Thanks so much for documenting the whole concert experience, great video shots too! What an incredible show, so nice to see them really enjoying themselves onstage and playing superbly, they are undoubtedly one of the world's best rock bands. I was V44 but didn't realize until seeing this that I was immediately behind you during the concert. Well worth flying all the way from Honolulu to see them live. I'm amazed you were also able to include the video from the fan's iPhone that was "borrowed" by Tomomi - awesome!!!
Thank you! And I’m glad you liked the shots of the concert. My older gig vlogs had proper live recordings in them with audio, but I was always paranoid they’d get taken down. So I was looking for a way to capture the feeling of the gig without the copyright music. I think the montage and slomo shots work well so I’m glad to hear you liked it. That’s quite the trip from Hawaii, hope you enjoyed/are enjoying the UK! And the fan’s iPhone footage got posted in a small Facebook group that I’m in that was set up way back when they toured Hello World. When I saw they posted it I knew I had to include it, I’m incredibly grateful that they gave me permission to.
Great video & it was a great show, well worth the wait from 6 years ago & the 2 postponements. I had been waiting outside from about 9:15am & was VIP no.10. It's a shame the photos weren't just with 1 person & without masks like they got in North America ^^; (My photo didn't turn out so well, I should of set my camera with the flash on but thankfully there were 4 other photos to select from) I was ok with the setlist, I would of liked a bit more of the older songs (Bit disappointed DOLL was dropped but that's ok). I appeared in your video a few times, I was the guy in front of you taking the photos lol Hopefully it's not another long wait for them to come back ^_^

Hundreds of videos from other shows really haven't prepared me at all on how captivating they were and how much humbleness and kindness they were radiating, once you were able to pick up on all the small details and how much exchange was happening between them and the crowd. We were also blessed with the amazing sleeper hit Flashback No.5 which to my knowledge hasn't been a part of their setlists in the years before and just slowly built up to be such a big hit through word of mouth. :-D And I share so much of your experience with the Mirror album, the doubts before the concert and how the live performance changed my mind. Listening to it before and after the concert is like night and day for me and especially the song Mirror itself now feels so unbelievably personal and cuts really deep.

So hearing someone else echo my sentiment is great. And you’re absolutely right about their stage presence. First came across the channel several years ago with your vlog for the Yellow tour gig & then later Band-Maid videos (though personally I clicked with Scandal after Band-Maid, just down to which songs I came across first). Also made me give Pizza Party another chance as on first listen it was slightly too pop punk for me, usual thing of adding layers once you get round to reading translations of Tomo's more introspective lyrics. Twas through your vlog of the Islington B-M 2019 show that I discovered I'd missed out on getting to see that free Yoshiki piano performance as well, had been killing time before the concert for the most part, mildly gutting but I only went down the X-Japan rabbit-hole later so wouldn't have fully appreciated it at the time. This was my first Scandal show and it didn't disappoint, only had regular tickets but still had a decent enough view. Was slightly towards Tomomi's side of the stage cos I wanted to witness her fabled 'happy feet' in action and there was plenty of playful mischief from the Dobondobondo pair throughout the show, wasn't until I saw some bootleg footage today that I noticed Tomo messing with Mami whilst she was playing the Andy Summers style 'solo' section of One More Time. Pretty sure it's the first time I've seen her use a kiss to try and throw Haru off in Scandal Baby mind, on top of the more normal singing along and invading her personal space. I think my baseline for enjoying songs from Mirror was slightly higher than yours but I had a similar experience in that my appreciation increased, Kanojo wa WAVE through a big PA where you can see Rina singing whilst playing drums has a much more impactful dance-y feel. Ai no Shotai working with the gospel backing lower relative to Tomo's lead vocals and I've since decided that it pairs well with Ivory as the two 70s tinged songs back-to-back. My thoughts on Mirror now is whilst it has less standout tracks in isolation, it flows better than some of their recent work as a cohesive album. Though I will preface that by adding having the two digital singles (Living in the City & Spice) after One More Time on the JPU release version works really well and bumps it up a notch.

I think you’re spot on with your comments about the album, the songs definitely work well together and are of a consistent style/feel, and while they weren’t initially what I love about scandal, it’s been a huge grower and I’m much more into it now. Sorry you missed the Yoshiki show. I kinda feel bad because I’m not a particularly big fan, I just know and respect what they are/have done as a band and felt it wasn’t something I couldn’t miss. The frustrating thing is that the footage has never been used for anything and some diehard fans on Reddit confirmed that it’s unlikely to and he does that a lot- film stuff and then just shelve it! At least my footage is there for people to enjoy!
