I just want to say how much I appreciate you embracing and wanting to return to simpler roots. Social media has a funny way of showing us the gloss and shine of everything and we forget the grounded reality. Sloppy Joes and tater tots are an awesome dinner and I grew up eating that fairly regularly! Thanks for being real, Kristin. It's nice to see there are influencers out there who aren't hiding behind the soft focus and fake sheen because, you're right, we all are just people trying to make it through and raise our families. I really appreciate that. ❤️
Thank you so much for this comment!! Social media can be so toxic and some days I want to just delete it all. I always want to remain relatable and real. ❤️
If I would serve this food to my family we would all be overweight - I always have to change ingredients to make it edible for us. There is nothing wrong to watch your weight.
@@alexsiegel3061 - So you're saying ground beef, pasta, tortillas, tomato sauce, pork, potatoes, green beans, pickles, etc. are inedible? Best of luck with what you can eat then. Also, don't be a troll. Nobody is talking about what's healthy or not on this particular comment thread.
@@alexsiegel3061 You sound like a snob. Go away.
@@HaleyFaerie14 We have serious problems with obesity - there is nothing wrong with pasta OR beef OR tortilla OR cheese OR potatoes! But you don´t have to combine high fat and high calorie food all the time. You can serve pasta with some steamed veggie and salmon/chicken WITHOUT tons of gravy or sauce. Or make a healthy veggie-based sauce. You don´t have to cover everything all the time with cheese
Cook the ribs in the crockpot first for a couple hours until tender, then place them on a cookie sheet with BBQ sauce under broiler just to get them a little crispy. Yummm
Yes this is the absolute BEST way to make country style ribs 🥰
Instant pot with beer instead of water is even better (15 min)
I started watching you because you're so relatable. I don't tend to watch "Pinterest worthy" cooking channels because that is not always reality. I like when you show your family eating at Wendy's on a night you didn't cook because then I think 'you know, I haven't had Wendy's in a while" and that in itself is a dinner idea. I don't have children and I like to cook but a lot of times I just don't feel like it or I just want to cook something simple (which turns out to be the most delicious meals). So I said all that to say this, please keep showing your "simple" meals because they are helping someone! Thanks for sharing! 😁
Thank you sooo much for this comment! I needed it! ❤️❤️❤️
@@KristinStepp You're very welcome!! Patiently awaiting the next video! 😁
As an English person it’s great to see homely meals from another country gave me a few ideas ❤️
It’s so funny that you say homely and in America we say Homey Because homely means unattractive in American slang… I learned this from my British girlfriend who said this dinner is so homely at my house and I was so insulted because I thought my food with ugly and then we laughed about it
@@wendoxia it’s weird especially that we both speak English but interpret words differently, I think fanny is the funniest one in England fanny is NOT a bottom!🤭❤️
@@ladygrinningsoul992🤚🤚🤚 ooh, me, me, me😁😁😁. I know what fanny means in Britspeak. It's the front not the bottom of female anatomy😋

Babes, we LOVE the simple stuff. We just want to make good meals that doesn’t take too many ingredients to make! You’re doing great!
Kristin we all understand real! Last night real was Mom has a migraine, work was stressful, I’m not feeling well and I’m tired so y’all are getting pizza. And I ordered pizza because that’s all I had the energy for. In the end all that matters is your kids are fed, they’re happy, they’re healthy and loved. It was the best parenting advice my granny gave me. She always told me so the house might be a little chaotic, there might be dirty dishes in the sink but the time you have with your kids when they are little is priceless, cherish every moment and who cares if you don’t cook a gourmet meal. The thing about is your kids are loved and they see it because you take the time to show them, they’re fed, they’re clothed, they have a roof over their heads, shoes on their little feet and they are healthy and strong. That’s all that matters. I have to remind myself of this advice sometimes when I get down on myself for not being Martha Stewart every day. You got this girl!
