'I'll stop the van if a red light comes up on the dash" in the same scene you can clearly see the van has no dash, Like a Boss
There is an engine failure light. They have to have it to race. But it's an oxymoron. A light telling you the engine is dead. He had a chuckle with that one.
They do have warning lights for oil pressure e.g.
But yeah.. that's one way to solve engine problems, remove the warning lights and keep going.
The best part of this is when he says "oh so we done the record". he cares more about the van he built than the record it was built to break

Yes but her time was BtG - Bridge to Gantry (19.1km) i belive his was the Complet Nordschleife (20.832km) so the 2 times are hard to compare with each other.
But i belive too that Sabine could have found a few more seconds with that Van he is driving becaues she basicly had known every little Rock on that Track

One of my highlights of your series guy. Always loved a transit. Lucky enough I had a bit of sight when you did this program so I was lucky enough to see it but not all of it unfortunately it was slightly blowy on the screen but the sounds was amazing. Hope you go racing soon as if you go to Browns it I will definitely be there love the smell and the sounds of vehicles racing around

i love vans some stuff they are not great at, but the will do anything. The one van that got me starting to love vans and are still my favorit, is the Ford Supervan 2. i wonder how that or the ather Ford supervans can do around that track

The original fastest van lap was done by Sabine Schmidt in a STANDARD transit. Put her in that van and she will probably do a sub 9 minute
Just re-watched that - she did 10:08 in a basically stock van with traffic!

But he had a tube frame purpose built 692 HP and a clear traffic
Sabine had traffic and 134 HP………

And some ordinary scandinavian blue collar guy took his first laps on a race track ever when he tried the Nordschleife with a standard 90hp rental car.. He did it when he was off from work and he clocked in at 09:41 BTG..

I know vans are not good because of aerodynamics, but aside from that I love vans! Which is probably why Tesla is so hesitant to build a van but they have a truck and a pick up truck which are both more aerodynamic but it’s doable

Sabine Schmitz did it in 10.04 with the completely stock diesel Transit !
Stock but stripped out a bit, they had to deal with traffic but also had a Viper ACR to draft behind for their fastest lap. Still it does highlight just how fast she got that van to go.
I thought Sabine did the Bridge to Gantry run and not the whole circuit - need to add 50 seconds or more to that time.
@@sw96 Stock but stripped out - not the same class of vehicle, tbh. Give her Guy's machine and a couple remote controlled extinguishers and she does it quicker.
@@manfredschmalbach9023 Without a doubt, track knowledge is key anywhere but doubly so at the Ring. It's a shame the engine fire didn't hold off cutting the engine until after the finish line on that second lap, wouldn't have been surprised if Guy knocked another 10-15 seconds off his time.
Ok. but Sabine has a few more laps under her belt than Guy. and she had a viper to break the air. And the british geezer with the glasses has the old record.

It's not weird the record was broken. A racevan compared to a standard van. But I think there is a build that can beat that record
I want to see him drive in a bone stock van. The ford transit with a v6 ecoboost and a Chevrolet express with a 6.0 v8
The express is getting the 6.6 soon.
@@bacondeath693 i drive a 2019 it has the new 4.3v6. And im impresses 275hp pleanty of getup and go whial getting 18/19 mpg a full size work.van. i never got more then 15mpg from my 2015 with the 4.8v8 and it was slower
Guys British, a bone stock Transit here has a 2.0 Diesel Engine.
@@Emberescan12 in know that why i suggested an american engine v6 eco boost 375hp transit ... hope it over comes the automatic transmission rather then the 210hp diesel
