for herbs and peppercorns. Just a thought!😉😊 All these looked so yummy! I’m gonna make that whole chicken dish this weekend. You go girl, spatchcocking that bird!! Easiest way to cut it up, get a big cleaver or chopping knife, and it cuts the whole bird in 3 easy chops into 4 quarters! Learned it from watching Korean street cooks videos!
I love that you live in Kentucky too. I been watching people from Kentucky on UA-cam. I think it's cool. And I'm kinda proud. Love the content and channel. Keep it up
I never saw a method like this of dropping the meat into the boiled liquid to cook. Honestly, the best way to make chili is to brown the meat first then add your vegetables and your sauces. This way you get a delicious taste of the meat that will give out some caramelization..Plus, it just makes more sense and adds more flavor. 🙂
I didn’t know Goldstar made packages of the flavoring (I live in the PNW and they don’t sell it in stores) but Amazon does! I love Cincinnati chili so thank you for the inspiration!!❤❤❤

Thank you so much!! Cast iron can definitely be intimidating but yes you can save them! Scrub the spots with steel wool until it comes off, then wash with hot water and soap (this is the only time I’d recommend soap on cast iron) dry it off very good then cover the whole pan in a thin coating of vegetable oil with a paper towel, then place upside down in a 400 degree oven for an hour.
@@KristinStepp Thank you!!! My Gramma only used cast iron, she made it seem effortless❤️I will definitely get it washed and baked!! Thank you again!! 🥰🎄

Your potatoes came out perfect!! I needed help making the perfect baked potato. How long would I leave it in oven if my potatoes are not jumbo. Did u put them on a baking sheet? Covered or uncovered

@Kristin Stepp what temperature? Your the best. Your potatoes are perfect. So for an hour leave them uncovered? So basically directly on the oven rack? No oil or poke fork into them?