That ending statement got me in the feels! I think it's amazing that you want to be simple and show your real life. That's how I grew up eating, we ate balanced with a little bit of everything. we were healthy and I saw nothing wrong with it until society and social media came into play. We love the real you, And don't be afraid to show it! Anyone who has time to do Instagram worthy meals everyday might have something else messing from their life
I love the simple easy real meals. I feel like I get in a rut and can't even think of the simple go to meals. I watch for ideas and not necessarily intricate detailed recipes!
I am happy to hear that you're filming your simple "regular" meals, because that's the kinda cooking we ALL do most of the time!!! And that's what's most helpful for me... I definitely get in ruts for what sounds good and won't take hours to make. I see your video and think "yummo... I haven't made sloppy joes in ages!!!"
Little giggle to share: my husband walked into the room where I was watching this video... he could hear the TV but not see it. He recognized your voice. 😊 we love it when you say you put "oil in your skillet" (in your cute accent)
I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season! 😊 💗
Ever since I started making my boneless ribs in the Crockpot I won't go back to oven baked! So juicy!!💙
I really, really appreciate you showing the simple, easy, non-Pinterest meals. I loooooveeeeee watching all your dinners and I get so many ideas from it but I do confess, a lot of times I’m trying to find a quick, throw together dinner and I just run out of ideas. So again, thank you so much for sharing that!!
I love that you show ALL kinds of meals weather they are just regular everyday meals or meals that are a little more special. I especially love that you talk about your family and i can really tell how much you love them!!! Thank you for sharing the meals and your family life, never change for anyone, because i think your channel is great!😁
That fajita dish looks restaurant quality. There is no need to go out for it when you can make a dish like that! Everything looks great. Thank you for the inspiration. ❤️
That’s the best compliment, thank you so much!! ❤️
I would love to see a cook with me video with your dad. His food always looks so delicious. 😋
☺️❤️
Aww Kristin! I’m so glad that you showed the sloppy joes and said what you said. You are so right and I love how real you are! And a lot of times when you show things like that it gives me an idea of something to make. You’re the best what’s for dinner there is for sure! ❤️
I'm throwing chicken, cubed potatoes and baby carrots in the instant pot tonight with some broth and whatever seasonings are at the front of my spice rack.... 5 minutes of effort that my family will likely appreciate more than the fancy shrimp dish I made yesterday.
I love watching your meals, to me you seem like you have a lot of yummy dinners, simple ones included. I know you always show me something new, even if it's just a new spin on an old favorite it is all much appreciated. So thank you for having such a relatable channel 🖤👍🏾
I have a 2 and 3 year old and we do simple easy meals ALL THE TIME! As long as we feed our families there’s nothing to be ashamed of! Us moms work hard and deserve a quick meal sometimes ❤️
If you're doing the ribs in the oven, put a little bit of water in the bottom of your pan and cover with aluminum foil until the last few minutes. It really makes a difference! Thank you for showing the simple meals! There is so much pressure on us moms with social media only showing the "great" stuff. It's refreshing to see real life, so keep em comin!! Merry Christmas!
I'm still new to the UA-cam Creator world and I agree, it's so hard to try and come up with recipes that you want to try but are not your normal day-to-day type of meals. We have discovered a lot of great new recipes but sometimes it's not practical. Love your channel!
Honestly… your videos are very comforting to me no matter what you’re cooking. Your videos just make me feel at home. My mama lives in eastern KY and I miss it there oh so much. Never stop doing what you love 🤍 and never let what you love doing, become a chore.
I came to you tube today to find real meals for real families. I am making my meal plan for the year and I wanted some fresh ideas. However, most channels have extravagant things that will take way too long. I found your channel and it was perfect. I appreciate you showing all of your meal ideas, especially the simple ones. I work full-time and go to school full-time. My husband has to make dinner most nights. You sharing a simple meal like sloppy joes, although easy, sparks ideas about meals I may have forgotten about. Keep it up! Thank you❤️
You are awesome, Kristen! I don’t like the fancy corporate food shows, but I really enjoy your down to earth every day meals that I can afford! We relate!
My husband is an OTR truck driver. When he comes home he begs for manwich meatloaf and hamburger helper. Merry Christmas and glad you and your family are safe after the storm!
