Great comedy starts with great character development. The five Maids have already accomplished this, in spades. From there, Antony just had to take their charm points, exaggerate them, throw them into plot situations for comic effect, and spice up the end product with some rude words, slapstick accidents and quirky sound effects. And what a cast of cameo roles! HM the Queen, Charles, Camilla, Mr Bean and no fewer than THREE James Bonds! Not one, but TWO of the greatest entrance scenes in dramatic history: Kanami flaunting the laws of physics to float into Buckingham Palace precisely when Royal High Tea had just been served, and Miku bursting into the room to dramatically announce that she had been buggered. Sheer gold! A true masterpiece, Ant. Congratulations. And as for the five Leading Ladies, you inspire me. One day I hope to create something glorious that I can dedicate to all five of you. ❤❤❤❤❤
None of it would be possible without the ladies letting their fans into their lives - just a little. If you go back to the 2016 tour of EU, US and Mexico, only Miku spoke to the audience and she knew very little English. By the time of the 2019 tour Kanami was chatting with the audience too, the others shared a word or two. It was Miku who more or less, dragged the other members to participate with the crowd onstage. She would pull them into her Magic Time. They were reluctant, Saiki was afraid of embarrassing herself, Akane and Misa just didn't know any English. And then 2022 and they are all chatting at live shows - Miku doesn't give up. Maybe they realised that they have a massive English speaking fan base so they upped their language study. As I said, they share their lives with their fans and yet still maintain a private life. They laugh with us, make fun of each other, tell use stories about each other, they take the time to talk to their audience which no other band, that I know of, has ever done.
