Gotta love his reply, " It's a hair absurd. " It IS a Lynchian movie just as Elephant Man was because he chose to direct it. An exquisite film, dripping with subtle, deep emotions. A stirling screenplay, perfect performances and economical direction. Wonderful!
All the people who say “it’s not a David Lynch movie” are so wrong. The true heart of Lynch’s films are always the stories about normal people and their normal environments. That’s why Dune flopped!
The "small touches" is where classic David Lynch moments show up (like Alvin's conversations with the other elders), the deer/roadkill scenes, and of course, the amazing Angelo B. music.
just watched it for the second time and it's absolutely beautiful. the only thing i don't get is why it took alvyn more than 6 weeks to pass a distance of 240 miles with a tractor having a speed of 5 mph ? i mean, let's say he drives 10 hours a day...he would have made it in 5 days ?!?
One of his most overlooked movies.
Maybe his only good one
@@randonceccoli8428 well that’s nonsense
@@randonceccoli8428you sure don't understand a shit about cinema

interviewer is like someone from lynch's movies
LOL
Maybe it's my favourite Movie of all time. And it's just about an old man traveling to see he's brother.
BRILLIANT
David's best film. A masterpiece. But really not a stretch for Lynch for anyone who's seen Elephant Man - he's always got a great eye for humanity.
I still think Eraserhead is his best work
To say this is his best film is crazy tho. Mulholand drive, eraserhead, blue velvet, inland empire
@@Gypsywasteland they're all amazing ones, but i agree, Straight story is his most powerful
The Straight story is one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen, so perfect.
what a nice lady

@@van8ryan yep. Like the grabber “scene” on the hardware store. Very Lynchian humor.
wonderful movie which I recently revisited and enjoyed once again.
Wonderful, sentimental film with a great music script and the interviewer displayed deference to an amazing Director.
One of the best David Lynch's films! Very touching!
Bobbie can charm anybody.
I wish David would talk about this movie more, but lynch being lynch, let the movies speak for themselves
What a sweet charming lady
LOVE David Lynch! Is he still doing movies? Blue Velvet is in my Top 10.
He’s working on an upcoming project likely due next year at the earliest.
His work has mostly been in television. He hasn't made a movie since Inland Empire back in 2006
where do you live on the moon? Check on the internet dude
Blow my mind... I love it

It was good, however I feel lynches style of directing really didn’t work for a story like this.
I thought it was excellently done. It's the most moving film I know.
I'd have to disagree - I felt that Lynch's instincts elevated what might have been done less effectively by a more 'mainstream' director
“It’s a hair absurd because… I made the movie” 😂
😆....thought to be fair I can see exactly why people - including me - would say that ...