My husband prefers things like that too. Thank you so much!! Merry Christmas ❤️❤️
I have learned over the years to par boil my ribs bone in or bone less season the water like your hearts desire and then finsh in the oven like 25ish minutes and then sauce ...juice ribs and chicken breast every time
I love how real you keep it!! I’m in grad school and so many of my meals after a long day are a frozen pizza and a little side salad and that’s ok! You don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen to make a delicious meal and get your people fed!
I was having the same problem with pork boneless ribs… no matter what I did they were always a little dry but one day I decided to try the crockpot and it worked. Maybe it will work for you!!! Thanks for sharing
I was going to suggest this if Noone else did! My go to with all ribs
I started watching your videos because you have always been real. It is a channel I can take the recipes and serve my family. Never let the busy bodies get to you. Some people are only happy if they are making other people miserable. Keep doing you and you will have the loyal followers.
Idk about everyone else, but I’m tired of watching “perfect Pinterest” UA-camrs. I want real and authentic and I always feel like I get that from watching u so THANK YOU for being real and for being urself!! ❤️
I wanted to pop in and say thank you! I WANT to see the "simple" nights. Sometimes, I get caught up in "Pinterest worthy" dinners (or trying to) (and I'M NOT A UA-camR!). I forget about the simple things to cook. Showing the "simple nights" reminds me of those things and girl.... I put Manwich on my shopping list this week, so thank you!
LOVED this video!! My favorite UA-camrs are the women who are REAL. Remember, even the Pinterest ladies aren't living Pinterest worthy lives every second of every day! 😄
Humble honest family cooking is where it’s at!!!
I love that you show realistic meals. So many people post recipes for the “wow factor”, for the views, and yeah they’re fun to watch but I’d never make them cause I don’t want to spend 100$ on one meal. Your videos are genuine and realistic, you cool with what you have, the meals are things that most people I know actually eat on a weekly basis :) you’re doing a great job!
Love your videos, no matter what you make. They just feel like "home" - warm & cozy!! Wishing you and your family a happy holiday!!
Your channel quickly became my favorite "cooking channel" because you are so down to earth and keep it real. It's nice to discover new recipes that are delicious, but are also something that I could realistically make after work without having to spend the entire evening in the kitchen. It's also nice to see that sometimes, we just don't feel like cooking, and a frozen pizza or takeout is okay too! 👍
I've only done it with beef ribs (with a bone) but I'm sure any ribs would work! Coat your ribs in mild american mustard (the yellow bottle stuff) pop them in a container and pour in a bottle/can of beer/cider/cola. Pop in the fridge overnight. In the morning add them to a slow cooker with the liquid and cook on low until tender. Remove from the liquid, add bbq sauce and pop under the grill/in the oven until as caramelized as you like
I’ve stopped even trying to cook ribs because mine never turn out well 🤦🏻♀️ I love your videos because they’re simple meals that you can realistically cook with a family. Love everything!
You are absolutely delightful, Kristen! 🥰I always get so excited when you post a new video.🥳 Wishing you and your sweet family a very Merry Christmas! 🎁🎄
Aw thank you so much!! I hope you have an amazing Christmas & new year! 💜
I think it’s a good thing to show the easier meals because their are young ladies out there that may not know how to cook easy meals and it gives them ideas.
I've always cooked my country style pork ribs in a 9x13 or 9x9 pan I add maybe an ounce of water and brush some bbq sauce on each rib not alot just a little cover with foil and bake. It just falls apart its so tender. We had manwich last night for dinner lol nothing wrong with that. Girl you do you. I absolutely adore watching ur videos. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas & a healthy and Happy New Year! Lots of love from NC
I’m thinking because of the size of mine the cook time was just too long. Thank you so much!! I wish you the best going into Christmas & the new year! ❤️
@@KristinStepp I second what she said above. I always cook mine for just over an hour. Cook in 9x13 pan covered in foil. I also add the barbecue sauce the the last 10 mins I take off the foil to thicken up the sauce!
That's exactly right about the kids wanting the simple things. Mine would rather have Kraft mac and cheese than the homemade kind. And love your channel. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I totally support you going back to showing normal, easy meals! That's how we roll 😂 Love all your videos and that vodka sauce is on my list ☑️
I really appreciate you sharing the real life meals. Sometimes you remind me of something I haven’t had in a while or even just remind me that it’s ok to have sloppy joe nights. You’re one of the real life UA-camrs who have inspired me to share the same
I enjoy the “simple” things too! I literally thought “Oh yeah, I forgot about sloppy joes.” Then you went on your tangent ☺️
Kristin, every time I get into a dinner rut, I go through your most recent few videos...just watched this one for the first time and you about had me in tears talking about mom life! My oldest is 4 and puts up a fight over everything but chicken nuggets and cheesy rollups, plus I have my two younger girls at my feet every time in in the kitchen, so "simple meals" are my life right now. But your channel is the first place I go when I'm ready to break out of the rut! Love your videos, thanks for all you do!
Everything looks great! So true what you said about kids preferring more simple meals like sloppy joes rather than a more complicated meal! My kids are 5,3 and almost 2 and they love stuff like that too! Thank you for sharing all your meals with us! :)
we make our country style ribs in the crockpot with a mixture of equal parts ketchup and brown sugar (about 1c each give or take) and eyeball some worcestershire sauce .. cook 'em low and slow until they're nice and tender!! comes out excellent every time!! got this recipe from my husbands grandmother, its a true winner, you should definitely give it a try 🐖
That pizza looks so good! I wish my husband liked ground meat; I’d make that in a heart beat!! 💕
Sloppy joes! Always have to make extra because my S/O really enjoys sloppy joe tater tot nachos for dinner the next night. Or I do a dump pan nacho as sometimes I will dump whatever leftover meat I have on any chips we might have or tater tot’s, top with any cheese I have and top off with whatever fresh veggies we have or olives or beans..sometimes all three all into a Pyrex dish, bake for a few minutes, plop down in front of the tv and call it a day! I used to also make spaghetti sandwiches with my cousin in our early twenties when we didn’t have much and needed lunch for the next day after making a giant pot for dinner. It’s the random, simple, use what you have meals that are sometimes the best kinds of meals. Or at least stick out in my brain.
Love your videos Kristin, simple meals or fancy it’s all good. Just enjoy seeing the meals and what you put together, always gives ideas and reminders of things to make! So thank you. Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🎄
Thank you so much!! Merry Christmas!! ❤️
Kristin, we adore you just the way your are. As a working woman with a Son out of the house, but a 90 year old Dad now in the house, I appreciate your meals and planning so much. The simple meals are JUST as important to me as the fancier meals, because I don't always have time to prep, so Thank you for sharing your family with us all.
Omg I love the basic and simple meals! Sometimes I forget about sloppy joes and I love them. ❤️
I Love your videos! Your dishes inspire me and I love when you show simple real life dinners. Cuz as Moms we can't always cook gourmet meals 😂 Merry Christmas to you and your family
I do boneless pork ribs in the crockpot to allow them to cook low and slow all day--just seasoning them with salt and pepper. Then I take the ribs out, put them on a rack over a baking sheet, put the BBQ sauce on like you have it in your video, and pop it under the broiler for just a few minutes. They get nice and sticky while still being tender. Hope that helps!
I love these realistic meals! Not many videos like this on UA-cam anymore!
All of your meals are great, whether simple, every day or more complicated once in a while type meals. Your care, effort and love makes them all special! Thanks for opening your kitchen and sharing your wonderful dinners with us! Wishing you, Josh, your kids, and the rest of your family a lovely Christmas and a Fantastic New Year💕💕🎄☃️🎁
Keep up the great videos! I love those easy meals too. We don’t always have the time or energy to go all out, especially with two kids and a hubby…as long as they eat it’s a win for me! 🥰
Please show “reality” that’s what I’m here for!! I love everything you show.
Keepin it real with the sloppy joes! Love it!
No one in this world makes pinterest worthy meals everyday. We ALL make real meals. You ere the 1st whats for dinner channel I ever started watching. I love what you do. Keep it up
I definitely appreciate reality over perfection!
Catching up on a video I missed. Your dad’s chicken and noodles looks exactly like the kind my husband makes, his mom’s recipe. I’ve never seen anyone else make it like that! It’s one of our favorites! Everything looks delicious as always!
Aw we love you for being you!!! You are amazing and I love your videos!!
Love your videos…love how you show real every day cooking. I’m a stay at home momma & sometimes I have no idea what to cook, and not everyday has to be perfect.
Your videos are my absolute favorite!
I love how real and relatable you are!! Thank you for the great dinner ideas!
I love seeing the easy meals too!! Because we all need easy meal ideas too!!
I love seeing whatever you cook
I appreciate the simple and real meals!
I wouldn't want you to make content that you are not happy with! be yourself and if people don't like it, then move along! I think you were one of the first you tubers that I ever started watching! keep it real, gurl! love ya! xoxo
Yes show everything! It just gives ideas!
Awesome video!! Love that you keep it real!!
I love the simple things I’ve cooked for years. Thanks for highlighting them.
I love the simpler meals and knowing your relatable 🙌
The fajitas look amazing! Well done and thanks for the inspiration
I loved the whole video! I loved your ending message even more! Normal is wonderful! We need more of that, natural and normal, not polished and perfect. The polish and perfection is great to strive for from time to time but not all the time, as that can make a person feel bad when the absolute best outcome doesn’t happen. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us!
I love all your meal ideas. You are my favorite what’s for dinner channel. I am happy to see all of your meals!
I loved all these ideas! Everything looks delicious. You are a great cook!!
Love your videos and thank you for being real. It is so refreshing to see.
275 degrees. 3 1/2 - 4 hrs. Covered with tin foil. 5-10 mins uncovered with BBQ sauce. Fall off the bone tender & juicy. That's what I do.
I love simple meals & I find u relatable because of ur simple meals. My husband & I make our sloppy joes open face on Texas toast sometimes. It's realllllyyy good. When I have it on bread I like to do it open face & toast the bread. Helps the sandwich hold up
Be yourself is perfect. I love that you said that.
I love your meals and your channel because you are relatable! Love the simple meals just as much as the more complicated ones. Thank you for being yourself. That's what we love about you🥰
I love how down to earth and simple and sweet you are. It’s so refreshing to see how you keep it real and I find your videos so inspirational.
I absolutely love your channel! You are the real deal everything you fix is just Right up my alley I’m a mom of 4 kids and my husband works in Franklin Kentucky he is a team leader at Toyota automotive and I’m always left with having all the kids through the day and scratching my head a lot of times on what to make for supper I found your channel a few weeks ago and I’ve been following you I’m super glad I have
I love your channel! Easy meals every day at my house, if I cook at all. You do you, zero judgement from your loyal viewers! Great content! Have a Merry Christmas and God bless!
I just love your spirit! You are such an inspiration and I love watching your videos. I can find fancy special occasion meals all over Instagram but I like to watch people make realistic meals for their families on UA-cam because that’s more relatable. Keep being authentic, us subscribers love you for it!
All your meals are amazing even the simple meals 💖 Happy Holidays 💖
I appreciate you and your videos. I get a lot of ideas for dinners, so keep them coming (even the basic ideas)!
Hi! My sister taught me to make boneless ribs in the crockpot! Just cover the ribs in bbq sauce and a little water and cook on low. They come out perfect every time.
Chicken and noodles with cornbread is definitely one of my favorite comfort foods.
That queso looks amazing 🤤 will def be giving that a try.
I love the recipes and meals you share because it’s the same kind of stuff we all eat. Your foods always looks like a feast!
I LOVE your videos! Just be you, we all love you for who you are and you make THEEEEE BEST youtube videos! Happy New Years!🥳
I love your videos and the simple stuff too
Thank you for keeping it real. We are motivated by all meals!! Keep up the great work!!
Love your transparency ❤️
Everything looks so good! We got to try that Bacon Ranch Salad. I have never been able to make really good county style ribs either.
I do the boneless ribs in the crockpot. Just add your seasoning and bbq sauce cook on low 5 to 6 hours. They don’t dry out that way.
Yes!!! I’ve gotten so many ideas from you. What may be boring and simple to you might be completely new to someone else!
